  • Patent number: 8791386
Abstract: This invention relates to a method for cutting materials using a laser beam, which emerges from a cutting head comprising a cutting nozzle with an inner edge, and is absorbed by the cutting front. The axis of the laser beam is displaced in relation to a workpiece along a cutting line with a fixed orientation in the cutting direction of said workpiece. In this method the position (p) of the cutting head is modulated with regard to its time averaged value, or the laser power and gas pressure in the cutting head are modulated.

  • Publication number: 20100176102
Abstract: A method and device for machining material uses laser radiation, in which the unfocused laser radiation is focused through a focusing optics to a smaller beam cross section. The optical axis of the focused laser radiation, referred to as beam axis, is directed at the material surface. The beam waist, which results from the focusing operation, of the focused laser radiation is held in the region of the interface, which forms of laser radiation and material. The laser radiation is partially absorbed on the interface such that due to induced material removal or induced material displacement the interface and thus also the laser radiation penetrate into the material. The spacing of the beam waist from the upper or lower side of the interface in the axial direction corresponds at most to triple the value of the penetration depth of the interface into the material.

  • Publication number: 20090028731
Abstract: A ball bearing (1) has an inner race (2) and an outer race (3). In order to prevent the rotating parts from being damaged when the bearing assembly fails, the bearing has emergency bearing surfaces (14, 15) which are concentric to the rotational axis (6) and of which one is a part of the rotating bearing race and the other is a part of the fixed bearing race. During normal operation, the emergency bearing surfaces (14, 15) are situated opposite one another with a relatively narrow gap (24) therebetween. But, in the event of failure, the surfaces (14, 15) engage and function as emergency bearing surfaces.

  • Patent number: 7460956
Abstract: A lightning detection system provides an estimated location of a lightning stroke. The system includes sensors, and an analyzer. Each sensor provides messages having sensor identification, an amplitude responsive to the lightning stroke, and a time of detecting the lightning stroke. The analyzer applies time corrections and amplitude corrections to improve the accuracy of determining the location of the lightning stroke. Time adjustments and amplitude adjustments for the time and amplitude corrections are recalled from a matrix accessed according to a suggested or estimated location. The matrix may be organized by coordinates of longitude and latitude.

  • Patent number: 7422194
Abstract: A solenoid valve, such as, for example, a tank-vent valve f or tank venting in motor vehicles, includes at least one valve orifice forming a sealing seat, and a valve member, which cooperates with the sealing seat for releasing and closing it, the valve member being stressed by at least one spring element and activated by an electromagnet. An essentially unstressed neutral position of at least one additional spring element, which acts upon the valve member in the activation direction, is provided in which the valve member is set apart from the sealing seat. In this manner, the impact of the valve member on the sealing seat, which may be accompanied by distracting noises and wear, is damped.

The receiving channels (36) in one direction of curvature follow the curvature of the structural part of the first type (10). Thermal components, such as, for example, the curved exhaust lines of the exhaust system, can be accommodated in an integrating manner. Effective thermal shielding and noise insulation is ensured by overlapping.
