Publication number: 20010020759Abstract: A molten metal vessel includes a first chamber for containing molten metal such as molten aluminum therein, a filtration chamber in which impurities contained in the molten metal are removed, and a second chamber for reserving clean molten metal to be supplied to a casting die. The molten metal flows from the first chamber to the second chamber through the filtration chamber. A pair of filters, preferably a pair of cylindrical filters, are disposed in the filtration chamber, so that the impurities contained in the molten metal can be filtered twice. The filters are attached to the bottom of the filtration chamber where molten metal oxides hardly develop, so that the filters are easily replaced with new ones for the maintenance purpose. A rod-shaped heater may be disposed in the cylindrical filters to keep the molten metal temperature in a strictly controlled range. Thus, the impurities are effectively removed from the molten metal through the filters which are easily replaceable.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 24, 2001Publication date: September 13, 2001Inventors: Tomoyuki Hatano, Takeshi Nagasaka, Hiromi Takagi, Sumi Yoshikawa, Shunji Moohizuki

Publication number: 20010020770Abstract: A hydrodynamically lubricating seal has a generally circular seal body defining a static sealing surface and having a dynamic sealing lip projecting from the seal body for establishing sealing relation with a relatively rotatable surface. When compressed against a relatively rotatable surface, dynamic sealing lip defines a hydrodynamic geometry which wedges a film of lubricating fluid into the interface between the seal and the relatively rotatable surface in response to relative rotation. The dynamic sealing lip geometry maintains interfacial contact pressure within the dynamic sealing interface for efficient hydrodynamic lubrication and environmental exclusion, which enhances lubrication and environmental exclusion while permitting relatively high initial compression and relatively low torque.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 12, 2001Publication date: September 13, 2001Applicant: KALSI ENGINEERING, INC.Inventors: Lannie dietle, Manmohan S. Publication number: 20010020775Abstract: A trailing arm axle/suspension system includes rigid or spring beams for mounting the axle directly to the beam without any or minimal, respectively, additional mounting hardware or structure. An axle mounting plate is formed as part of the preassembled rigid beam or attached to the spring beam, and is formed with a recess that can range from significantly smaller than to generally the same size as the smallest axle which will be seated therein. Publication number: 20010020797Abstract: The pillar structure to which the passenger cabin end of the hood ridge panel is connected, is arranged have different localized structural deformation resistances which buckle/deform in a manner which causes the hood ridge panel to reorient in response to a vehicle structure deforming force being applied to the front of the vehicle during a collision, and results in the force, which passes through the hood ridge panel, being redirected by a load-converting and transmitting member included in the pillar, up and along an upper rearwardly angled upper portion of the pillar. This force redirection produces sufficient resistance to induce compressive bucking in the structure forward of the passenger cabin and thus attenuate damage to the cabin structure.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 1, 2001Publication date: September 13, 2001Applicant: NISSAN MOTOR Co., LTD.Inventor: Hidetsugu Saeki

Publication number: 20010020798Abstract: A device for adjusting a crank element of a openable motor vehicle roof, with a holding element which engages the crank element such that the crank element and the holding element can be moved relative to one another along a fin-like guideway on the crank element. The fin-like guideway is surrounded by a slide element which is formed on the holding element whereby the slide element can be rotated with respect to the holding element around an axis which is perpendicular to the plane in which the crank element and the holding element move.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 11, 2000Publication date: September 13, 2001Inventor: Manfred Farber

Publication number: 20010020799Abstract: A motor-vehicle armrest has a guide strip with an inner end fixed on a pivot part and an outer end bearing elastically radially on the pivot part at an intermediate position passed by a latch-member pin before a body part pivoted on the pivot part reaches an upper end position. This guide is formed between its ends with a notch through which the pin can pass radially when the body part is generally in the lower position. It has between its ends a front surface engageable by the pin for outward deflection of the latch-member end as the intermediate position is passed and also has between its ends a back surface engageable by the pin to deflect the member out of radial engagement with the teeth on movement of the body part from the upper position back past the intermediate position toward the lower position.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 7, 2001Publication date: September 13, 2001Applicant: GRAMMER AUTOMOTIVE GMBHInventors: Peter Bullesbach, Ervin Jahic

Publication number: 20010020801Abstract: A configuration containing a sensor for accident detection, a downstream control device, a downstream firing device and a firing element for a restraint device is described. The control device generates a control signal that is composed of a first current in one direction and a subsequent second current in the opposite direction. The firing device has an integration device for integrating the first current, and also an enable device, which is connected downstream of the integration device and serves for enabling firing of the firing element. The firing of the firing element is effected by the second current when or after a limit value of the integral of the first current has been reached.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 12, 2001Publication date: September 13, 2001Inventor: Horst Belau

Publication number: 20010020802Abstract: A power unit having a built-in battery to supply voltage from the battery over a long period of time by utilizing fully the capabilities of the built-in battery. The power unit supplies electric power to a load even when a battery with a higher battery voltage than the external power source voltage is used by charging the battery from an external power source even when the external power source voltage is lower than the battery voltage. By charging the battery when electric power is supplied to a load from an external power source, the power unit supplies electric power to the load from the battery when the supply of electricity from an external power source is cut off. The power unit includes a having converter to boost output voltage from the battery and to supply the voltage to the load when the battery is discharged and the external power source voltage is higher than the battery voltage.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 23, 1998Publication date: September 13, 2001Inventors: SEIYA KITAGAWA, MITSUO SAEKI, HIDEKIYO OZAWA

Publication number: 20010020803Abstract: The present invention relates generally to D.C. power supplies and more particularly to overvoltage protection in one or more D.C. power supply circuits, where a plurality of D.C. power supplies may be connected together to supply power to an electronic system. In one embodiment a D.C. power supply circuit is provided which, when used with the plurality of D.C. power supply circuits connected in parallel, is capable of stopping only the power supply circuit having run into an overvoltage state with minimal effect on the other D.C. power supply circuits. Thus power to the load is continued.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 6, 2001Publication date: September 13, 2001Inventors: Naoki Maru, Akihiro Sakurai, Hiroshi Kamee
