  • Patent number: 6070271
Abstract: An improved protective helmet is made of a dual density, closed-cell, polymeric foam laminate. The inner layer is a lower density (3.8 to 5 pcf), closed-cell, polymeric foam for comfort, absorbing minor impacts and distributing impact stress over a larger surface of the skull to reduce injury. The outer layer is a higher density (5 to 7.2 pcf), closed-cell, polymeric foam to absorb major impacts and add structural stability to the helmet. Ventilation holes provide airflow through the helmet. Cushioning pads may be added inside the helmet for customizing fit and improving ventilation. The preferred material for the inner and outer layers of the laminated, dual density protective helmet is a nitrogen blown, cross-linked, closed-cell, polyethylene foam. The dual density, closed-cell, polymeric foam laminate of the helmet provides improved impact attenuation. The laminate also reduces the weight of the helmet, which improves comfort and reduces neck fatigue for the wearer.

  • Patent number: 6070276
Abstract: To eliminate the necessity of a water tank, this invention converts the traditional toilet bowl with siphonic water trap into a toilet basin with a tilting-bowl. The toilet includes a frame, a toilet basin, a tilting bowl and a trigger means. The tilting bowl is mounted to pivot as a movable water/waste container. In its not tilted horizontal position, the tilting bowl receives and holds water/waste delivered to it through the toilet basin. When the tilting bowl tilts, it discharges its content to drainage pipe through a bottom discharge hole; simultaneously allowing water/waste to discharge from basin to drainage. The tilting bowl is normally retarded to stay in its horizontal position by forces applied to the tilting bowl creating a resultant retarding turning moment about its pivot point larger than the turning moment produced by the tilting bowl with its content.

  • Patent number: 6070278
Abstract: A hydraulic chair lift for a pool or other body of water. The present hydraulic chair lift utilizes standard faucet water pressure to raise and lower the seat. The entire chair lift assembly is rotatable about a single point for easy loading and unloading of a passenger on the chair assembly. The rotation assembly also allows the user to lock the chair in a particular position. The support and cylinder assembly is comprised of an upwardly extending support bar which is clamped to a cylinder assembly. The cylinder assembly itself is attached to the water source. The cylinder assembly additionally has a floating cylinder which rises and lowers by pressure applied to an upper rubber seal. The entire cylinder assembly is prevented from rotating by a key lock system wherein the key enters directly into the piston rod. The chair assembly is attached to the lowest point of the piston rod.

  • Patent number: 6070284
Abstract: A wafer cleaning apparatus provides two opposed brushes for brushing a vertically disposed wafer in a tank which can contain a process liquid. A pressure controller adaptively controls the pressure exerted by the brushes on the wafer to compensate for brush wear. Rim driving wheels engage the wafer periphery with a porous jacket coupled to a fluid delivery system, thereby simultaneously rotating and cleaning the periphery of the wafer. The apparatus includes a fluid delivery system for separately and independently delivering a plurality of constituents of a cleaning solution to the brushes, thereby ensuring that a freshly mixed cleaning solution reaches the wafer. The tank can be filled with a process liquid through which megasonic waves provided by a transducer can propagate and impinge upon the wafer thereby enhancing the cleaning of the wafer or the brushes.

  • Patent number: 6070285
Abstract: The invention shows pipe cleaning apparatuses for oil and gas pipelines in which a shield with a cleaning apparatus is moved forward by a liquid flow in the pipeline. The shield forms one or more apertures in the pipeline for a passing liquid flow in order to build up a predetermined pressure and is provided at its rear end with a braking apparatus which prevents undesirably large speeds of advance in that at least one clamping element adheres momentarily to the pipe wall and moves relative to the braking apparatus. This movement is kinematically transmitted to a hydraulic displacer which produces a secondary liquid flow that is braked via at least one throttle point and thus determines the speed between the shield and the pipe wall.

  • Patent number: 6070310
Abstract: The invention relates to forming, on a piezoelectric element, a plurality of piezoelectric walls and concave grooves so as to be arranged alternately and parallel to each other. Thereafter, a conductive layer of a metallic thin film is formed on the back end surface and the bottom surface opposite to the grooved side of the actuator board, side surfaces of the piezoelectric walls, and the electrodes are conductably connected with the conductive layer. Then, the actuator board is subjected to a dicing process or the like to form a plurality of dividing lateral grooves on a back end surface and a bottom surface of the actuator board, forming a plurality of divided conductive patterns extending in the front and rear direction of the actuator board, and additionally, to form a dividing longitudinal groove intersecting with the lateral grooves on the bottom surface, separating the conductive patterns from other portions of the conductive layer.

  • Patent number: 6070313
Abstract: Disclosed is a locking wrench and tarpaulin replacement method for a truck with a tarpaulin assembly having a spring-biased tarpaulin roller rotatably mounted on a roller shaft and a tarpaulin attached to the roller. The locking wrench comprises a handle portion, a roller-shaft-engaging portion, and an outwardly-projecting stem for engaging a hole provided in the side of the roller when the roller-shaft-engaging portion engages the roller shaft. When the wrench is secured to the roller and the handle portion is released, the bias of the roller causes the roller and the wrench to rotate back until the handle portion comes to rest against part of the tarpaulin assembly or part of the truck, thereby preventing further rotation of the roller and allowing an operator to replace the tarpaulin.

  • Patent number: 6070314
Abstract: A device for coaxially connecting a coupler to a reinforcement bar including a threaded joint tool for the attachment of the coupler by the threaded portion of the coupler, a hollow double action jack body, and an extrusion tool. The extrusion tool is translatable along the axis of the coupler so as to allow for regular deformation of the material of the coupler in order to induce the connection on a reinforcement bar. A counter-pressure device is provided on the coupler so as to exert a force on the coupler in an opposite direction to that which is applied by the extrusion tool. The counter-pressure device serves to induce the connection of the coupler on the reinforcement bar by automatically controlling the elongation of the material of the coupler induced by the force of the extrusion.
