  • Patent number: RE30996
Abstract: A tension sensing and cut off control mechanism which operates independently of the mechanism for drawing tight a closed loop bundling strap placed about objects to be bundled. Within a stationary block, affixed to one end of a tool housing, is placed a movable block held stationary by a displaceable pin. Adjustable loading means engage said pin to control its movement based on the tension to be applied to the strap. Below the established load a separate pawl mechanism draws the strap up about the bundle. When the load on the pin is exceeded, the movable block is moved by the strap head causing a blade means to sever the strap adjacent the head and all parts return to their original positions.

  • Patent number: RE30998
Abstract: An apparatus for detecting the presence of a gob of molten glass as it enters a cavity in the mold of an automatic glassware forming machine. The detector includes a phototransistor sensor and circuitry for generating a gob detection signal. Two or more detectors can be combined to generate a signal indicating that the last gob has entered a multi-cavity mold so that the forming process can begin. The gob detection signal can also be utilized to adjust the timing of the glassware forming process for differences in the travel time between the gob forming apparatus and the mold.

  • Patent number: 4339831
Abstract: A synthetic leaflet aortic and mitral heart valve for use in replacement of diseased natural heart valves having a flexible, curved framework, a flexible membrane attached to the framework and fixation means for attaching the valve to the tissue annulus. The framework consists of at least three curved flexible valve struts, each joined together at one end to a common central point of the valve and extending in the same direction radially at equal angles so that the free ends are unattached and at a distance from one another. The free ends are provided with sewing pads for artificial attachment of each free end separately to the natural tissue annulus or to an artificial annulus reconstruction ring which itself is sutured to the tissue annulus to restore its symmetry.

  • Patent number: 4339832
Abstract: A flush mounted, pop-up drain fitting includes a shallow, hollow cylindrical drain body having a flange extending radially outwardly from the upper end thereof and adapted for flush mounting with a tub or basin surface. A plurality of arms extend downwardly from the lower end of the drain body, the arms extending obliquely inwardly toward the axis of the drain body. The lower, distal ends of the arms are joined to a lower cylindrical member which is provided with an axially disposed threaded hole. A pop-up drain mechanism is secured in the threaded hole, and is positioned to form a seal with an annular lip in the lower end of the drain body. In the sealed or closed position, the pop-up drain fitting is substantially flush with the upper surface of the flange.

  • Patent number: 4339834
Abstract: A box spring assembly which includes a generally rectangular frame, a plurality of upwardly extending wire springs mounted on the frame, and a wire grid supported on the upper ends of the springs so that the grid and springs cooperate to yieldably resist downwardly directed bedding loads. Each of the springs is formed at its upper end with an attaching portion that is structured so that it can be connected to the grid merely by moving it from an initial position to an interlocked position. This structure enables assembly of the grid and the springs without the requirement for the usual attaching clips.

  • Patent number: 4339836
Abstract: The present invention relates to a lead screw threading tool utilized to form external threads on the upper end of a cylindrical shroud of a shock absorber assembly of a vehicular suspension system. The tool includes an expandable collet which is inserted into one end of the shroud for maintaining a lead screw arbor in axial alignment with the interior opening of the shroud. The lead screw arbor is utilized for mounting a driver unit for longitudinal movement along the axis of the arbor. A thread forming die is fastened to the driver unit in such a manner so as to permit limited radial movement of the forming die relative to the axis of the arbor. The limited radial movement of the threading die permits the die to properly seat on the outer wall of the shroud in the event there is a variation in concentricity between the inner and outer walls of the cylindrical shroud.
