  • Patent number: 4339842
Abstract: A combination caster and fixed support that supports an article either for rolling motion on a dual wheel assembly or alternatively supports the article on a floor engaging foot that raises the caster wheels from the floor. A central horn, having a vertical swivelling pintle, carries wheels on the opposite sides thereof supported on a common axle that permits the wheels to go up and down a limited distance relative to the horn to compensate for uneven floors. A threaded pad vertical support rod is received centrally in the horn between the wheels and carries a universally mounted channel-shaped pad at its lower end that selectively engages the floor as the threaded rod is lowered to raise the caster wheels off the floor. In the raised position of the foot the pad is locked in a tilted position between abutments on the lower end of the support rod and a lower surface on the horn so that the pad may easily pass over inclined floor surfaces.

  • Patent number: 4339846
Abstract: A motor driven machine for compactly coiling a chain of sausages prior to delivering the sausages to a smoking room. The machine comprises an arcuate first arm and a second, channel-like arcuate arm; an elongated drive shaft is disposed within the second arm. A pneumatic piston joins the arms together, and conduits deliver pneumatic pressure to the piston from the bore of the drive shaft. One end of a rope of sausages is clamped to one arm, and a smoke stick is temporarily retained in the other arm. The piston is then pressurized to force the arms apart, and the drive shaft and the arms are rotated rapidly, as a unit, to form a coil of sausage about the expanded arms. When the coil reaches the desired length, the piston is then retracted so that the arms are drawn toward each other, and the smoke stick is removed with the sausages depending therefrom for processing.

  • Patent number: 4339877
Abstract: A cutter employing flat replaceable blades and providing a handle and support member that is shaped as an annular segment cut off by a planar surface. The blade is held by a shaft which is preferably encircled by a sleeve and locked to it against rotation. The shaft alone or both the shaft and sleeve extend through a horizontal opening parallel to the planar surface and are locked in place at any desired rotational position. The shaft provides a blade-holding channel enabling ready adjustment of the cutting depth of the blade. In addition to straight cuts and freehand cuts, the latter may be used for circular cuts by attaching a radius rod to it. Cuts of limited length can be simplified by use of another attachment. A further attachment is used to make cuts parallel to the edge of the mounting board.

  • Patent number: 4339885
Abstract: A generally tubular-shaped article which is adapted to be placed around the end of a rolled-up article, such as rolled-up drawings and the like, for identification purposes. The tubular-shaped article has a cylindrical tube having at one end and attached thereto another cylindrically-shaped object of a rubber-like composition. The rubber-like cylindrically-shaped object is adhered to the outer periphery of the one end of the cylindrical tube. A cap is placed around the outer periphery of the opposite end of the cylindrical object. The cap has a label attached for identifying the rolled-up article, such as the rolled-up drawings placed therein. The cylindrical object is flexible, thereby permitting the user to grip the drawings using the rubber-like cylindrical object. Other embodiments include a concave-shaped cylindrical object for gripping the drawing when placed therein.
