  • Patent number: 6744794
Abstract: A system and a method for handling laser-communication multiplexing in chaotic secure communications are disclosed. The messages to be multiplexed are encoded by chaotic laser signals of a transmitter system. The transmitted signals are then coupled to another chaotic system, the receiver system, so that the receiver and the transmitter are asymptotically synchronized. The decoding of the multiplexed messages encoded by chaotic behaviors is achieved by using a low-pass filter. This low-pass filter can effectively increase the fractal dimension of the chaotic system and enhance the periodicity of the transmitted time sequences, so that the multiplexed messages can be recovered.

  • Publication number: 20040099786
Abstract: An anti-glare rearview mirror assembly and a reflectance control method thereof are disclosed. The assembly includes an electrochromic rearview mirrors, two rearward light sensors, and a comparative controller. The sensors receiving a first rearward light from a first specified region and a second rearward light from a second specified region at the same time point, respectively, wherein the first and second specified regions partially overlap with each other. The intensities of the first and second rearview mirror light are compared to obtain a light difference. The reflectance of the anti-glare rearview mirror is adjusted according to the light difference.

  • Publication number: 20040044571
Abstract: An Internet advertisement listings provider that distributes advertisements in a bid-for-placement arrangement based on the revenue-efficiency of the advertisements from the bidding advertisers that calculates the revenue to the advertising distribution system by multiplying the click-through rate times the bid amount for each click-through. Advertisers may be allowed to provide multiple advertisements to enable the advertisement listings provider to select from those various advertisements for inclusion in ranked listings based on a determined efficiency among the advertisements. The system also determines the most efficient grouping of advertisements for a limited-space output, comparing groupings of advertisements to other groups to determine the greater revenue to the distribution system.

  • Publication number: 20030191569
Abstract: A vehicular monitor is controlled by either a manual control device or an automatic control device. In response to an activation state of one of the manual control device and the automatic control device, a first actuating signal is asserted to adjust the working condition of the vehicular monitor according to the first actuating signal. In response to an activation state of the other of the manual control device and the automatic control device, the first actuating signal is asserted and a second actuating signal is asserted in stead to adjust the working condition of the vehicular monitor according to the second actuating signal. The vehicular monitor is for example a rearview mirror, a camera or a display. The working condition of the vehicular monitor is adjusted for example by moving or rotating the rearview mirror, changing focus of camera or zooming in/out the display.

  • Publication number: 20030117112
Abstract: A method and apparatus for implementing a smart management of a rechargeable battery provides the basic capabilities to measure the operating parameters of a rechargeable battery including voltage, temperature and current flow, used subsequently to control the flow of charge/discharge current and for determining the operation mode of the rechargeable battery. The control circuit includes a central processing unit to manage the charge/discharge operation and control the current flow; a trickle charger for slow charging; a cutoff switch to turn off the temperature detector; and an economizer switch to reduce power loss during normal charging of the battery. If the operating voltage of the battery is below a predetermined limit, the system automatically switches to a self-cutoff mode. Through a combination of the above control means, battery management for rechargeable batteries can be improved notably.
