  • Publication number: 20060154679
Abstract: A method and system for synchronizing transmission/reception timings delayed during transmission/reception of data frames for voice signals in a mobile communication system including a media gateway with a transcoder and a base station controller for exchanging digital voice signals with the media gateway. The media gateway or the base station controller performs synchronization control by detecting synchronization of forward data frames for the voice signals. As the base station controller requests synchronization, the media gateway adjusts transmission timing and acquires synchronization according to the adjusted transmission timing, thereby correctly transmitting/receiving data frames for the voice signals.

  • Patent number: 7062226
Abstract: A method for transmitting a signal from a base station transceiver system (BTS) to a base station controller (BSC) when there is no data transmitted from a mobile station while in discontinuous transmission (DTX) mode, in a mobile communication system. Upon detection of the discontinuous transmission mode, it is determined what type of frame was last transmitted from the mobile station, and the present power control information is set according to the type of frame. Thereafter, the base station transceiver system transmits a reverse message including the present power control information to the base station controller over a dedicated control channel. If there is data being transmitted between the mobile station and the base station transceiver system at the time where the discontinuous transmission mode is detected, the previous power control information is set to the present power control information.

  • Publication number: 20060104278
Abstract: A transmission apparatus and method for compressing headers in a broadband wireless communication system are provided. Upon receiving a packet to which a real-time transport protocol (RTP) header, a user datagram protocol (UDP) header, and an Internet protocol (IP) header are added, from an upper layer, a header compression protocol layer transmits the received packet without compressing the headers at initial transmission, and from the next transmission, compresses the headers according to a compression scheme provided in Internet technology. A header compression convergence sublayer classifies the packet according to initial-header information received from the header compression protocol layer, stores mapping information for the packet classification, and performs packet classification on a header-compressed packet using the mapping information.

  • Patent number: 7033847
Abstract: Determining the maximum number of dies that fit on a semiconductor wafer is disclosed. The x- and y-coordinates of an initial starting position on a semiconductor wafer are determined. The delta-x and delta-y offsets for subsequent starting positions are also determined. Starting at a current position equal to the initial starting position, the following is repeated for each of a predetermined number of times. First, the semiconductor wafer is covered with fields. Second, the number of dies that are completely covered by the semiconductor wafer is counted. Third, the current starting position is increased by the delta-x and the delta-y offsets. Once this has been repeated, the actual starting position is set as the current starting position at which the number of dies completely covered by the semiconductor wafer is maximized.

  • Publication number: 20060018552
Abstract: This disclosure describes rate control techniques that can improve video encoding. In particular, the described rate control techniques exploit relationships between the number of bits encoded per frame and the number of non-zero coefficients of the video blocks after quantization. The number of number of non-zero coefficients of the video blocks after quantization is referred to as rho (?). The value of ? is generally proportional to the number of bits used in the video encoding. This disclosure utilizes a relationship between ? and a quantization parameter (QP) in order to achieve rate controlled video encoding. More specifically, this disclosure provides techniques for generating a lookup table (LUT) that maps values of ? to different QPs.
