    Abstract: An inverter for a display includes; an inverter controller generating a carrier signal for pulse width modulation and a lamp driving signal having on-time and off-time by pulse width modulating a dimming signal based on the carrier signal and controlling the on-time of the lamp driving signal in response to at least one of a vertical synchronization signal and a vertical synchronization start signal from the signal controller, a power switching element transmitting a DC voltage in response to a signal from the inverter controller, and a voltage booster for driving a lamp in response to a signal from the switching element, wherein the inverter controller includes a control block which generates the carrier signal and the lamp driving signal, a time constant setting block which determines a time constant of the carrier signal, and an initiation block which resets the time constant given by the time constant setting block.

The inverter includes a temperature sensor sensing a temperature and generating an output voltage based on the sensed temperature, a buffer generating an output signal having a state depending on the output voltage of the temperature sensor, an oscillator generating an oscillating signal having a frequency depending on the state of the output signal of the buffer, and an inverter performing a switching operation in response to the oscillating signal from the oscillator. Therefore, the inverter increases the voltage applied to the light source when the temperature near the light source is lower than a predetermined temperature since the frequency of the oscillating signal is increased.

    Abstract: An apparatus of driving a lamp for a display device is provided. The driving apparatus includes an inverter (920), a lamp current sensor (940), and an inverter controller (930). The lamp current sensor (940)senses a current flowing in the lamp and output a feedback signal having a magnitude depending on the sensed current. The inverter controller (930) compares a dimming control signal from an external device with the feedback signal and controls the inverter (920) based on the comparison. The inverter (920) includes a transformer (T1) for applying a lamp drive voltage to a lamp for turning on or off the lamp and a voltage sensor (928) sensing the lamp drive voltage. The inverter (920) adjusts a turns ratio of the transformer in accordance with the sensed lamp drive voltage.

The normal lighting determiner compares the sensing voltages to a reference voltage for determining an operating state of the lamps to output a determination signal and varies the reference voltage in response to a change in the operating state of the lamps. The inverter controller outputs the control signal in response to the determination signal.

A control unit of the dish washer counts an actual drying time in a drying operation of the dishwasher, and opens the shutter by operating the shutter driving device in response to the counted drying time being equal to or greater than a preset drying time. The odor eliminating material eliminates odors in the dishwasher.

The second contact portion may also have a hole. The connecting portion electrically connects the first contact portion to the second contact portion. The first external electrode is securely connected to the second external electrode, thereby improving reliability of the flat fluorescent lamp.

    Abstract: A photomask blank includes a hard mask having an excellent etch selectivity with respect to an opaque layer. The photomask blank includes a light-transmissive substrate, an opaque chromium layer disposed on the light-transmissive substrate, and a hard mask layer disposed on the opaque chromium layer. The hard mask layer is of a conductive material having an etch selectivity of at least 3:1 with respect to the opaque chromium layer against an etch gas mixture including chlorine gas and oxygen gas. Also, a resist layer is disposed on the hard mask layer. Alternatively, a phase shift layer can be interposed between the light-transmissive substrate and the opaque chromium layer. Preferably, the hard mask layer is formed of Mo or MoSi. First, the resist layer is patterned, and the hard mask is etched using the patterned resist as an etch mask. Then the chromium layer is etched using the patterned hard mask as an etch mask.
