ENCLOSURE WITH PROTECTIVE SUPPORT

An enclosure includes an enclosure body and a support. The enclosure includes a bottom wall. A receiving recess is formed in the bottom wall. The support defines a contacting surface substantially parallel to the bottom wall and an attachment surface. The support includes a securing portion extending from the attachment surface. A distance between the supporting surface and the attachment surface is greater than the depth of the receiving recess. The supporting surface is configured to contact a supporting surface to maintain a space between the bottom wall and the supporting surface.

BACKGROUND

1. Technical Field

The present disclosure relates to enclosures having protective supports.

2. Description of Related Art

When someone sets their electronic device down, the surface of the device may be scratched and worn from contact with the supporting surface, or cause damage to the supporting surface.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

The disclosure is illustrated by way of example and not by way of limitation in the figures of the accompanying drawings in which like references indicate similar elements. It should be noted that references to “an” or “one” embodiment in this disclosure are not necessarily to the same embodiment, and such references mean at least one.

Referring to FIGS. 1 and 2, an enclosure of one embodiment includes an enclosure body 10 and four supports 20. The enclosure body 10 is made of metal.

The enclosure body 10 includes a bottom wall 11, a front wall 12, a rear wall 13, and a side wall 14. The front wall 12 and the rear wall 13 extend perpendicularly from opposite sides of the bottom wall 11. The front wall 12 is parallel to the rear wall 13. The side wall 14 is perpendicular to the front wall 12. The bottom wall 11 includes a bottom wall body 111 and four columnar mounting portions 112 protruding from the bottom wall body 111. A receiving recess 113 is defined in each mounting portion 112. A circular securing hole 114 is defined in the center of the receiving recess 113.

Referring to FIGS. 1-3, each support 20 is columnar and may be made of a soft material. In one embodiment, the soft material is soft wood. Each support 20 defines a contacting surface 21 substantially parallel to the bottom wall 11 and an attachment surface 22 substantially parallel to the contacting surface 21. Each supporting 20 includes a securing portion 23 extending from the attachment surface 22. The securing portion 23 includes a small portion 231 extending from the attachment surface 22 and a great portion 232 extending from the small portion 231. A gap is defined in the securing portion 23 and extends through the great portion 232. The great portion 232 is capable of moving close to the center of the great portion 232 so as to extend through and engage the securing hole 114 of the bottom wall 11. A distance between the contacting surface 21 and the attachment surface 22 is greater than the depth of the receiving recess 113. The contacting surface 21 is exposed out from the mounting portion 112.

The four mounting portions 112 are arrayed in a rectangle shape. Wherein two mounting portions are adjacent to the front wall 12 of the enclosure body 10, and the other two mounting portions are adjacent to the rear wall 13 of the enclosure body 10.

Referring to FIGS. 1-4, in assembly, the supports 20 are aligned with receiving recesses 113 of the bottom wall 11. The great portions 232 of the securing portion 23 of the supports 20 extend through and engage the securing holes 114 of the receiving recesses 113. thereby assembling the enclosure body 10 and the supports 20 together. At this time, the bottom wall 11 is sandwiched between the attachment surface 22 and the corresponding great portion 232. In one embodiment, a bonding agent, such as glue, is applied to the attachment surface 22 of each support 20.

The supports 20 maintain a gap between the bottom wall 11 of the enclosure body 10 and a supporting surface, thus protecting the surface of the enclosure body 10 from scratches and other damage while also protecting the supporting surface from the metal of the enclosure.. The supports 20 being made of soft wood or similar material ensure they can absorb vibrations as further protection for the device of the enclosure.

In one embodiment, each support 20 includes a double sided sticky tape attached to the attachment surface 22. The double sided sticky tape includes a protecting layer. The protecting layer is peeled from the support 20 before the support 20 is mounted to the enclosure body 10.

In one embodiment, each support 20 is truncated cone-shaped, thus, the attachment surface 22 has relatively greater contact surface area for better adherence to the enclosure if needed.

It is to be understood, however, that even though numerous characteristics and advantages of the present disclosure have been set forth in the foregoing description, together with details of the structure and function of the disclosure, the disclosure is illustrative only, and changes may be made in detail, especially in matters of shape, size, and arrangement of parts within the principles of the disclosure to the full extent indicated by the broad general meaning of the terms in which the appended claims are expressed.

Claims

1. An enclosure, comprising:

an enclosure body, the enclosure comprising a bottom wall, a receiving recess defined in the bottom wall, a securing hole defined in the receiving recess; and
a support, the support defining a contacting surface substantially parallel to the bottom wall and an attachment surface, the support comprising a securing portion extending from the attachment surface, the securing portion engaging the securing hole, a distance between the contacting surface and the attachment surface greater than the depth of the receiving recess, the contacting surface configured to contact a supporting surface to maintain a space between the bottom wall and the supporting surface.

2. The enclosure of claim 1, wherein the securing portion comprises a small portion extending from the attachment surface and a great portion extending from the small portion; a gap is defined in the securing portion and extends through the great portion;

and the great portion is capable of moving toward the gap.

3. The enclosure of claim 1, wherein the bottom wall comprises a bottom wall body and a mounting portion protruding from the bottom wall, the receiving recess formed in the mounting portion.

4. The enclosure of claim 1, wherein the support is columnar

5. The enclosure of claim 1, wherein the support is truncated cone-shaped.

6. The enclosure of claim 5, wherein the attachment surface is substantially parallel to the contacting surface, and the attachment surface is greater than the contacting surface.

7. The enclosure of claim 1, wherein the bottom wall is made of metal, and the support is made of softwood.

8. An enclosure, comprising:

an enclosure body, the enclosure comprising a bottom wall, a receiving recess defined in the bottom wall; and
a support, the support defining a contacting surface and an attachment surface that is substantially parallel to the contacting surface, wherein, the support is secured in the receiving recess with the attachment surface received in the receiving recess, the contacting surface configured to expose out of the bottom wall to uphold the enclosure body on a supporting surface.

9. The enclosure of claim 8, wherein a securing hole is defined in the receiving recess, and the support comprises a securing portion engaging the securing hole.

10. The enclosure of claim 9, wherein the securing portion comprises a small portion extending from the attachment surface and a great portion extending from the small portion; a gap is defined in the securing portion and extends through the great portion; and the great portion is capable of moving toward the gap.

11. The enclosure of claim 8, wherein the bottom wall comprises a bottom wall body and a mounting portion protruding from the bottom wall, the receiving recess formed in the mounting portion.

12. The enclosure of claim 8, wherein the contacting surface is substantially parallel to the attachment surface.

13. The enclosure of claim 8, wherein the support is columnar.

14. The enclosure of claim 8, wherein the support is truncated cone-shaped.

15. The enclosure of claim 14, wherein the attachment surface is greater than the contacting surface.

16. The enclosure of claim 8, wherein the bottom wall is made of metal, and the support is made of soft wood.
