  • Patent number: 4640175
Abstract: A support leg for a bass drum is provided. A circular surface is provided on the base member attached to the drum which has a positioning member thereon. A shaft means projects from the center of the circular surface, one end of which is attached to the base member. Inner and outer block members surround the shaft and have mutually facing surfaces for holding the leg member. The inner block has a mating circular surface which slidably mates with the circular surface of the base member and another positioning member which mates with and engages the positioning member. A means, is provided on other end of the shaft, for releasably engaging the outer block and urging the blocks together. A first spring means between the blocks has a spring pressure for urging the blocks apart. A member connects the blocks for setting and holding a predetermined gap between the blocks. • Patent number: 4626125
Abstract: A lock pin assembly for a collar bracket which is capable of engaging and releasing a member to be fixed. The lock pin is generally of cylindrical shape having, at one end, a neck portion of a small diameter, a pair of parallel excisions adjacent to the neck portion, the boundary between the neck portion and the excisions forming a shoulder, and, at the opposite end, a tapered tip. The collar bracket is provided with a pair of outwardly extending flanges, each having a hole for housing a pair of respective lock pins in opposite orientation. The lock pins are freely rotatable in the flange holes and are biased rearward by springs. A plate with a U-shaped cut-out is provided adjacent each flange for engaging the shoulder of each respective lock pin when the lock pin is moved forward against its bias and then rotated. When the lock pin is moved inward and rotated to such position, its tapered tip engages the member to be fixed.

  • Patent number: 4570526
Abstract: A tensioning apparatus for adjusting the tension of the bottom head of a drum, by acting at the top of the drum. A movable element pivots up and down on the body of the drum. A bolt, which engages the bottom drum head tightening hoop of the drum, is threadedly connected to a pin which is anchored at the lower jaw of the movable element. A threaded rod, connected to the upper jaw of the movable element, extends upwardly. The connection to the threaded rod is further from the pivot pin of the movable element than is the connection to the pin for the bolt. An adjustment nut with a threaded bore receives the threaded rod and the nut extends to the top of the drum. A coarse tension adjustment in the bottom drum head is set with the bolt, and a fine adjustment is set by rotating the nut at the top of the drum.

  • Patent number: 4528888
Abstract: The cymbals of a high-hat have a closed state where the cymbals are in contact and an open state where the cymbals are separated. For adjusting the pressure of the cymbals in the closed state, an adjusting nut or bolt on a support body moves the holding rod for the top cymbal to adjust the pressure. In an alternate embodiment, a support to which the holding rod is also secured is movable over large distances to move the cymbals between the open and closed states.

  • Patent number: 4497092
Abstract: The disclosure concerns a device for clamping two axially telescoping rods in a selected telescoped position, wherein the device includes a case supported at the end of the outside one of the two rods and the case encloses an annular bush wrapped around the inside one of the two rods. One side of the bush is open for defining an axial gap. Terminal flanges extend away from the bush at opposite sides of the gap. A shaft extends from the second of the terminal portions, through the first of the terminal portions and then outside the case. A two-position cam is journaled to the shaft and is shaped to engage the exterior of the case. As the cam is moved between its two positions, it selectively draws the terminal portion flanges together or permits them to move apart for selectively clamping or releasing the bush on the rod. A spring normally biases the terminal portion flanges apart.

  • Patent number: 4458574
Abstract: The disclosure concerns a support and stop for the upper cymbal of a high-hat cymbal. The upper cymbal is supported on a longitudinally movable supporting rod. There is a bolt with an upper holding nut threadedly secured above it and a lower holding nut threadedly secured beneath it. The upper and lower holding nuts have respective upper and lower terminal openings passing through them which have internal diameters approximating the diameter of the supporting rod and being smaller than the internal diameter of the bolt. A clamping screw passes through the upper holding nut, pressing the supporting rod against the internal walls of the upper and lower terminal openings, canting the rod in the terminal openings for locking the supporting rod to the support. The cymbal passes through a felt ring which is secured to the exterior of the bolt by the lower holding nut below and by a locking nut above, which locking nut is beneath the upper holding nut.

  • Patent number: 4453446
Abstract: The disclosure concerns a tom-tom holder for supporting a pair of tom-toms on a stand. The holder has two arms which are pivotally attached to each other at an upright support rod. Each arm includes a hinge ball pressing part above and a hinge ball receiving part below, which parts are hinged together to pivot toward and away from each other for clamping a hinge ball between them. The hinge ball has an attached rod for holding a drum. The ball is clamped at a selected orientation through a cam mechanism comprising a rod extending from the ball pressing to the ball receiving element and being attached to the ball receiving element through a nut screwed onto the rod. A cam is attached to the rod at the ball pressing element. The cam is adjustable in its orientation for pressing upon the ball pressing element for drawing the rod and the attached ball receiving element into a hinge ball clamping position with respect to the ball pressing element.

  • Patent number: 4449440
Abstract: A high-hat cymbal stand is disclosed. The upper starting position of the pivotable pedal for operating the cymbals into contact, is adjustable. The tension spring for returning the pedal to its upper position is in a container which is clampable to the stand at selected vertical heights. The pedal is raised until it contacts the bottom of the adjustable spring container, whereby the height of the start position of the pedal is adjustable. Independently, the tension of the spring in the spring container is adjustable. The spring container is located next to and parallel to the rod connecting the movable cymbal to the pedal.

  • Patent number: 4230014
Abstract: A guitar bridge including a main body having adjustable support plates over which the guitar strings pass under tension. The main body of the guitar bridge is secured to an installation block which is, in turn, secured to the body of the guitar. The securement of the main body of the guitar bridge to the installation block is by way of an installation screw which is screwed into the support stand inside the body of the guitar. The upper end of the installation screw is domed and the receiving opening for the installation screw in the main body of the guitar bridge is correspondingly domed. A screw threaded extension up from the domed end of the installation screw is received by a tightening nut near the top of the guitar bridge and tightening of that nut on the extension of the installation screw tightens the installation screw into the domed opening in the guitar bridge main body.
