Patent number: 5144723Abstract: In order to optimally control the air supply in a diverging gap between a card main cylinder and a doffer roll, an air guide plate with a predetermined spacing on the narrowest part between the air guide plate and the surface of the main cylinder and with an aperture angle is arranged close to the main cylinder so that a converging gap is provided between the air guide plate and the surface of the main cylinder. In this converging gap, a pressure head builds up in operation through the air conveyed from the surface of the main cylinder, which leads to an overflow over a nose of the air guide plate. This overflow helps the fleece, which is loosened from the main cylinder, to more easily reach the doffer surface. In order to control the quantity of overflowing air, the gap is to be determined by trial.Type: GrantFiled: December 7, 1990Date of Patent: September 8, 1992Assignee: Maschinenfabrik Rieter AGInventors: Erich Hohloch, Hansruedi Fehr

Patent number: 5144741Abstract: A core block almost square in cross section has two winding grooves cut in its two polished sides forming one of its four corners. The grooved sides of the core block are vapor-deposited with a gap spacer to form magnetic gaps. Two side blocks, which have their one side cut with inclined track grooves, are bonded to the two sides of the core block, with the track groove sides in contact with the core block. At this time, the side blocks are adjusted to align the corresponding slant track grooves in the two side blocks. This ensures that the gap heights are equal in a single head chip, which in turn eliminates a time-consuming pairing process required with conventional manufacturing method. The assembled block is cut at their corners and then sliced along the slant track grooves to form a number of head chips.Type: GrantFiled: November 7, 1991Date of Patent: September 8, 1992Assignee: Pioneer Electronic CorporationInventor: Hiroyuki Ohta

The wear indicating system includes a pair of generally U-shaped ribs formed on a front end portion of the adapter nose and wrapping around its front end and top and bottom side surfaces. With the adapter nose operatively positioned within the tooth point pocket the ribs are received in complementarily configured, generally U-shaped wear indicating grooves formed in the interior surface of the pocket at its front. As the tooth point is used, its front end is worn away until small holes are created therein which open into front portions of the pocket grooves, thereby exposing the previously concealed adapter nose ribs to view.Type: GrantFiled: April 16, 1990Date of Patent: September 8, 1992Assignee: GH Hensley Industries, Inc.Inventor: Howard W.
