DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

[0035] Turning now descriptively to the drawings, in which similar reference characters denote similar elements throughout the several views, FIGS. 1 through 9 illustrate a disposable toothbrush system 10, which comprises a handle member 20 having a detent member 22, a head member 30 having a bore 32 for removably receiving the handle member 20, an aperture 34 within the head member 30 for receiving the detent member 22, and a plurality of bristles 36 extending from the head member 30. In an alternative embodiment, a pair of claws extending from the handle member 20 catchably engage a pair of catch slots within the head member 30.

[0036] As shown in FIG. 1 of the drawings, the handle member 20 has an elongate structure. The handle member 20 is preferably comprised of a straight structure, however various shapes and structures may be utilized to construct the handle member 20 similar to the shapes found in conventional toothbrushes. The handle member 20 may have various cross sectional shapes such as but not limited to circular, oblong, square, rectangular and the like.

[0037] As further shown in FIG. 1 of the drawings, a detent member 22 is positioned within the handle member 20 for selectively engaging the aperture 34 within the head member 30. The detent member 22 may be non-movably attached to the handle member 20. However, the detent member 22 is preferably movably and springably attached to the handle member 20 by a first spring 24 as illustrated in FIGS. 3 through 5 of the drawings. The first spring 24 may be comprised of various spring structures such as but not limited to a leaf spring or compression spring. In the movable embodiment of the detent member 22, the detent member 22 movably extends through an opening within the handle member 20. As best illustrated in FIGS. 1 and 3 of the drawings, the detent member 22 is located past the center point of the handle member 20 towards the end of the handle member 20 received by the head member 30.

[0038] As shown in FIG. 1 of the drawings, the head member 30 includes a bore 32, an aperture 34 and a plurality of bristles 36. The head member 30 may also have various shapes and structures as desired in order to form a toothbrush structure. The aperture 34 is positioned to receive the detent when a significant portion of the handle member 20 is positioned within the bore 32 of the head member 30.

[0039] As shown in FIG. 5 of the drawings, when the handle member 20 is fully inserted into the bore 32 of the head member 30, the distal end of the handle member 20 is preferably adjacent the inner end of the bore 32. As shown in FIG. 1 of the drawings, the bore 32 is formed for snugly receiving the handle member 20 with limited movement of the handle member 20 within the head member 30. It can be appreciated that the bore 32 may be positioned within the handle member 20 for receiving the head member 30.

[0040] FIGS. 6 through 9 illustrate an alternative embodiment of the present invention. As shown in FIGS. 6 through 9, a first claw 50 and a second claw 52 are pivotally attached within the handle member 20. A second spring 58 is positioned between the inner ends of the claws 50, 52 thereby forcing the claws 50, 52 into a closed position. A button member 54 having a lower tapered portion 56 is movably positioned within the handle member 20 between the claws 50, 52 thereby allowing selective separation of the claws 50, 52. As shown in FIG. 6 of the drawings, a first catch slot 40 and a second catch slot 42 are positioned within the head member 30 for catchably receiving the claws 50, 52 respectively. An extended portion 38 preferably extends from the head member 30 for being slidably received within an end opening (not shown) within the handle member 20.

[0041] As to a further discussion of the manner of usage and operation of the present invention, the same should be apparent from the above description. Accordingly, no further discussion relating to the manner of usage and operation will be provided.
