  • Patent number: 5847358
Abstract: A method is disclosed for removing material from moving metal workpieces, particular for cutting sheet metal. It entails preheating, without melting, the surface of the workpiece to a temperature at which ignition is triggered by a combustible gas directed onto the preheated section as a jet under pressure, while burnt material from the workpiece is blown away from the cut recess thus produced. In order to achieve smooth edges on large-gauge workpieces with a relatively high feed-rate, a laser beam is also directed onto the cutting front in the cut recess.

Abstract: A valve is provided for a metered introduction of fuel vapor evaporated from a fuel tank of an internal combustion engine into an intake tube of the engine. A valve housing which has an inflow fitting for connection to a ventilation fitting of the fuel tank or an adsorption filter for evaporated fuel vapors. The valve housing is connected to the fuel tank and has an outflow fitting for connection to the intake tube. An armature is provided inside the valve housing in which the armature is moved by an electromagnet and which is pressed against a valve seat by a valve spring when the electromagnet is without current. The armature closes a metering opening of a flow connection from the inflow fitting to the outflow fitting, and opens this flow connection to a greater or lesser degree when the electromagnet is supplied with current, wherein the metering opening has a V-shaped cross sectional area for improved metering.

  • Patent number: 5178116
Abstract: A tank vent valve for the metered admixing of volatilized fuel to the fuel/air mixture of an internal combustion engine has a valve housing with inflow and outflow sockets, between which is arranged an electromagnetically operable seated valve, which is spring loaded in the closing direction by a valve closing spring. For the simple design of the tank valve, the valve opening of the seat is arranged as a ring gap nozzle in the return yoke of the electromagnet, and the valve double seat which acts in conjunction with the valve member and which surrounds the ring gap nozzle is arranged on that side of the return yoke which faces the inflow socket. For setting the stroke of the valve member, the hollow cylindrical magnet core of the magnet housing can be threaded by means of an adjusting thread in the magnet housing. Supported on the magnet core is a valve closing spring, which loads the valve member which is formed by the armature of the electromagnet, in the closing direction.

  • Patent number: 4789473
Abstract: A filter comprising a filter housing with an interior within which between two closure members filter membranes in the form of hollow fibers are disposed. Between the hollow fibers a free flow space remains to which are connected two connecting pieces disposed inclined on the housing. Through said connecting pieces blood is supplied to the interior so that a filtration from the outside to the inside into the hollow fibers is possible. This and the arrangement of the connecting pieces gives an extremely favourable flow approach to the hollow fibers so that the blood flow is hardly influenced in its velocity and flow behaviour because in addition to the cross-section of the free flow space is adapted to the cross section of the blood supply line. For making such a filter at least two filters are arranged parallel and spaced apart in a plane, the support surface for the filters being rotatably mounted and the axis of rotation not intersecting any of the two longitudinal axes of the filters.
