  • Patent number: 7697954
Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for signaling a maximum UE transmitter power to a Node B for use in scheduling of uplink packet transmission in a mobile communication system. The Node B receives uplink channel status information from a UE and a maximum UE transmitter power from an RNC. The maximum UE transmitter power is the lower of the maximum allowed UL Tx power and the maximum Tx power of the UE. The Node B then schedules uplink packet transmission from the UE based on the uplink channel status information and the maximum UE transmitter power.

  • Publication number: 20100048225
Abstract: A paging apparatus and method in a mobile communication system providing an MBMS (Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Service). In the mobile communication system, to page a UE for a first service through a primary carrier during a second service in progress through a secondary carrier, a PICH (Paging Indication Channel) transmitter in a Node B transmits paging indication information to the UE through the primary carrier by oscillating the primary carrier as a transmission frequency. A PCH (Paging Channel) transmitter transmits paging information to the UE through the primary carrier or the secondary carrier by oscillating the primary carrier or the secondary carrier as the transmission frequency under a predetermined control. A PBMSCH (Physical Broadcast Multicast Shared Channel) transmitter transmits data of the second service through the secondary carrier by oscillating the secondary carrier as the transmission frequency.

  • Patent number: 7668563
Abstract: A method for configuring gain factors in a WCDMA telecommunication system is provided in which the gain factor for defining power required for normal reception of uplink data in an environment supporting an uplink service over an E-DCH can be configured using minimal signaling information. First gain factors for first TFs corresponding to a part of a TF set including a plurality of TFs available for an uplink service are received. One of the first TFs is determined as a reference TF for a second TF other than the first TFs in the TF set. Then, a second gain factor for the second TF is calculated using the first gain factor for the determined reference TF. The second gain factor is used for transmitting or receiving uplink data.

  • Patent number: 7639650
Abstract: An apparatus and method in which an Enhanced Uplink Dedicated transport CHannel (EUDCH) is used in a Wideband Code Division Multiple Access (WCDMA) system is provided. In a User Equipment (UE), when physical channels for transmitting EUDCH data are transmitted in addition to existing physical channels, a Peak-to-Average Power Ratio (PAPR) of an uplink transport signal increases. The increase in PAPR depends upon Orthogonal Variable Spreading Factor (OVSF) codes allocated to the corresponding physical channels and In-phase/Quadrature-phase (I/Q) channels. Therefore, the apparatus and method allocate optimum OVSF codes and I/Q channels to EUDCH-related physical channels in order to minimize an increase in PAPR due to EUDCH.

  • Patent number: 7606212
Abstract: A system and method are provided for setting gain factors for dedicated physical channels in a mobile communication system supporting E-DCH service. If the E-DCH is established without the legacy DCH, the UE sets a gain factor for a DPCCH related to the DCH to a predetermined constant and calculates gain factors for dedicated physical channels related to the E-DCH using the gain factor of the DPCCH. In another embodiment of the present invention, if the E-DCH is established without the legacy DCH, the RNC sets a gain factor for a DPCCH related to a virtual DCH to a predetermined constant and sends channel configuration information including the gain factor to the UE.

  • Publication number: 20090219883
Abstract: Disclosed is an apparatus and method for transmitting the synchronization signal in an Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) based cellular system. The cell search process widely used in the OFDM based cellular system is divided into two steps for obtaining the frame timing synchronization and obtaining the cell-specific scrambling code. When designing the channel for obtaining the frame timing synchronization and the channel for obtaining the cell-specific scrambling code, different frequency reuse factors are applied to the synchronization channels of different steps according to the characteristics of each synchronization obtainment step in order to improve the performance of each step.

  • Publication number: 20090213814
Abstract: Disclosed is a method and apparatus for providing uplink packet data services through an E-DCH in an asynchronous WCDMA system. A transport block size (TBS) for transmitting uplink transport channel data is determined. A combination of a spreading factor and a modulation scheme for uplink channel data transmission, corresponding to the determined TBS, is selected according to transmittable physical channel data bit sizes and puncturing limit values. The TBS is transmitted by incorporating it into control information of the uplink transport channel data. The modulation scheme and spreading factor combination is determined based on a physical channel data bit size that maximizes transmission efficiency and minimizes the number of punctured bits, without requiring an additional physical channel in transmitting the uplink data having the TBS. This method maximizes uplink transmission efficiency to save transmission resources and reduces signaling overhead required to transmit E-DCH control information.

  • Patent number: 7561550
Abstract: A scheduling method and apparatus are provided for soft handover in a user equipment (UE) in in a mobile communication system supporting an enhanced uplink packet data service. A receiver receives dedicated scheduling assignment information for dedicated scheduling assignment from a serving Node B, and receives at least one scheduling grant indicator for common scheduling assignment from at least one non-serving Node B. A first scheduling decider determines a combined scheduling grant indicator by combining at least one scheduling grant indicator received from the at least one non-serving Node B. A second scheduling decider determines whether to use the combined scheduling grant indicator according to a predetermined reference, and a maximum rate of an uplink according to the dedicated scheduling assignment information or the combined scheduling grant indicator. A transport format decider determines a transport format of an uplink within the maximum rate.

  • Patent number: 7499424
Abstract: Disclosed is a method and apparatus for efficiently transmitting/receiving transmission power status information (TPS) and buffer state information (BO) of a user equipment (UE). Under the assumption that an enhanced uplink dedicated transport channel (EUDCH) is used for an uplink data transmission in an asynchronous code division multiple access (CDMA) system, a scheduler of a Node B performs a scheduling operation such as transmission timing of EUDCH packet data, data rate assignment, and the like. The scheduler receives the EUDCH packet data BO, TPS, and the like, and efficiently performs processes of start/continuation/end of the TPS transmission.

  • Publication number: 20090041139
Abstract: A method and apparatus for transmitting/receiving pilot symbols for demodulation of control channel information in the uplink of a wireless communication system are provided. When an Evolved Node B (ENB) expects to receive both the Channel Quality Information (CQI) and the Acknowledgement (ACK)/Negative ACK (NACK) from a User Equipment (UE) in a certain subframe, if the UE transmits only the CQI channel, the ENB is prevented to detect the nonexistent ACK/NACK information from the CQI channel, thereby avoiding false alarm.
