Abstract: A quota management method includes: sending, by a client, a charging request to a server, where the charging request carries quota request information and information of quota usage; receiving, by the client, a granted quota and indication information from the server; processing, by the client, the granted quota and a remaining quota on the client based on the indication information, where the remaining quota is a difference between a quota granted by the server last time and the quota usage in the charging request; and using, by the client, a processed quota, and reporting information of usage of the processed quota when a reporting condition is met.

The method includes: generating, by a CTF, a resource quota request according to a trigger condition; and sending the resource quota request to an online charging system (OCS), so that the OCS determines a quota type and number after receiving the resource quota request, and allocates a quota for the resource quota request according to the quota type and number determined by the OCS, where the quota type and number are determined by the OCS according to the resource quota request. In the foregoing method, a problem that in the prior art, a charging control error occurs due to different determining bodies of a quota type is solved.

The disclosed embodiments can simplify a network connection between a visited-place PGW and an OCS of another operator that has a roaming agreement with the visited-place operator, reduce network connection complexity, and improve network connection efficiency.

Abstract: A charging method and apparatus to resolve a problem that there is no solution at present to charging based on a traffic steering policy. The method includes receiving, by a charging trigger entity, a data packet, determining, by the charging trigger entity according to identification information carried in the data packet, a traffic steering policy used by the data packet, where the traffic steering policy indicates a service enabler processing the data packet, and sending, by the charging trigger entity, usage information of the traffic steering policy to a charging system, where the usage information of the traffic steering policy is used for charging.

Abstract: A policy and charging rules function (PCRF) device includes a memory storage comprising instructions, at least one network interface, and at least one processor coupled to the memory and to the at least one network interface. The instructions are executed by the at least one processor to receive a policy request of a first user sent by a gateway device; determine, according to the policy request, that the first user needs to use a counter of a second user; acquire a current status of the counter of the second user using a session of the second user established between the PCRF device and a charging system; and generate a control policy of the first user according to the current status of the counter of the second user and send the control policy to the gateway device.
