    Abstract: Field effect diode structures utilize a junction structure that has an L-shape in cross-section (a fin extending from a planar portion). An anode is positioned at the top surface of the fin, and a cathode is positioned at the end surface of the planar portion. The perpendicularity of the fin and the planar portion cause the anode and cathode to be perpendicular to one another. A first gate insulator contacts the fin between the top surface and the planar portion. A first gate conductor contacts the first gate insulator, and the first gate insulator is between the first gate conductor and the surface of the fin. Additionally, a second gate insulator contacts the planar portion between the end surface and the fin. A second gate conductor contacts the second gate insulator, and the second gate insulator is between the second gate conductor and the surface of the planar portion.

    Abstract: The navigation solution of a device may be enhanced by perforating multiple pass smoothing. Forward and backward processing of the input data may be performed to derive interim navigation solutions. One or more quantities of the interim navigation solutions may be combined to smooth the quantities. At least one additional pass of forward and backward processing may then be performed using quantities of the navigation solution that were combined to enhance the interim navigation solutions. Next, at least one uncombined quantity of the navigation solution from the enhanced interim navigation solution is combined to provide an enhanced smoothed navigation solution. Additional passes may be performed to combine other quantities of the navigation solution as desired.

The signals are transmitted and/or received in the form of a beam having an axis in a target direction. To enhance the directionality of the beam: the array of spaced cooling elements in the heat sink is arranged to form an electromagnetic band gap (EBG) structure tuned to the carrier frequency used by the antenna; and the antenna is placed relative to the array of cooling elements such that the EBG structure suppresses the propagation of electromagnetic energy in the signals at the carrier frequency in one or more directions other than the target direction.

Compared with the prior art which only aims at a particular service and handover can only be performed in particular RAT networks, the present solution does not has particular limitation on a service, and moreover, a proper RAT network may be selected from multiple RAT networks more flexibly for each service without increasing power consumption of the user equipment.
