  • Publication number: 20250226896
Abstract: A device is configured to perform positioning sessions and radio frequency (RF) sensing sessions in a cellular network. The positioning sessions may be previously defined positioning sessions, in which a device uses reference signals (RSs) to generate positioning measurements. RF sensing sessions may be defined sessions using the existing infrastructure for positioning sessions in order to generate RF sensing measurements. With the device to report both the positioning measurements and the RF sensing measurements, the device may adjust a previously defined measurement report for positioning measurements to also include RF sensing measurements, or the device may generate newly defined measurement reports to include the RF sensing measurements. The device may also prioritize reporting the positioning measurements and the RF sensing measurements, which may be based on a latency requirement of the different measurements, a quality of the measurements, or a use case of the device.

  • Publication number: 20250219705
Abstract: Radio frequency (RF) sensing of a target object by a wireless network is supported by a sensing node based on a sensing-purpose beam measurement configuration and/or valid reporting configuration received from a network node. Based on the sensing-purpose beam measurement configuration, the sensing node measures sensing-purpose beams received from a transmitting entity and selects one or more of the sensing-purpose beams for sensing the target. The sensing node sends a sensing-purpose beam measurement report to a network node that identifies the selected sensing-purpose beams and may provide measured metrics, such as signal strength and absolute or relative delay of the selected beams along the target paths. The sensing node may determine whether valid reporting conditions are present based on changes in the measurement the channel state information and may report sensing measurement if valid reporting conditions exist.

  • Patent number: 12298412
Abstract: Techniques are described for supporting user equipment (UE) positioning in a non-terrestrial network (NTN). To allow calculating a position/location of a UE based on reference signal (RS) measurements to and from one satellite (or a terrestrial base station), a device may be configured to calculate a doppler measurement and a range measurement and report such measurements to be used by a location server to calculate a UE position. An example device may receive a first RS (with the first RS being one of a positioning reference signal (PRS) or a sounding reference signal (SRS)), receive a second RS associated with the first RS, calculate a doppler measurement based on one or both of the first RS or the second RS, and report the doppler measurement. The doppler measurement (such as a measured frequency offset) may be used by a location server to calculate a UE position on the earth surface.
