    Abstract: A structure having a cavity or enclosed space is fabricated by forming a recessed region in a surface of a substrate, and providing a first layer adjacent the recessed region. A liquid mixture including first and second components is supplied to the recessed region. The first component has a higher chemical affinity to the first layer than the second component such that the first component separates from the second component and adheres to an edge portion of the first layer. The substrate may then be heated to remove the second component from the recessed region through evaporation. As a result, the first component remains as a second layer adhering to the edge portion of the first layer and covering the recessed region, thereby defining a cavity or enclosed space with the recessed region. Unique structures including such cavities may be employed to realize a capacitor having a fluid, as opposed to solid, dielectric material, in order to increase the capacitance of the capacitor.

The process involves blending a plurality of blendstocks to produce an xBOB, withdrawing a sample of the xBOB, obtaining spectroscopic measurements for the sample, applying mathematical models that were based on correlation of xBOB spectra to associated oxygenate-containing gasoline properties, to predict laboratory analysis results for oxygenate-containing gasoline properties, and using the analysis results to control and optimize the blending process.

    Abstract: An array optical subassembly has a substrate, at least one optical active component, a driver IC, a circuit board and a cover covering the foregoing elements. The substrate has two opposite surfaces, wherein one surface is formed by a lens array and the other surface is formed by metal pads, lines and alignment keys. The optical active component has a source array aligned to the lens array when the optical active component is connected to the metal pads on the substrate. The driver IC and the circuit board are also connected to the metal pads on the substrate to drive the optical active component. The lens array is directly formed on the substrate so the source array is aligned to the lens array very well by the alignment keys when the optical active component connected to the substrate.

    Abstract: A system for separating and extracting heavy metals from polluted liquid waste includes a pressurizing unit for pressurizing an extracting solvent using a high-pressure gas, so that the extracting solvent contains supersaturated air and is then jetted into a pneumatic stirring, reacting and separating apparatus, in which the supersaturated air in the extracting solvent instantaneously leaches out to thereby produce a large quantity of micro-sized extracting solvent-bearing bubbles that react with heavy metal-polluted liquid waste contained in the pneumatic stirring, reacting and separating apparatus to separate heavy metals from water. A gas supplying device is connected to and supplies gas to the pneumatic stirring, reacting and separating apparatus to stir the heavy metal-polluted liquid waste. And, a pumping unit is connected to the pneumatic stirring, reacting and separating apparatus to pump out heavy metal-separated water to achieve the object of removing heavy metals from liquid waste.
