  • Patent number: 7778338
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and device for estimating a timing error and a frequency offset in the MIMO mobile communication system. In a system including a plurality of transmit antennas and a plurality of receive antennas, a predetermined preamble symbol is inserted into a frame to be transmitted by a transmitting device, and pseudo noise is multiplied to the preamble symbol, and result signal is transmitted through each transmit antenna. A receiving device receives the signal through each receive antenna, extracts a preamble symbol from the OFDM symbol, and multiplies local pseudo noise that corresponds to the pseudo noise used by the transmitting device and is shifted by the extracted preamble symbol. A timing error is estimated and compensated according to the correlation of the pseudo noise of the transmitting device and the local pseudo noise of the receiving device. A frequency offset is estimated and compensated according to the phase difference between the preamble symbols.

  • Publication number: 20080008082
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for estimating a timing error and a frequency offset in a high-speed portable Internet system and a method thereof. A predetermined preamble symbol is added to an OFDM frame to be transmitted by a transmitter according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention, an IFFT operation is performed, and then a pseudo noise is multiplexed by the preamble symbol to estimate the timing error and the frequency offset. A receiver receives an OFDM symbol, extracts the preamble symbol from the OFDM symbol, and multiplexes the extracted preamble symbol by a local pseudo noise, which is equal to the pseudo noise used by the transmitter but is shifted.

  • Publication number: 20070153927
Abstract: An ICI cancellation iterative receiver and an ICI cancellation method in the wireless communication system is provided. In order to eliminate the Inter-carrier-interference (ICI) due to phase noise, an adaptive ICI cancellation scheme based on the wireless communication system is presented. In order to correct the contaminated preamble symbols due to phase noise, a first LMS adaptive filter in the receiver cancels the ICI. In the following data symbols of a frame, joint of the turbo decoder and channel estimation is provided. The complexity of the joint algorithm is analyzed and the algorithm can be implemented in the wireless communication system. The simulation results show that the performance can be improved dramatically.

  • Publication number: 20070074181
Abstract: To integrate a parent application and a child application, the parent application receives events through a user interface. If the events are to be processed by the child application, they are propagated to the child application. The child application generates content data based on the received events, writes the content data into a storage module, and then notifies the parent application. The parent application reads out the content data written in the storage module.

  • Patent number: 6891865
Abstract: A wavelength tunable laser comprising a laser diode and a closed external cavity formed by one or more optical resonators either horizontally or vertically coupled to adjacent waveguides. The optical resonator primarily functions as a wavelength selector and may be in the form of disk, ring or other closed cavity geometries. The emission from one end of the laser diode is coupled into the first waveguide using optical lens or butt-joint method and transferred to the second waveguide through evanescent coupling between the waveguides and optical resonator. A mirror system or high reflection coating at the end of the second waveguide reflects the light backwards into the system resulting in a closed optical cavity. Lasing can be achieved when the optical gain overcomes the optical loss in this closed cavity for a certain resonance wavelength which is tunable by changing the resonance condition of the optical resonator through reversed biased voltage or current injection.
