The method includes the following: A forwarding plane network element sends forwarding plane charging statistics to a charging system when the forwarding plane charging statistics meet a preset charging trigger condition, and may further send a charging context identifier to the charging system; the charging system actively sends control plane charging request information to a control plane network element after receiving the forwarding plane charging statistics; the control plane network element sends control plane charging information to the charging system after receiving the request information, and may further send the charging context identifier; and the charging system associates the forwarding plane charging statistics with the control plane charging information based on the charging context identifier, and performs charging processing.

Abstract: A session management method and a session management function network element are provided. The session management method includes: learning, by a session management function SMF network element, of whether a first condition is met, where the first condition includes: a first location of user equipment UE is outside a service area SA of a local area data network LADN; and in response to determining that the first condition is met, stopping, by the SMF network element, data transmission of an LADN packet data unit PDU session of the LADN, and maintaining, by the SMF network element, a resource of the LADN PDU session.

Abstract: An IP address assignment method and an apparatus are provided, to resolve a problem in the prior art that a control plane network element cannot determine, in an IP address assignment process, a terminal device to which IP address information is to be assigned. In the method, after determining an identifier of a terminal device, a core network control plane network element in a mobile communications network assigns IP address information to the terminal device corresponding to the identifier of the terminal device. In this way, after assigning the IP address information, the core network control plane network element can determine a correspondence between the IP address information and the identifier of the terminal device.

A control plane network element establishes, for UE, a first DN connection that uses a first forwarding plane network element as an anchor. The method includes: when the control plane network element receives a handover notification message for the UE and determines that a second forwarding plane network element serves the UE, or when the control plane network element establishes, for the UE, a second DN connection that uses a second forwarding plane network element as an anchor, the control plane network element updates a forwarding path of the first DN connection, so that an updated forwarding path of the first DN connection passes through the second forwarding plane network element, and the second forwarding plane network element performs policy control on a packet on the first DN connection.

The method includes: obtaining attribute information of a service of a terminal; determining, based on the attribute information of the service, a user-plane protocol stack used to transmit the service, and determining a user-plane network element serving the terminal; and sending protocol stack type indication information of the user-plane protocol stack to the user-plane network element and an access-network network element, where the protocol stack type indication information is used to indicate the user-plane protocol stack corresponding to the user-plane network element and the access-network network element.
