  • Publication number: 20080285529
Abstract: A method and apparatus for transmitting a pilot signal in a wireless communication system. A reference cell scrambling code or one of a plurality of additional cell scrambling codes is selected for each combination of one of a plurality of first scrambling codes (PSCs) applied to a first synchronization channel (P-SCH) and one of a plurality of second scrambling codes (SSCs) applied to a second synchronization channel (S-SCH). It is determined whether to transmit the pilot signal using the reference cell scrambling code or one of the plurality of additional cell scrambling codes. The reference cell scrambling code or the additional cell scrambling code is generated according to the determination. The pilot signal is transmitted using the generated reference cell scrambling code or the additional cell scrambling code.

  • Publication number: 20080273479
Abstract: A method and apparatus for transmitting a control channel in a base station for a wireless communication system. The base station transmits information including a number of channel elements constituting control channels, to a terminal; establishes a set of control channels that the terminal can receive, within the number of channel elements using an identifier (ID) of the terminal; and transmits control information to the terminal through a selected control channel among the control channels. The terminal is restricted to monitor only a proper number of control channels established without the need to monitor all control channels, thereby reducing reception complexity and avoiding unnecessary battery consumption.

  • Patent number: 7447516
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for data transmission in a mobile telecommunication system supporting an enhanced uplink service are provided. A Transport Format Combination (TFC) selector determines TF information for data to be transmitted through a first data channel not supporting Hybrid Automatic Repeat reQuest (HARQ) and a second data channel supporting HARQ, and determines gain factors for the first and second data channel, and first and second control channel carrying control information for the first and second data channel. The gain factors are input to a physical channel transmission controller, and the physical channel transmission controller scales-down the gain factor for the second channel if total transmit power required for transmission of the channels exceeds the predetermined maximum allowed power. A gain scaler adjusts transmit powers of the channels using the scaled gain factor and gain factors for the first data channel, the first control channel and the second control channel.

  • Publication number: 20080225964
Abstract: A method is provided for transmitting a downlink shared control channel including a control signal necessary for restoring a transmission data signal in a mobile communication system that transmits a data signal using multiple antennas. It is determined whether the transmission data signal is coded with two or more codewords before being transmitted. One of a first element index of a sub-codebook configured only with a one codeword-dedicated precoding in a precoding codebook and a second element index of a sub-codebook configured only with a more-than-two codeword- dedicated precoding is selected, according to the determination result. A control channel is generated by including the selected element index in the precoding information. The generated control channel is mapped to a particular resource block and the mapped control channel is transmitted to a particular reception apparatus.

  • Publication number: 20070258358
Abstract: Improvement of reception downlink common control channels in an Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM)-based cellular wireless communication system is provided by User Equipment (UE) using a downlink synchronization channel transmitted in an adjacent OFDM symbol as a pilot channel for channel estimation upon common control channel demodulation. When providing both unicast and multicast data services, OFDM symbol transmitting multicast data generally has a longer Cyclic Prefix (CP) than an OFDM symbol for unicast data than a signal frequency network. Therefore, length of CPs of OFDM symbols belonging to each subframe may change depending on whether multimedia data is transmitted. Although a UE does not recognize the length of a CP applied to a subframe in which a common control and a synchronization channel are transmitted, the UE can use a downlink synchronization channel as a channel estimation pilot to demodulate the common control channel.

  • Patent number: 7277407
Abstract: In a mobile communication system, if a UE enters a SHO (Soft Handover) region, the UE determines weight information for a DPCH and a PDSCH depending on DPCH signals and PDSCH signals received from Node Bs, and transmits the determined weight information to the Node Bs. The Node Bs then determine weights of the DPCH signals and the PDSCH signals to be transmitted to the UE depending on the feedback information received from the UE, and transmit the determined weights to the UE along with the DPCH signals and the PDSCH signals, respectively.

  • Publication number: 20070109964
Abstract: A method and apparatus for transmitting a happy bit indicating whether a UE needs additional resources for uplink data transmission in a mobile communication system supporting an uplink packet data service are provided. The UE sets a happy bit for a current process based on a different criterion, depending on the current process is an active process activated for scheduled transmission or an inactive process allowed for non-scheduled transmission. A Node B interprets happy bits received for a plurality of processes and interprets them according to the types of the processes. Then the Node B determines an allowed maximum data rate and the number of active processes for the UE and schedules uplink data transmission for the UE according to the determination result.
