  • Publication number: 20020197065
Abstract: The present invention relates to method and apparatus of recording/reproducing a non-MPEG formatted digital TV broadcast signal on/from a writable medium. The present recording method, when a digital TV broadcast signal composed of DirecTV transport packets is received, collects DirecTV transport packets as adding receiving time information to each packet optionally, slices the collected packets into 184-byte stream pieces, composes a Transport Packet defined in MPEG standard with each piece, and writes a series of Transport Packets on a recording medium. The present method can record a non-MPEG type of transport stream in MPEG recording format and reproduce the recorded transport stream to original DirecTV transport stream, whereby an applicability of a digital recorder is improved.

  • Publication number: 20020197059
Abstract: The present invention relates to method and apparatus of recording a multi-channel data stream on a recording medium in such a manner that substreams of digital channels constituting the multi-channel data stream can be distinguished each other in reproduction. The present recording method records a multi-channel stream composed of substreams belonging to plural selected channels in a single stream object while grouping every partial stream of same channel to a data block and interleaving the data blocks of different channels each other, creates a piece of search information for each substream contained in the recorded multi-channel stream, and records the created plural pieces of search information on the recording medium. The present method makes it possible to selectively search and reproduce each substream among a multi-channel stream recorded on a recording medium, thereby improving use convenience of a recording machine such as a digital video recorder.

  • Publication number: 20020197066
Abstract: The present invention relates to method and apparatus of recording/reproducing a non-MPEG formatted digital TV broadcast signal on/from a writable medium. The present recording method, when a digital TV broadcast signal composed of DirecTV transport packets is received, extracts data contained in DirecTV transport packets to form an A/V elementary stream, packetizes the A/V elementary stream into PES (Packetized Elementary Stream) packets, slices the PES packets into 184-byte stream pieces to produce a series of 188-byte Transport Packets defined in MPEG standard, and writes the series of Transport Packets sequentially on a recording medium. The present method can record a non-MPEG type of transport stream in MPEG recording format and reproduce the recorded transport stream to original DirecTV transport stream, whereby an applicability of a digital recorder is improved.

  • Publication number: 20020196361
Abstract: The present invention relates to method and apparatus of recording a multi-channel data stream on a recording medium in such a manner that substreams of digital channels constituting the multi-channel data stream can be distinguished each other in reproduction. The present recording method separates a multi-channel stream composed of substreams belonging to a plurality of channels into individual substreams, records the individual substreams separately by channel in plural stream objects allocated in a recording medium, creates a piece of search information every a substream contained in the recorded multi-channel stream, and records the created plural pieces of search information on the recording medium. The present method makes it possible to selectively search and reproduce each substream among a multi-channel stream recorded on a recording medium, thereby improving use convenience of a recording machine such as a digital video recorder.

  • Publication number: 20020191115
Abstract: The present invention relates to method and apparatus of recording digital data stream on a recording medium such as a high-density digital versatile disk. The present recording method searches received digital data stream containing video signals for each picture section, packetizes a data section including at least one picture section found in the searching process into a PES (Packetized Elementary Stream) packet, slices the PES packet to make the sliced data pieces to a plurality of transport packets, and writes the plurality of transport packets within a stream object unit if the stream object unit has a space enough to store the plurality of transport packets, or from head point of a next stream object unit if not. Therefore, the head of each stream object unit is aligned with start of an arbitrary picture, thereby improving random accessibility of A/V data stream recorded on a recording medium.

  • Publication number: 20020159348
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of writing audio data to a rewritable recording medium as grouping the written audio data into each Audio Object Unit (AOBU). This method changes AOBU grouping criterion such as time or size if a bit rate of input audio data being written to the rewritable disk is changed, and groups written audio data into each AOBU in accordance with the changed AOBU grouping criterion while recording. As a result, an amount of management information to be created for each AOBU is reduced remarkably even if the bit rage of input audio data is relatively low.

  • Publication number: 20020150392
Abstract: A method and apparatus for recording digital data streams. When a digital broadcast data stream received by a set top box is transmitted through a communication interface such as an IEEE-1394 bus to a streamer, program clock references contained in the data stream become different from the actual arrival time of the digital data stream because of different clock frequencies of the digital data stream and communication interface. The difference is compensated before the digital data stream is recorded on the streamer. The method in accordance with the present invention comprises detecting program clock references contained in received digital transport stream packets, creating the transport time reference of each transport stream packet based upon the detected program clock references and arrival times of the transport stream packets, and creating transport stream units by adding each of the created transport time reference to the associated transport stream packet.

  • Publication number: 20020119403
Abstract: A photoresist pattern is formed, without being exposed, by using photoresist having a residual layer proportion characteristic by which the photoresist dissolves at a suitable rate in a developing solution. First, a target layer to be patterned and a photoresist layer are sequentially formed on a substrate having a pattern that defines a step on the substrate. Some of the photoresist layer is treated with the developing solution, to thereby form a photoresist pattern whose upper surface is situated beneath the step and hence, exposes part of the target layer. Next, the exposed part of the target layer, and the photoresist pattern are removed. A silicidation process may be carried out thereafter on the area(s) from which the target layer has been removed. The method is relatively simple because it does not involve an exposure process. Furthermore, the method can be used to manufacture devices having very fine linewidths, i.e.

  • Publication number: 20020097981
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of transmitting data stream including multi-path data stream sections to a connected digital television. This data stream transmitting method checks the number of maximum multiple paths of data streams recorded in a recording medium when a reproduction is requested, copies an uni-path stream section read from the recording medium so that the number of total same stream sections is equal to a target number which is determined based on the maximum number, assigns each stream section to a virtual channel to form multi-channel streams, and transmits the multi-channel streams to an outer device through a digital interface. Through this data stream transmitting method, it is possible to transmit an angle- or story-based stream segment a viewer wants to view among multi-path stream so that the stream of the selected angle or story may be presented seamlessly at the borders between neighboring stream sections by very simple algorithm.

  • Publication number: 20020064371
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and apparatus of recording a directly-received digital television broadcast signal. This method demodulates a received high definition digital television broadcast signal, extracts transport stream belonging to a chosen channel among the demodulated data stream, analyzes data of the transport stream, extracts and creates data stream- and/or recording-related information, and writes the data stream- and/or recording-related information and the extracted transport stream to a recording medium in a format suitable to the extracted and created information. According to the present method and apparatus, it is possible to record a high definition digital television broadcast signal without any intermediary set top box to a high-density recording medium in the appropriate recording format as well as to conduct a trick play for recorded television broadcast signal smoothly with such recorded format and the data stream- and/or recording-related information.
