  • Patent number: 11281309
Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for user input to a computer. The apparatus consists of movable paddles with multiple axes of motion. The paddles are shaped to include means for holding the device while keeping a user's fingers and thumbs free to activate touch sensitive areas on the paddles. Both the positions of the paddles and the location of touches are used to determine the input codes sent to the computer.

  • Patent number: 11280698
Abstract: Non-contact methods of predicting an insertion loss of a test optical fiber connector are disclosed. Light is sent down the at least one optical fiber of the connector in the fundamental mode to emit an output light beam. The output-beam image is captured at different distances from the fiber end faces to define multiple output-beam images each associated with one of the multiple measurement positions. A Gaussian curve is then fitted to the multiple output-beam images to determine a mode field diameter, an offset, and a tilt of the output light beam. A Gaussian field model that incorporates the offset, the tilt, and the mode-field diameter is then used to predict the insertion loss when connecting to a reference optical fiber of a reference optical fiber connector.

  • Publication number: 20220086546
Abstract: The technology disclosed herein enables retention of an audio component on a mounting surface using a clip and a flange. In a particular embodiment, an apparatus includes a mounting surface including a flange. The flange is substantially cylindrical and includes a first portion for positioning a frame of an audio component therein under a retaining rim of the flange. The rim includes a second portion of the flange with a smaller inner diameter than the first portion of the flange. When the frame is positioned in the first portion of the flange, a clip positioned in the first portion of the flange between the frame and the retaining rim of the flange retains the audio component within the flange. Manipulating the shape of the clip allows the clip to fit through the retaining rim and into the first portion of the flange.

  • Publication number: 20220070954
Abstract: In a general aspect, a motion sensing topology of a multi-access point (multi-AP) wireless communication network can be controlled. In some aspects, the multi-AP wireless communication network includes a first AP device, a second AP device, and a multi-AP controller. The multi-AP controller identifies a wireless communication topology, which includes identifying that a first client station device is associated with the first AP device. The multi-AP controller defines a motion sensing topology that is different from the wireless communication topology, and the motion sensing topology includes a wireless motion sensing link between the first client station device and the second AP device. The multi-AP controller initiates a motion sensing measurement based on the motion sensing topology, and the motion sensing measurement uses the wireless motion sensing link while the first client station device remains associated with the first AP device.

  • Patent number: 11255144
Abstract: Disclosed herein are various embodiments of methods and systems for drilling an oil or gas well safely and efficiently using underbalanced or near-balanced drilling techniques, wherein the primary means of pressure control is a Annular Pressure Control Diverter positioned below the BOP stack, with a return flow pattern where no drilling fluid returns up the (traditional) annulus between the drill pipe and the production casing and instead drilling fluid returns up the annulus between the production casing and intermediate casing. Drilling fluid returns flow through a wellhead, instead of a flow spool conventionally located below an upper RCD, and hence to the drilling choke. This drilling approach eliminates the need for hydraulic fracturing and preserves the natural fracture system of the producing formation while providing additional safety measures. It also prevents the accidental or deliberate discharge or flaring of methane during drilling and production.

  • Publication number: 20220018209
Abstract: Disclosed herein are various embodiments of an Annular Pressure Control Diverter designed to be positioned below the conventional blowout preventer stack, and which will be activated during near balanced drilling operations to seal the annulus between the drill pipe and the production casing. Returned drilling fluid and produced fluids are diverted up the annulus between the production casing and intermediate casing and through a well head located below an all-inclusive BOP stack. The Annular Pressure Control Diverter does not rotate, and some embodiments have an elliptical internal cavity which ensures that the elliptical seals cannot rotate. Doors are provided on each side of the Annular Pressure Control Diverter to permit changing of the seal elements. Door locking mechanisms are provided for operator safety.
