  • Patent number: 7209456
Abstract: In an asynchronous CDMA mobile communication system supporting HSDPA (High Speed Downlink Packet Access), in order to assign power to a high speed physical downlink shared channel (HS-PDSCH), a power offset is determined and then provided to a Node B and a user equipment (UE). For this, an HS-PDSCH power offset is determined by a controlling radio network controller (CRNC) and a Node B, and then transmitted to the UE or the Node B.

  • Patent number: 7200124
Abstract: An RNC determines parameters available for measurement of a synchronization signal and second Node B information from a second Node B, transmits the determined parameters to a first Node B during radio link setup and to a UE during radio bearer setup, and transmits parameter selection information to the first Node B and the UE, if it is recognized that measurement of the synchronization signal and the second Node B information is necessary. The first Node B changes a position of a downlink time period over which a downlink channel is transmitted from the first Node B to the UE and a position of an uplink time period over which an uplink channel is transmitted from the UE to the first Node B, according to parameters selected from the parameters. The UE receives the synchronization signal and the second Node B information in the remaining time periods except the changed downlink time period and the changed uplink time period among the plurality of time periods.

  • Publication number: 20060286994
Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for signaling a maximum UE transmitter power to a Node B for use in scheduling of uplink packet transmission in a mobile communication system. The Node B receives uplink channel status information from a UE and a maximum UE transmitter power from an RNC. The maximum UE transmitter power is the lower of the maximum allowed UL Tx power and the maximum Tx power of the UE. The Node B then schedules uplink packet transmission from the UE based on the uplink channel status information and the maximum UE transmitter power.

  • Patent number: 7146552
Abstract: A transmitter simultaneously performs channel coding and rate matching in a CDMA mobile communication system. The transmitter encoders input bits into coded bits at a given mother code rate, and performs puncturing on the coded bits in order to match the number of coded bits to a predetermined code rate. Thereafter, the transmitter simultaneously performs rate matching for repeating or puncturing the coded bits in order to match the number of coded bits to the number of bits transmitted over a radio channel.

  • Publication number: 20060246847
Abstract: A method and apparatus for reporting a Buffer Status (BS) using Node B-estimated BS information in a mobile communication system are provided. A Node B-estimated BS and an actual BS of a User Equipment (UE) are monitored. A value of the Node B-estimated BS is compared with a first threshold value. If the Node B-estimated BS value is less than the first threshold, a determination is made as to whether the value of the actual BS is more than a second threshold. If the actual BS value is more than the second threshold, a Buffer Status Report (BSR) indicative of the actual BS is transmitted to a Node B.

  • Publication number: 20060183428
Abstract: A method for configuring gain factors in a WCDMA telecommunication system is provided in which the gain factor for defining power required for normal reception of uplink data in an environment supporting an uplink service over an E-DCH can be configured using minimal signaling information. First gain factors for first TFs corresponding to a part of a TF set including a plurality of TFs available for an uplink service are received. One of the first TFs is determined as a reference TF for a second TF other than the first TFs in the TF set. Then, a second gain factor for the second TF is calculated using the first gain factor for the determined reference TF. The second gain factor is used for transmitting or receiving uplink data.

Abstract: A system and method are provided for setting gain factors for dedicated physical channels in a mobile communication system supporting E-DCH service. If the E-DCH is established without the legacy DCH, the UE sets a gain factor for a DPCCH related to the DCH to a predetermined constant and calculates gain factors for dedicated physical channels related to the E-DCH using the gain factor of the DPCCH. In another embodiment of the present invention, if the E-DCH is established without the legacy DCH, the RNC sets a gain factor for a DPCCH related to a virtual DCH to a predetermined constant and sends channel configuration information including the gain factor to the UE.

  • Patent number: 7054633
Abstract: A radio network controller (RNC) transmits a power offset for controlling transmission power of an uplink high-speed dedicated physical control channel (HS-DPCCH) when a user equipment (UE) enters a handover region, in a mobile communication system including the RNC, a Node B connected to the RNC, and the UE located in one of at least two cell areas occupied by the Node B. The Node B transmits data to the UE over a high-speed downlink shared channel (HS-DSCH) and the UE transmits information indicating reception of the data to the Node B over the uplink HS-DPCCH. The RNC informs the UE of a power offset for determining a transmission power increment of the uplink HS-DPCCH, if it is determined that the UE is located in the handover region. The RNC informs the Node B of the power offset so that the Node B can determine a threshold value for determining information indicating reception of the data, depending on the power offset.

  • Patent number: 7010318
Abstract: Disclosed is a method for controlling uplink transmission power in a handover region by a UE in communication with a Node B using an FCS scheme. The UE stores TPC commands received for a specific duration from a plurality of cells in an active set, if the UE enters in the handover region during communication with a current best cell. If a next best cell is selected from the plurality of the cells, the UE determines a transmission power offset by comparing TPC commands from the current best cell with TPC commands from the next best cell for the specific duration at a time point where the best cell is changed from the current best cell to the next best cell. The UE transmits initial transmission power for the next best cell at a transmission power level determined considering the transmission power offset.
