  • Patent number: 6314062
Abstract: A magnetic head which can apply magnetic fields in opposite directions from each other within a beam spot formed on a magneto-optical disk. This magnetic head includes two cores located in close proximity and two coils. The level of the magneto-optical signal output from the optical head becomes greater as a function of deviation of the center of the magnetic head from the center of the laser beam. Therefore, the magnetic head is moved in the tracking direction or the track direction so that the level of the magneto-optical signal becomes 0.

  • Patent number: 6298026
Abstract: A magneto-optical head includes an optical member, objective lens, SIL and coil. The magneto-optical head converts a laser beam to an evanescent light and directs it to a magneto-optical recording medium. Further, the magneto-optical head applies a magnetic field to the magneto-optical recording medium. When tilt is caused, it decreases the tilt angle. The optical member refracts the laser beam to a prescribed direction to be directed to the objective lens when the laser beam is displaced from a designed optical axis. The objective lens allows the laser beam to be focused onto a point on an end face of the SIL. Further, the SIL emits the evanescent light. The optical member is arranged in contact with the optical member. As a result, a signal can accurately be recorded or reproduced even when tilt is caused to an optical disk while alleviating the problem associated with the tilt.

  • Publication number: 20010015937
Abstract: A magneto-optic recording medium reproduction device includes a multi-clad, step index optical fiber, a semiconductor laser arranged on one end surface side of the optical fiber for providing laser beam to one end surface of the optical fiber, a photodetector arranged on one end surface side of the optical fiber and receiving laser beam from one end surface of the optical fiber, and a magnetic head for applying an alternating field to the magneto-optic recording medium. Since the other end surface of the optical fiber is arranged adjacent to the magneto-optic recording medium, an accurate signal can be reproduced even from an extremely small recorded domain. Furthermore, since an alternating field is applied to the magneto-optic recording medium, a domain transferred from a recording layer of the magneto-optic recording medium to a reproducing layer is expanded and a large reproduced signal can be obtained from the expanded domain.

  • Patent number: 6243326
Abstract: A magneto-optic disk and a recording/reproduction device therefor adopt optical super-resolution to increase recording capacity. More specifically, the magneto-optic disk has an heat emitting layer (6) on a recording layer (4) and still preferably has an intermediate layer (8) between a reproduction layer (3) and the recording layer (4). The recording/reproduction device includes a circuit (33) for pulsing a laser beam to be radiated to the magneto-optic disk and still preferably includes a polarization rotating unit (50) and a polarizing filter (51) for blocking only the center of the laser beam in reproduction. The heat emitting layer (6) diffusing any heat generated by the laser beam, and the discontinuously radiated laser beam allow small recording domain. The laser beam having its center blocked forms smaller main lobe due to diffraction effect.

On the SiN film, a GdFeCo reading layer having the thickness of 800 to 1200 .ANG. with Gd content of 30 to 36 at. % and Co content of 12 to 50 at. % is formed. On the reading layer, a TbFeCo recording layer of which Co content is 10 to 16 at. % is formed. The recording layer is a perpendicular magnetization film, and the reading layer is an in-plane magnetization film. At the time of reading, the reading and recording layers are heated, and the direction of magnetization of the recording layer is transferred to the reading layer only in the prescribed heated area. Information can be read only from the transferred portion, and thus a super resolution effect is obtained. When Kerr rotation angle .theta..sub.

  • Patent number: 5796683
Abstract: An information recording and reproduction apparatus for a magnetically induced superresolution magneto-optical recording medium includes an optical head that emits a laser beam to a signal recording plane of the medium and detecting a laser beam reflected therefrom. The optical head includes a polarization plane rotary unit and a polarizing filter between a light source and an objective lens. The polarization plane rotary unit transmits the laser beam while rotating the direction of polarization of the laser beam. The polarizing filter allows the laser beam to be transmitted at the outer portion independent of the direction of polarization, and allows only the laser beam that is polarized in a particular direction to be transmitted at the inner portion. The polarization plane rotary unit is controlled so as to rotate the direction of polarization of the laser beam in a direction different from the particular direction in reproduction.

  • Patent number: 5469012
Abstract: An electronic elemental A1 has a lead electrode at the edge and a supporting member A2, positioned so that it faces the electronic element across a gap G. The supporting member A2 also has an external connecting terminal A5 at a location opposite the lead electrode A4. A resin layer A3 is positioned between electronic element A1 and supporting member A2, indented by the distance d from the edge of the electronic element A1. The resin layer bonds the electronic element (A1) and supporting member A2. The relationship of the distance d with G should satisfy this expression; d>G. A solder A6 fills the space created by the gap G between the lead electrode A4 and the external connecting terminal A5 over the distance d which is the distance from the edge of the electronic component A1, to the resin layer A3. The solder connects the lead electrode A4 and the external connecting terminal A5.

  • Patent number: 4619109
Abstract: A method of yarn piecing in a fasciated yarn spinning unit is disclosed by which a yarn having a broken end and drawn out from the yarn package is introduced through the false-twisting nozzle by conducting an intermediate portion of the yarn into a slit which is formed on a lateral side of the nozzle and extends to the yarn passage channel in the nozzle. Because the yarn has been previously cut into a predetermined length thereof, the cut end of the yarn is placed in the drafting zone of the drafting mechanism at a position where the cut yarn end overlaps a broken end of the fiber bundle. By restarting the spinning operation, the overlapping ends of the yarn and fiber bundle are drafted properly in the drafting zone and then the fibers in the overlapping ends are intermingled by the false-twisting effect of the rotary stream of jetted air while they are advanced through the false-twisting nozzle.
