  • Patent number: PP6326
Abstract: A new variety of hybrid lily plant bearing large clusters of flowers of excellent form and long persistence both on the plant and as cut flowers, the flowers being particularly distinguished by their light cream to white coloring and an unusual spotting pattern characterized by a small ring of tiny magenta spots; this combination being completely new in the upright Asiatic division of lilies suited to forcing and to mass commercial cultivation. This plant is an excellent garden plant, highly resistant to disease and showing high tolerance of virus. The bulbs may be precooled and forced for cut flower production and the clone is vigorous and is a good grower and propagator.

  • Patent number: PP6327
Abstract: A new variety of hybrid lily plant bearing large clusters of medium sized, upright flowers particularly characterized by their deep pink, copiously spotted, and cream-centered coloration, the flowers being of excellent form and long persistence. The plant is of tall stature with abundant, relatively short leaves and its ability to be forced into flower out of season makes it especially suitable as a cut flower variety. The color pattern and silhouette of this new plant are completely new in the upright Asiatic divisions of lilies suited to cut flower forcing and to mass commercial cultivation. The plant is highly resistant to disease and shows high tolerance of virus, making it an excellent garden plant; and the bulbs may be precooled and forced throughout the year for cut flower production. The clone is vigorous and a good grower and propagator.

  • Patent number: 4776044
Abstract: A hat is described having a set of audio earphones releasably mounted in earflaps that cover the user's ears. The earphones are disc shaped mini-speakers having a thin profile that are insertable in a pocket between an inner wall and outer wall of each flap. Each earphone is releasably held in place by a hook-loop connection. Preferably a loop fabric is formed as the inner lining of the inner wall and a hook patch is secured onto the grill face of the earphone. The user may adjust the position of the earphone with the pocket to individually fit the earphones in relation to his ears. The hook-loop connection prevents the earphones from moving within the pocket when the user is subjected to acceleration forces that are typical in vigorous activity such as skiing.

  • Patent number: 4776062
Abstract: A sausage filling apparatus comprises a conventional sausage filling machine operable to extrude sausage meat into a compressed length of tubular sausage casing retained over a support pipe through which the meat is fed under pressure. The filled casing passes to a sausage linking machine where the casing is twisted into individually-linked sausages. The invention provides a moveable deflector plate which is moveable into the path of the tubular sausage casing between the nozzle and the linking machine. This causes the sausage casing to follow a tortuous path between these two points, dispelling air present in the casing and leading to more consistent weight and an improved appearance in the final product.

  • Patent number: 4776067
Abstract: A self-locking tie for tying bundles of articles such as cables has an elongated tongue with ratchet teeth on one face and one end of which may be passed through a locking head at the other end of the tongue to form a closed loop about matter being tied with the ratchet teeth on the outside of the loop. The locking head includes a resilient pawl for engaging the tongue and holding it between the pawl and an opposed abutment surface against release. In addition, on the same side of the locking head as the pawl, the locking head includes a plurality of fixed teeth engageable by the tongue ratchet teeth. On insertion of the tongue and first tightening thereof, any tension in the tongue on release of the tightening force is taken by the pawl either alone or together with the fixed teeth.

  • Patent number: 4776069
Abstract: A piston-glide shoe combination for use in a zone-adjustable variable-crown roll comprising a stationary central axle and a cylindrical roll mantle rotatably mounted on the central axle, the glide shoes of the combinations being loaded by hydraulic fluid pressure against the inner surface of the roll mantle so as to control the distribution of nip pressure in a nip formed by the variable-crown roll and a counter-roll. The piston-glide shoe combination includes an auxiliary chamber arrangement into which the pressure fluid is passed from the lubrication chambers and/or glide surface regions of the glide shoe through ducts so that when the pressure in the lubrication chambers and/or on the glide surface regions of the glide shoe is reduced, the reduced pressure is transmitted through the duct to a particular auxiliary chamber or chambers so that a torque tending to stabilize the play at the glide surface of the glide shoe that causes the reduced pressure.

  • Patent number: 4776074
Abstract: A cylinder block of a rotary slide vane compressor, having an eccentric inner surface with split inner sleeve members embedded therein and in slidable contact with the vanes. The method for making the cylinder block comprises the steps of preparing an inner sleeve original form of a ferrous material and having a circumferentially closed integral portion. This original form is embedded in the inner surface of the cylinder of aluminum alloy during the step of casting the cylinder block, and thereafter, the cast cylinder block is machined together with the original form to cut away the circumferentially closed integral portion and thereby separate the original form into a plurality of split inner sleeve members.
