  • Publication number: 20200099495
Abstract: In some implementations, an apparatus transmits information indicating a modulation and coding scheme (MCS) table for transmitting non-legacy acknowledgement (ACK) frames during a ranging operation to a responder device, receives a ranging frame including an indication of whether the responder device is capable of supporting the indicated MCS table, and transmits to the responder device an ACK frame using an MCS that is based on the capability of the responder device to support the MCS table. In other implementations, the apparatus receives from an initiator device information indicating an MCS table for transmitting non-legacy ACK frames during the ranging operation, transmits a ranging frame including an indication of whether the apparatus is capable of supporting the indicated MCS table, and receives from the initiator device an ACK frame transmitted using an MCS that is based on the capability of the apparatus to support the MCS table.

  • Publication number: 20200068520
Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer-readable media, for a ranging protocol between two wireless local area network (WLAN) devices. In one aspect, the ranging protocol may be adjusted based on channel quality of a wireless medium between the WLAN devices. For example, a quantity of ranging frames and bandwidth for the ranging frames may be adjusted based on the channel quality. In some implementations, the channel quality may be determined using setup messages for the ranging protocol without a wireless association between the WLAN devices. The ranging protocol may be useful for range determination in an indoor environment where a WLAN is deployed. In some implementations, the ranging protocol may be used to determine a location of a WLAN device.

  • Publication number: 20190379434
Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media, for detecting motion using wireless local area network (WLAN) communications. A first WLAN device having multiple antennas (radios) may determine a metric based on differences in spatial signal processing characteristics between the multiple antennas. By comparing changes in the metric over a plurality of wireless signals over time, the first WLAN device may detect motion in the environment near the first WLAN device. The spatial signal processing characteristics may be based on received WLAN communications from a second WLAN device, based on beamforming feedback from the second WLAN device, or based on wireless signal reflections detected by the first WLAN device. Various techniques may be used to adjust or mitigate random phase differences between two antennas on some tones. Motion detection based on WLAN communications may trigger activities or notifications by the first WLAN device.

  • Publication number: 20190138170
Abstract: The present disclosure discloses a method of displaying a cascading menu that includes a plurality of submenus. The method determines a first submenu as indicated for browsing by a user based on a clicking event of the user. When an operation interface of the first submenu is in a collapsed mode, a number of submenus that are currently in an expanded mode within an operation interface of the cascading menu is counted. When the number of submenus that are currently in the expanded mode reaches a defined threshold, at least a second submenu is selected from the submenus that are currently in the expanded mode, and an operation interface of the second submenu is shrunk. The operation interface of the first submenu is expanded. Therefore, a size of the operation interface of the cascading menu will not increase as the number of the expanded submenus increases. As such, the amount of a page space occupied by the cascading menu is reduced and utilization of the page space is improved.

  • Patent number: 10277425
Abstract: Generally, the described techniques provide for protection mechanisms for sounding training signals transmitted between wireless devices when performing ranging sounding estimation. For example, sounding training signals may be encoded to include a sequence of phase rotations or cyclic shifts to protect the sounding training signal from peer devices. In some cases, encoding information associated with a long training field (LTF) may be transmitted either before or after the LTF is transmitted. Additionally or alternatively, a time delay may be introduced to the sounding training signal, where timing information may be removed from one or more fields of the sounding training signal and the time delay may be appended to an interframe spacing. Alternatively, a frame may be split into multiple frames with the sounding training signal in a first frame, and timing information in a second frame that is offset in time from the first frame.
