    Abstract: A modeling method for screening surgical patients, used in analysis modeling for heart rate variability (HRV). Low-cost, portable and wearable signal acquisition equipment is utilized to acquire an electrocardiography (ECG) signal of an epileptic 24 hours before surgery; a multiscale entropy (MSE) of the ECG is calculated by means of a programmed HRV analysis method, wherein characteristic parameters representing heart rate complexity are extracted on the basis of an MSE curve, and a medical refractory epileptic suitable for vagus nerve stimulation (VNS) surgery is accurately and efficiently screened, thus avoiding unnecessary expenditures and avoiding delaying an optimal opportunity for treatment. Meanwhile, the curative effects of the VNS treatment may be wholly improved by means of clearly selecting VNS surgical indication patients according to the characteristic parameters of the MSE complexity of the ECG.

The invention also provides a process for preparing the alginate oligosaccharide and its derivatives, which includes the procedure that an alginate solution is reacted for 2 to 6 h in an autoclave at pH 2˜6 and the temperature of 100˜120° C., and adjusted pH to 7 after the reaction is stopped, after which the resultant oligosaccharide is oxidized in the presence of an oxidant to obtain an oxidative product. The alginate oligosaccharide and its derivatives of the invention can be used in the manufacture of a medicament for the prophylaxis and treatment of AD and diabetes.

The computer determines which participant is speaking based on comparing images of the participants with template images of speaking and non-speaking faces. The computer determines the voiceprint of the speaking participant by applying a Hidden Markov Model to a brief recording of the voice waveform of the participant and associates the determined voiceprint with the face of the speaking participant.     Abstract: A carbon-separated ultrafine nano WC material and a method of preparing the same as well as a use thereof, wherein the carbon-separated ultrafine nano WC material is prepared by a method comprising the following steps: (1) a solution of a tungsten source in deionized water is added into a solution prepared from ethanol, concentrated ammonia and a surfactant, wherein the tungsten source is ammonium metatungstate, sodium tungstate or tungsten chloride, and the surfactant is sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate, ammonium hexadecyl trimethyl bromide or P123; resorcinol is added after intimate agitation; formaldehyde is then added after intimate agitation; and then agitation at room temperature is continued for 8-28 h to produce a mixed solution; (2) the mixed solution is subjected to hydrothermal reaction, and a mixed polymer is obtained after drying; and (3) the mixed polymer is carburized at a high temperature in CO atmosphere to produce the carbon-separated ultrafine nano WC material.
