  • Patent number: 7170372
Abstract: An electro-acoustic transducer for a component operating with surface waves, in particular for a surface wave filter, in which, to suppress interfering excitation ensuing in the gap region adjacent an end of a finger, a variation of the gaps is implemented with regard to at least one feature selected from transversal arrangement, size and shape. Due to the slight dimension change of the position of the gap in comparison to the finger length, the desired primary excitation in the transducer remains approximately unchanged, however the interfering excitation is displaced or divided, and made ineffectual.

  • Publication number: 20060284307
Abstract: An electrical component has electrically conducting structures placed on an electrically isolating or semiconductive substrate and component structures sensitive to a voltage or an electrical arcing and galvanically separated from one another. To prevent an arcing between the galvanically separated component structures, the component structures are short-circuited with a shunt line having a smaller cross-section than the remaining electrical conductor tracks. The shunt lines can be burnt through by application of an electrical current at any given time, whereby a galvanic separation of the component structures is effected, if necessary, for the function of the component.

  • Publication number: 20060175639
Abstract: For a component operating with acoustic waves, it is proposed to arrange the electrode structure over a mechanically stable adaptation layer that serves to dissipate the electromechanical stresses. Further improvements of the output compatibility are achieved with additional intermediate layers and passivation layers applied on the sides or the entire surface over the electrode structure.

  • Publication number: 20060158061
Abstract: The invention relates to an electroacoustic transducer for a component operating with surface waves, comprising two electrodes having alternately arranged fingers and stub fingers, each connected to a bus bar, the opposing fingers and stub fingers being separated from one another by gaps. In this case, the position of the gaps in the transverse direction preferably has a periodic variation. The pattern of the variation in the gap positions, which, in particular, influences the excitation intensity of the acoustic wave in the edge region of the transducer, is selected so that the excitation profile of the acoustic wave is adjusted to the predetermined energy density profile. As a result of such an adjustment, it is possible to significantly reduce signal losses at the resonant frequency.

  • Patent number: 7057478
Abstract: A component that functions with bulk acoustic waves, particularly a bandpass filter, has an increased number of degrees of design freedom in order to improve the transmission characteristics of the component. The component has BAW resonators coupled acoustically in the vertical and/or lateral direction through common electrodes, coupling layer systems and through the excitation of lateral acoustic modes. Through the acoustic coupling of the resonators, it is possible to create additional pole points in the transfer function so that in this manner, the rejection band characteristics of a bandpass filter can be improved. Through acoustic paths which are added in addition to the electrical connection, the insertion loss can be reduced. Through an acoustic coupling instead of an electrical connection, decoupling between input and output loops of a circuit can be achieved.

  • Publication number: 20060103486
Abstract: SAW component with improved temperature coefficient of frequency To reduce losses in a SAW component assembled on a piezoelectric substrate (S), the mass load on the metallization (M) is increased until the propagation velocity of the surface wave comes to rest below the propagation velocity of the fast shear wave. To limit the increase in the temperature coefficient of frequency in this process, a metallization with a significantly higher specific density than [that of] Al is used. The temperature coefficient of frequency of the component is simultaneously reduced by a compensation layer (K) applied to essentially the entire surface, said compensation layer being made of a material having a temperature dependency of the elastic coefficient that counteracts that of the substrate-metallization combination.

  • Publication number: 20060076852
Abstract: An electroacoustic component including a layer system disposed between two substrates and electroacoustic structures for exciting a guided bulk acoustic wave, the electroacoustic structures being devoid of cavities. The layer system includes a piezo-electric layer, at least one metal layer, and a planarizing layer, which includes a planar interface provided with a substrate disposed directly thereabove. Such a component can be produced at a low cost by direct wafer bonding of two wafers. The electroacoustic component structures are electrically connected to the external contacts through perpendicular electrical connections.
