  • Patent number: 7831826
Abstract: A method and system for distributing and enforcing security policies is provided. A firewall agent executing at a host computer system that is to be protected receives security policies for the enforcement engines responsible for enforcing the security policies on the host computer system. A security policy has rules that each provide a condition and action to be performed when the condition is satisfied. A rule also has a rule type that is used by the distribution system to identify the security components that are responsible for enforcing the rules. To distribute the security policies that have been received at a host computer system, the firewall agent identifies to which enforcement engine a rule applies based in part on rule type. The firewall agent then distributes the rule to the identified enforcement engine, which then enforces the rule.

  • Publication number: 20100230722
Abstract: A High Electron Mobility Transistor (HEMT) device, which is formed by connecting a plurality of low power flip-chip type High Electron Mobility Transistor (HEMT) elements in parallel, or connected them in parallel and in series in combination into a tree-shaped structure, and then connecting said structure to an input terminal and an output terminal. Distances between each of the flip-chip type HEMT elements, from each element to said input terminal, and from each element to said output terminal are designed to be equal, such that powers consumed by each of the flip-chip type HEMT elements are equal, currents flowing through are evenly distributed, and heat generated is liable to be dissipated. A spike leakage protection layer, such as zinc-oxide (ZnO) amorphous layer or poly-crystal layer, is further included, hereby further enhancing the efficiency of said flip-chip type HEMT element and prolonging its service life.

  • Publication number: 20100233940
Abstract: A polishing system and associated methods are described for polishing a magnetic disk used in a disk drive system. The polishing system includes a polishing film that is used to polish the magnetic disk. The polishing system also includes an actuator operable to move the polishing film across a surface of the magnetic disk to polish the magnetic disk. The polishing system also includes a pad having at least one protrusion extending from a surface of the pad. The protrusion is configured to contact the polishing film and press the polishing film against the magnetic disk. The protrusion is operable to compress to about the surface of the pad when in contact with the polishing film. Once polishing is complete, the pad retracts from the polishing film and the protrusion extends from the pad, reducing the adhesion force between the pad and the polishing film.

  • Patent number: 7757290
Abstract: A method, apparatus, and computer readable medium are provided by aspects of the present invention to determine whether a malware is resident on a host computer. In one embodiment, a method determines whether data that is characteristic of malware is loaded in the system memory of a host computer. More specifically, the method includes causing a device communicatively connected to a host computer to issue a request to obtain data loaded in the system memory. Then, when the requested data is received, a determination is made regarding whether the data is characteristic of malware. Since, the method causes data to be obtained directly from system memory without relying on software services on the host computer, malware that employs certain stealth techniques will be identified.

  • Patent number: 7725337
Abstract: A method, system and computer program product for efficiently quantifying the economic impact of retiming flights without the necessity of implementing the traditional airline forecasting system from scratch. A forecast module computes the difference in impact prior to and after the retiming of a flight. A flight grouping module, using the computed difference in impact, generates a new schedule, which is used by the forecast module to generate new changes in impact, until the schedule converges. A flyable module generates a list of retimed flights based on the converged schedule for resolving operational infeasibilities of the latter. The forecast module generates a profit for each of the retimed flights, which is used by a scheduling module to improve the schedule, which is used by the forecast module to revise the economic impacts for the list of all retimed flights. This process continues until no further economic improvement can be made.

  • Publication number: 20100100652
Abstract: A keyboard, video, mouse (KVM) switch implements a picture-in-picture (PIP) function to allow desktop images from multiple computers to be displayed on the user console monitor. The KVM switch switches a first one of the multiple computers to the user console in a manner. The KVM switch further establishes a desktop sharing and remote control relationship between the first computer and each of the other computers, so that the first computer acts as a client which can see the desktop of the other computers (servers) and control them. The desktop images of the other computers are displayed on the console monitor as windows, which can be moved and re-sized. Audio data from the other computer are also transmitted to the user console. The PIP function is primarily implemented in software and no special video processing hardware is required in the KVM switch.

  • Patent number: 7702745
Abstract: The present invention provides a novel client side caching (CSC) infrastructure that supports transition states at the directory level to facilitate a seamless operation across connectivity states between client and remote server. More specifically, persistent caching is performed to safeguard the user (e.g., client) and/or the client applications across connectivity interruptions and/or bandwidth changes. This is accomplished in part by caching to a client data store the desirable file(s) together with the appropriate file access parameters. Moreover, the client maintains access to cached files during periods of disconnect. Furthermore, portions of a path can be offline while other portions upstream can remain online. CSC operates on the logical path which cooperates with DFS which operates on the physical path to keep track of files cached, accessed and changes in the directories. In addition, truth on the client is facilitated whether or not a conflict of file copies exists.

  • Patent number: 7677138
Abstract: A ratchet screwdriver includes a handle, a ratchet, a shaft, a finger ring and a tool. The handle has a body having a receiving chamber and a front through hole. The receiving chamber is formed in the body and communicates with the front through hole. The ratchet is mounted securely in the receiving chamber and has a driving protrusion and a drive selector. The shaft is mounted rotatably in the body and has a proximal end mounted securely on the keyed driving protrusion. The finger ring is mounted securely around the shaft outside the body and is smaller than the handle to allow quick and easy rotation of the shaft. The tool is selectively mounted securely in the shaft.

  • Patent number: 7660829
Abstract: The invention provides a distributed file system configured to delegate file system operations to clients. The client obtains a delegation associated with an object managed by the server. The delegation enables the client to perform a file system operation on behalf of the server. The client caches the object and enables users associated with the client to access the object in accordance with the delegation.

  • Publication number: 20100027503
Abstract: Techniques for buffering and resending data in order to reduce data loss during handover are described. A network controller may determine whether or not to buffer data for a user equipment (UE). The network controller may continuously buffer a predetermined amount of latest data sent to a serving Node B if a decision is made to buffer the data for the UE. In one design, the network controller may send data for the UE to a source Node B, perform handover of the UE from the source Node B to a target Node B, resend to the target Node B a portion of the data sent previously to the source Node B, and send new data for the UE to the target Node B. e.g., after the resent data. The buffer and resend feature may be selectively enabled or disabled for each data flow for the UE.

  • Publication number: 20090325241
Abstract: Disclosed are nucleic acid constructs comprising coding sequences operably linked to a promoter not natively associated with the coding sequence. The coding sequences encode Pichia stipitis proteins that allow recombinant strains of Saccharomyces cerevisiae expressing the protein to grow on xylose, and allow or increase uptake of xylose by Pichia stipitis or Saccharomyces cerevisiae expressing the coding sequences. Expression of the coding sequences enhances uptake of xylose and/or glucose, allowing increased ethanol or xylitol production.
