  • Publication number: 20180298520
Abstract: Disclosed is a method for depositing ultrathin C8-BTBT, PTCDA and their heterojunctions with precise control of the molecular layers. In the method, source of the organic semiconductor material to grow (C8-BTBT or PTCDA) and a support are spaced from each other in a vacuum chamber with a temperature gradient, and ultrathin organic semiconductor crystal can be deposited on the support in crystalline form and with precisely controlled molecular layers. The as-deposited C8-BTBT or PTCDA crystals can be one-molecular-layer or two-molecular-layer in thickness and has full coverage on the support without any additional layers or voids. Ultrathin heterojunctions of these two-dimensional organic semiconductors can also be achieved.

  • Publication number: 20180193803
Abstract: The further advancement of membrane separation processes requires the development of more selective membranes. In this study, membranes that take inspiration from biological systems and use multiple functionalities of unique chemical design to control solute transport through chemical factors in addition to steric factors are detailed. Specifically, copolymer materials tailor-made for the generation of nanofilters that possess a high density of well-defined pores lined by azido moieties allowed for the generation of chemically-patterned mosaic membranes in a rapid manner through the use of printing devices. By engineering the composition of the reactive ink solutions used for chemical functionalization, large areas of patterned membranes were generated in seconds rather than hours. Charge mosaic membranes were used as an example of this novel platform.

  • Patent number: 9828271
Abstract: Disclosed is a modified activated sludge-based two-compartment treatment method for processing nitrate-contaminated drinking water. Raw water is firstly sent to a first TiO2-modified denitrifying activated sludge bioreactor (2), wherein organic carbon source is added in a controlled amount, and nitrate is partly reduced with nitrite being accumulated. Then, the effluent from the first bioreactor is sent to a second TiO2-modified denitrifying activated sludge bioreactor (3), wherein organic carbon source and hydrogen gas are supplemented, and remaining nitrate and accumulated nitrite are reduced to nitrogen gas. The denitrified effluent from the second bioreactor is sent to a settling tank (4), and TiO2-containing precipitates collected from the settling tank receive sequential alkaline and acidic treatment before being injected into the first bioreactor (2) for TiO2 recycling.
