  • Patent number: 6875022
Abstract: An electrical connector assembly includes an electrical connector (2) and a pick up cap (1) rotatably attached onto the connector to provide a flat top surface. The connector defines two spaced chambers (2200) in a middle portion of an end thereof, and forms an engaging wall (211) in a middle of an opposite end thereof. The pick up cap includes a smooth top surface (111), two spaced mounting portions (1111) at an end thereof, and two spaced latch arms (1102) at an opposite end thereof. In assembly, the mounting portions of the pick up cap are firstly insert into the corresponding chambers of the housing. The pick up cap is then rotated downwardly about an axis defined above the chambers. The latch arms deflect outwardly and finally resiliently abut against the engaging wall of the housing. Thus, the pick up cap is securely fastened on the connector.

  • Publication number: 20050064742
Abstract: The electrical connector (1) includes a base having a number of terminals (12) thereon and a load plate (40) pivotally attached to a side of the base and locked in an opposite side of the base. The load plate (40) is stamped from a sheet of metal to form at least one pressing protrusion (43) to engagingly press an IC (60) in order to hold the IC (60) on the base. At least one pressing protrusion (43) has an outer edge (431) adjacent the IC (60) when the IC (60) is held on the base. The outer edge (431) is coined, thereby weeding out burrs formed on said outer edge (431) after the load plate (40) is stamped. As a result, the shape of the coined outer edge (431) of the pressing protrusion (43) can avoid scraping an IHS conglutinated on the IC (60) when the load plate (40) presses the IC (60), thereby to safely interconnect the IC (60) with the PCB.

  • Publication number: 20040253847
Abstract: A socket connector contact (10) comprises a resilient portion (16) having a helical body (16a) with an axis. A mating portion (16b) extends upwardly from the body, for electrically engaging a mating conductive member (32). When the contact engages the conductive member, the mating portion elastically deflects downwardly at an angle relative to the axis of the body so as to wipe oxidization films that have grown on the mating portion and the conductive member. Furthermore, the body doest not deflect relative to the axis thereof. Rather, the body is compressed along the axis thereof to supply sufficient normal contact force, thereby assuring engagement between the mating portion and the conductive member. Thus, the mating portion and the resilient portion of the contact are used to optimize wiping characteristics and contact force of the contact, respectively.

  • Patent number: 6827587
Abstract: An electrical connector assembly (1) includes a base (10), a frame (13) assembled on the base, and a fixing member (11) engaged with the base. The base defines first and second installation portions (12, 15) having first and second pivot holes (120, 121) therein. An orientation portion (1210) is formed adjacent the second installation portion, thereby defining a fastening slot (1212) therebetween. The fixing member includes an actuator lever (14) and a fastening ring (114) having an opening. The actuator lever includes an actuator (110) and an operation handle (113). When the fixing member and the base are assembled together, the actuator is installed into the base via the pivot holes, the fastening ring clasps the actuator, and the fastening ring is positioned in the fastening slot. Thus, during rotation of the actuator lever, the fastening ring enables reliable positioning of the actuator lever relative to the frame.

  • Publication number: 20040242058
Abstract: An electrical connector includes a base (2′), a metal clip (3) pivotably engaged on the base, and a lever (4) for fastening the clip onto the base. A floor (232′) is defined in a middle of the base. A rectangular raised support area (23′) is provided around a periphery of the floor. The support area defines four inner side walls (231′). The side walls and the floor cooperatively define a substantially rectangular cavity (230′) therebetween. One of the side walls defines a pair of protrusions (2310′) protruding towards the cavity, wherein the two protrusions are coplanar with each other. The other side walls define a protrusion thereof respectively. Therefore, a first benchmark is obtained by a line joining the pair of protrusions on the side wall, and a second benchmark is determined by a line passing the protrusion on the adjacent and perpendicular side wall, perpendicular to the first benchmark.

  • Patent number: 6826052
Abstract: A heat sink retaining assembly includes a retaining module (1) and a pair of clips (3). Two retaining portions (12) are respectively formed on each of two opposite sidewalls (17′) of the retaining module. Bifurcated block portions (13) are integrally formed on interior faces of each of four sidewalls (17, 17′) of the retaining module. A gap (15) is defined between each block portion and its corresponding sidewall, and each gap receives a resilient member (14). Each resilient member includes a guide portion (19) and a pressing portion (18). A heat sink (2) is received in the retaining module via the guide portions. The heat sink is restricted by the pressing portions from sliding in lateral directions relative to the retaining module. The clips are engaged with the retaining portions.
