A recording medium having the data structure for managing video and its additional content data in accordance with the present invention comprises: a navigation area storing at least one navigation file, the navigation file including at least one navigation command group, at least one navigation command group including at least one navigation command for managing reproduction of additional content data to be reproduced with main data recorded on the recording medium, at least one command group indicating at least one playlist to reproduce, the at least one playlist including reproducing information related with the additional content data.

Abstract: A method for authenticating an interactive optical disk, wherein first content is stored on the interactive optical disk for reproduction by a reproducing system, the method comprising: transmitting a first request to a content server to access second content from the content server based on enhanced navigation data recorded on the interactive optical disk; and authenticating identity of the interactive optical disk with the content server based on authentication data provided by the reproducing system, when the first request indicates that authentication is required.

Abstract: The data structure for managing reproduction of at least video data recorded on the recording medium may include, for example, path management information for managing reproduction of the multiple reproduction path video data recorded on the recording medium. The path management information indicates at least one playlist belonging to each reproduction path. The data structure further includes at least one playlist file identified by the path management information recorded in a playlist area of the recording medium. The playlist file identifies at least one playitem, and each playitem identifies a clip of the multiple reproduction path video data. The data structure may includes chapter management information for managing reproduction of the video data by chapters. In one example, the chapter management information is recorded in the playlist files.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for transceiving audio data reproduced from a recording medium such as a digital video disk (DVD) through a digital interface such as IEEE 1394. The transmitting method according to the present invention separates an audio data stream from data reproduced from a recording medium, inserts the separated audio data stream into the private data area of an MPEG-formatted data stream, and transmits the MPEG-formatted data stream containing the audio data stream in the private data area through a digital communication line. The receiving method according to the present invention checks whether or not an MPEG-formatted data stream received through a digital interface includes the private data area, extracts audio data inserted in the private data area, and decodes the extracted audio data. As a result, the present invention does not require the conventional re-encoding process after decoding.

A player in which an interactive disk is seated accesses a server providing the additional contents of the A/V data recorded on the interactive disk before the interactive disk is reproduced, and receives updated information of the additional contents from the server. The player refers to the received updated information and determines whether an arbitrary file contained in an additional content list associated with the A/V data has been updated. Therefore, the player can always receive additional contents containing the updated file. According to this operation, the server enables the additional contents to be conveniently updated.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for presenting video data recorded on a recording medium in synchronization with text-based data is disclosed. The video data recorded on the recording medium is reproduced and presented based on video presentation reference time synchronized with program clock reference (PCR) included in the video data and the text-based data is presented based on text presentation reference time. If the presentation position of the video data changes discontinuously, the text presentation reference time as well as the video presentation reference time is adjusted accordingly.

The video data is recorded as video data packets and at least a portion of the video data packets associated with different reproduction paths for the segment are multiplexed. In one exemplary embodiment, the multiplexed video data packets are multiplexed on a video data packet basis. In another exemplary embodiment, the video data packets associated with each reproduction path for the segment are recorded as one or mores groups and the groups are multiplexed.
