Abstract: Multi-type air conditioner comprising an outdoor unit installed in an outdoor, comprising a compressor, a refrigerant flow controlling part connected to a discharge end of the compressor for guiding the refrigerant proper to operation conditions selectively, an outdoor heat exchanger connected to the refrigerant flow controlling part, a defrosting device at a side of the outdoor heat exchanger, and a piping system connected between the parts, a plurality of indoor units each installed in a room and having an indoor heat exchanger and an electronic expansion valve having one end connected to one end of the indoor heat exchanger, and a distributor between the outdoor unit and the indoor units for selectively guiding refrigerant from the outdoor unit to the plurality of indoor units proper to operation conditions, and guiding the refrigerant passed through the indoor units to the outdoor unit again.

Abstract: An apparatus and a method for processing media data so that an MBS is supported in a BWA communication system. A traffic processing method supports an MBS in a broadband wireless access communication system having a number of base stations and at least one contents server for transmitting various media traffics to the base stations. The method includes reserving a resource for MBS burst assignment with regard to the base stations; requesting the contents server to provide a traffic to be transmitted to the base stations when the resource has been successfully reserved; shaping a media traffic transmitted by the contents server; and transmitting the media traffic to the base stations.

Abstract: Air conditioner, and method for controlling an operation of the same, the air conditioner including a sheath heater in the accumulator for heating the refrigerant in room heating for delaying deposition of frost on the outdoor heat exchanger. The sheath heater includes a coil formed heat generating part, and two electrodes connected to the heat generating part for supplying power. The method including the step of varying the heat generating rate of the sheath heater with an exterior temperature or a capacity of the indoor unit, thereby delaying deposition of frost on the outdoor heat exchanger.

Abstract: Disclosed are a phase-change memory device and its manufacturing method, which can reduce a contact area between a bottom electrode and a phase-change layer, thereby reducing the quantity of current necessary for phase change. The phase-change memory device comprises: a first oxide layer formed on a dielectric interlayer and a bottom electrode on a substrate and having a contact hole for exposing the bottom electrode formed in the first oxide layer; a spacer formed on a side surface of the contact hole; a phase-change layer formed on the spacer and the bottom electrode while forming a shape of another spacer; a second oxide layer filling in the contact hole while exposing an upper portion of the phase-change layer; and a top electrode formed on the first oxide layer while being in contact with the upper portion of the phase-change layer.

Abstract: Disclosed are a phase-change memory device and its manufacturing method, which can reduce a contact area between a bottom electrode and a phase-change layer, thereby reducing the quantity of current necessary for phase change. Abstract: To effectively lower the current required for changing a phase of a phase change layer in a phase change RAM device, metal pads are formed on a semiconductor substrate, and an oxide layer is formed on the metal pads. Nano-sized copolymer patterns aligned with the metal pads covered by the oxide layer are formed on the oxide layer. The oxide layer is etched to form oxide layer patterns by using the nano-sized copolymer patterns as barrier. The nano-sized copolymer patterns are then removed. A nitride layer is deposited and then etched to expose the oxide layer patterns. The exposed oxide layer patterns are removed to form nano-sized holes exposing the metal pads. Bottom electrodes are then formed in the nano-sized holes. A phase change layer and a top electrode are formed on each of the bottom electrodes.

Abstract: A method of providing LBS (Location-Based Services) in a mobile communication system is provided. A Mobile Station (MS) entering an incoming call rejection service area is precluded from receiving incoming calls. When a call connection to the MS is requested, the call connection is blocked from the MS, and a call connection unavailable message is transmitted to a calling MS.

Abstract: A method of supporting reverse channel gating in a BS (Base Station) of a mobile communication system. At a handoff from a first BS to a second BS, the first BS transmits to the second BS information about whether an MS (Mobile Station) transmits data on the channel to the first BS in a reverse gating mode. The second BS determines whether to support the reverse gating mode after the handoff. Then the second BS transmits to the first base station a handoff request acknowledgement message including information whether the second BS supports the reverse gating mode after the handoff.

The first BS sends a handoff required message to the MSC according to the movement of the MS to the second BS. Abstract: A method for performing a handoff of a mobile station (MS) from a first base station (BS) to a second BS in a mobile communication system. The first BS sends a handoff required message, which includes a service type identifier of a concurrent service of the voice and packet data and a service configuration record, to the MSC. The second BS determines whether it can communicate with the MS using a radio resource specified in the service type identifier and the service configuration record, and when it cannot, sends to the MSC a new service type identifier and a new service configuration record for communicating either the voice or packet data with the MS. Abstract: Disclosed is a method and system for multiplexing and transmitting a signaling message and supplementary data in a mobile communication system including a media gateway using packet-based transmission and a base station controller. Using Dim-and-Burst (DB) and Blank-and-Burst (BB) newly proposed as the media gateway includes a vocoder, the base station controller requests the media gateway to decrease a voice data rate during voice data transmission to the media gateway in order to multiplex a signaling message and supplementary data and transmit the multiplexed data to a mobile station. Then the vocoder in the media gateway decreases the data rate, thereby efficiently transmitting a signaling message and supplementary data together with voice data.

Abstract: A method for controlling operation modes of a medium access control layer by a mobile subscriber station in a broadband wireless access communication system including the mobile subscriber station and a serving base station providing service to the mobile subscriber station is provided. The method includes the steps of: mode-transiting into an idle mode when there is no data transmission between the serving base station and the mobile subscriber station during a predetermined first time interval in an awake mode; detecting movement of the mobile subscriber station in the idle mode into another paging zone covering a target base station, which is different from a paging zone covering the serving base station; and mode-transiting into the awake mode and performing location update together with the target base station when the movement of the mobile subscriber station is detected.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method for providing a broadcast service in a mobile communication system using code division multiple access (CDMA) technology. The novel method controls transmission of broadcast service data according to base station areas by registering a mobile station with a broadcast service. For that purpose, the mobile station requests an authentication server to authenticate a desired broadcast service, and registers the authenticated broadcast service in a packet data serving node via a base station so that the base station and the packet data serving node can set up a transmission path for the broadcast service. The method increases the efficiency of base station resources by controlling transmission times of base stations, and the packet data serving node can perform accounting on the broadcast service of the mobile station.

Abstract: A method for controlling operation modes of a medium access control layer by a mobile subscriber station in a broadband wireless access communication system including the mobile subscriber station and a serving base station providing service to the mobile subscriber station is provided. The method includes the steps of: mode-transiting into an idle mode when there is no data transmission between the serving base station and the mobile subscriber station during a predetermined first time interval in an awake mode; detecting movement of the mobile subscriber station in the idle mode into another paging zone covering a target base station, which is different from a paging zone covering the serving base station; and mode-transiting into the awake mode and performing location update together with the target base station when the movement of the mobile subscriber station is detected.

Abstract: A method of establishing a supplemental channel (SCH) to provide burst timing for high-speed data transmission in a mobile communication system is disclosed. In the SCH establishing method, a source base station transceiver determines that a traffic burst exists and sends a target base station transceiver a burst request message. The burst request message includes forward and reverse burst timing information and channel use time information, which is determined in consideration of a discontinuous transmission (DTX) mode, in order to reserve necessary resources, when a large amount of high rate data is to be transmitted. Then, the target base station transceiver sends the source base station transceiver a burst response message including information about resources committed to the traffic burst.
