  • Patent number: 4776228
Abstract: An improved strutless synchronizer has an annular spring interposed between an internally splined sleeve, mounted for axial sliding movement on a main shaft, and an associated blocking ring. Selected ones of the sleeve splines are formed at the extremities with radially inwardly extending teeth. Each of the teeth has a dual chamfered face portion in opposed relation with the annular spring. The blocking ring has three equally spaced lugs each formed with a transverse groove sized to axially capture the annular spring so as to allow the spring freedom to rotate in its grooves relative to the blocking ring. Each time the sleeve is moved toward meshed engagement with an associated main shaft ratio gear its spline teeth chamfered faces compress the spring at random points thereby minimizing spring wear. Also, the grooves, by positively retaining the spring, insure instant unloading of the blocking ring.

  • Patent number: 4776262
Abstract: Filtered insulation baffle that serves as a barrier against insects and other pests entering an attic space of a building while allowing free air to flow into the attic through the baffle. A housing is formed with closed sides and open ends and sized to fit into the area between adjacent rafters of the building. A filter is formed from a porous filter material that is sized larger than the open end of the housing and positioned in one end of the housing to allow the filter material to protrude from the housing. The baffle is positioned between the rafters with the filter material protruding into an opening between the roof deck and the plate structure of the building. The protruding filter material is then wedged into the opening such that a portion of the filter material will roll back on the end of the housing to seal the opening while allowing free air to pass through the baffle and into the attic space of the building.

  • Patent number: 4776274
Abstract: A proximity fuzing arrangement for an airborne body which is equipped with a reflective beam range-finding device. The path of the beam of the range-finding device extends through a point which is located eccentrically offset relative to and rotates about the longitudinal axis of the airborne body behind a collective or focusing optic, and which extends along a variable viewing angle relative to the longitudinal axis of the airborne body. The combination of a passive infrared-target tracking arrangement with an active-laser range-finding device behind the same large collective or focusing optic, is thereby especially suited for an increase in the power of a rapid air defense-airborne body against target objects which enter into the atmosphere in a steep ballistic trajectory and which are thereby intensely heated.
