  • Publication number: 20050136711
Abstract: An electrical connector assembly (1) includes an LGA connector (2) and a pick up cap (3) mounted onto the connector. The connector defines a number of cells (26) for receiving a corresponding number of contacts (20). The pick up cap mounted onto the connector has a first surface (36) engagable with a vacuum suction device and a second surface (38) having at least one protrusion (40, 42) extending downwardly therefrom, said at least one protrusion spaces the second surface of the pick up cap from a top surface (245) of the connector to form a gap (35) therebetween, thereby permitting heated air to flow therethrough during mounting the connector assembly onto the circuit substrate by SMT.

  • Patent number: 6908316
Abstract: An electrical connector includes a base (2?), a metal clip (3) pivotably engaged on the base, and a lever (4) for fastening the clip onto the base. A floor (232?) is defined in a middle of the base. A rectangular raised support area (23?) is provided around a periphery of the floor. The support area defines four inner side walls (231?). The side walls and the floor cooperatively define a substantially rectangular cavity (230?) therebetween. One of the side walls defines a pair of protrusions (2310?) protruding towards the cavity, wherein the two protrusions are coplanar with each other. The other side walls define a protrusion thereof respectively. Therefore, a first benchmark is obtained by a line joining the pair of protrusions on the side wall, and a second benchmark is determined by a line passing the protrusion on the adjacent and perpendicular side wall, perpendicular to the first benchmark.

  • Patent number: 6908327
Abstract: An LGA connector (1) includes a connector body (2) fixed on a PCB (6), a clip (3), and a load lever (4). The connector body defines a plurality of passageways (230) receiving terminals therein. The load lever includes an operational arm (43), a pair of pivot axles (41) having an offset pressing portion (42) therebetween and extending from one end of the operational arm, and an operational portion (44). The operational portion includes a bending portion (441) bending from an opposite end of the operational arm, and a handle (442) extending from a distal end of the bending portion and being parallel to the operational arm. When the connector is in a closed state, a distant between the handle and the PCB is greater than a distant between the operational arm and the PCB. This configuration prevents an operator's hand from being abraded or hurt.

  • Publication number: 20050130479
Abstract: A land grid array connector for electrically connecting a CPU package (60) to a printed circuit board includes a housing (10) received a number of contacts (12) therein, a stiffener (20) enclosingly attached to the housing, a load plate (40) and a lever (30) pivotally mounted to opposite sides of the housing respectively. The housing has a number of sidewalls. Two wings (45) extend downwardly from opposite side edges of the load plate and toward the housing. A stopping member is formed on the wings of the load plate and two opposite sidewalls of the housing corresponding the wings, for resisting horizontal moving of the load plate and the CPU chip. The stopping member comprises a plurality of protrusions and holding sections engaging the protrusions. The protrusions each engagingly retained in a corresponding holding section during the connector being in closed position. This can resist horizontal moving of the load plate and the CPU chip.

  • Publication number: 20050124198
Abstract: A socket connector (1) includes an insulative housing (2) and a plurality of terminals (7) received in the housing. The housing defines a plurality of passageways (24) for accommodating the corresponding terminals. Each passageway forms a step (248) therein for dividing the passageway into a receiving channel (246) and an interfering channel (242). Each terminal defines a fastening portion (70) for securing the terminal in the passageway and the fastening portion forms a pair of straight interfering sides (710). The distance from one of two straight interfering sides to the other is greater than the width of the interfering channel. When the terminal is installed into the housing, the terminal is firmly positioned in corresponding passageway by virtue of the interfering force between the two straight interfering sides and the interfering channel.

  • Publication number: 20050124188
Abstract: An LGA connector (1) includes an insulative housing (2), a stiffener (3) defined around the housing, a clip (4) pivotably engaged on one end of the stiffener, and a lever (5) engaged on an opposite end of the stiffener for fastening the clip onto the housing. The stiffener includes a bottom plate (31) and a plurality of side walls (32) extending from the bottom plate, and the housing defines two raised lower surfaces (210) in two opposite ends thereof. Said ends is corresponding to the ends of the stiffener that engages lever and clip respectively, and each lower surface and the bottom plate defining a gap therebetween. Thus, even if two ends of the stiffener bend, the gaps will avoid the housing from distorting alone with the stiffener.
