  • Patent number: 4513481
Abstract: A bottom tenser utilized for a drafting means of a spinning frame, especially for fasciated yarn spinning, in which a fiber bundle is attenuated at a high speed exceeding 100 m/min. The bottom tenser as well as a bottom roller corresponding to the tenser is provided with a free end through which an apron is easily removable from and mountable on the tenser and the roller. The tenser may be constituted by a body and at least a guide wall movable relative to the body. The guide wall prevents lateral movement of the apron in its operative position and, in turn, is displaced or removed from the body in its non-operative position so as not to obstruct an apron exchanging operation.

  • Patent number: 4510648
Abstract: A novel weighting device for draft rollers, in which a diaphragm is provided, as a pressing unit, above each top side roller. The diaphragms provided on a spinning frame are classified into a plurality of groups corresponding to species of rollers such as front rollers, middle rollers, and back rollers. Each group of diaphragms has common piping having a regulator for air pressure and branched to the diaphragms belonging to the group. One end of the piping is connected to a common high pressure air source, from which air of a uniform pressure controlled by the regulator is supplied to the diaphragms belonging to the group. Since a weighting force onto a top side roller is a function of a air pressure supplied to the diaphragm, it can be changed or diminished at once in a centralized manner by adjusting the regulator. Therefore, troublesome adjustment of individual pressing units is unnecessary.

  • Patent number: 4497089
Abstract: A drafting arrangement including a collector means suitably utilized for fasciated yarn spinning. The collector means in the shape of a hollow shell is disposed between a preceding draft means such as a pair of front rollers and the post draft means such as a pair of a aprons, in such a manner that a front surface of the collector means confronts a rearward surface of the preceding draft means and, on the other hand, a rear surface of the collector means confronts a front surface of the post draft means with a predetermined clearance. By this construction, a concomitant air stream accompanying rotation of the draft means is effectively expelled out of the fiber passage and stable drafting can be accomplished.

  • Patent number: 4489461
Abstract: A novel fiber drafting system is disclosed, according to which fibers of sliver supplied continuously are passed through a first pair of rotatable cooperating rollers while being pressed and compacted into a reduced section by and between a space formed by a groove and a projection formed respectively in and on the circumferential peripheries of the rollers of said first pair. The sliver thus compacted is then transferred to and held by and between a second pair of rollers rotated at a higher peripheral speed than the first pair of rollers, whereby the fibers of sliver are drafted successively between the two pairs of rollers without use of conventional aprons for guiding and supporting the fibers in the drafting zone.

  • Patent number: 4485528
Abstract: A fiber strand delivered to a draft zone between a pair of back rollers and a pair of front rollers is introduced into a passage formed through a fiber strand guide device. On the way of the passage, floating fibers contained in the fiber strand are controlled by means of a fluid stream jetted to a back surface of the fiber strand to press the fiber strand onto an inner wall of the passage as well as forward it towards the front rollers. A pressing plate may be cooperatively utilized with the fluid stream. Accordingly regular drafting is attained.

  • Patent number: 4480435
Abstract: A false-twist nozzle with an improved structure is provided herein. The false-twist nozzle according to the invention comprises a housing having a large-diameter yarn passage portion and an insert member having a small-diameter yarn passage portion and a fluid conduit hole. When the insert member is within the housing, a complete yarn passage hole is formed through the nozzle. Because the insert member is separable from the housing, drilling of the very small diameter fluid conduit hole can be made easily and accurately prior to insertion within the housing. Furthermore, the fluid conduit opening is disposed both annularly and angularly in the downstream direction with respect to the yarn passage hole, thereby increasing the twisting action induced by the flow of jetted fluid while preventing damage to the yarn.

  • Patent number: 4479348
Abstract: A spinning apparatus for a fasciated yarn is provided which comprises a fiber-opening means provided with a combing roller, a fiber-collecting means including an inlet member and a rotor, a twist-imparting means consisting of an air nozzle, and a yarn take-up means. A sliver opened by the combing roller is fed to the interior of the rotor through the inlet member. Since the rotor and the inlet member rotate reversely to each other, the fibers are evenly distributed on an inner surface of the rotor. An intermediate yarn drawn out from the rotor is supplied to the air nozzle under an overfeeding condition, whereby a good fasciating effect is imparted to the resultant yarn by a vortex. Prior to feeding the yarn to the air nozzle, the yarn may be drafted between two pairs of rollers. The apparatus is easy to maintain because a roller drafting means having an apron which rapidly wears due to high-speed processing is not utilized.

  • Patent number: 4455819
Abstract: A method and apparatus for spinning a modified fasciated yarn at a high production rate featuring a combination of open-end spinning and fasciated yarn spinning. A sliver is opened by a combing roller and deposited as a fiber layer on a fiber collecting surface of a drum rotor rotating at a high speed. Thereafter, the fiber layer is drawn off from the fiber collecting surface as a continuous fiber bundle by a central rotor rotating coaxially with the drum rotor at a faster speed. During the drawing-off operation, the fiber bundle is flattened to a ribbon form by making contact to a deflector and is subjected to a vortex within an air twisting nozzle mounted on the central rotor to form a resultant yarn. According to the present invention, high production rate can be obtained because a roller drafting system having aprons can be omitted.

  • Patent number: 4450678
Abstract: An air nozzle, suitable for producing a fasciated yarn, having at least one jet in each of narrow and wide passages along the traveling direction of the fiber bundle. Each jet is directed to generate a vortex whirling reversely from that of the other passage. The twist imparted to the fiber bundle by the vortex generated in the wide passage is restrained by the vortex whirling reversely thereto in the narrow passage. As a result, circumferential fibers of the fiber bundle are less twisted relative to the core portion thereof. During the untwisting operation of the vortex of the wide passage, the circumferential fibers are entangled around the core portion with a twist corresponding to the difference from the core portion, thereby obtaining a well-fasciated yarn.

  • Patent number: 4189115
Abstract: The end of an auto-loading magnetic tape for a computer magnetic tape device is formed in a loop with the magnetized side thereof bent to face outwardly. The length of the bent portion is equivalent to between half and twice the square root value of the product of the radius of a file reel and the spare radial length of the reel radius. The loop is so constructed that the extreme end of the magnetic tape is bonded to the base side of the magnetic tape. The end of the magnetic tape thus offers higher air resistance than the other parts of the tape to the air flow in the cartridge containing the magnetic tape, thereby enhancing the chance of success in a tape auto-loading operation.
