Publication number: 20010024002Abstract: An apparatus and method for generating artificial atmospheres in a furnace for the heat treating of materials. The furnace includes a substantially isolated chamber having a discharge receiving orifice for accepting a bi-phasic cryogen into a hot/work zone of the chamber. A low pressure cryogen source feeds a bi-phasic inert gas into the chamber in order to allow the volumetric expansion of the evaporating liquid constituent of the bi-phasic cryogen to purge a substantial portion of the ambient oxygen from the chamber and to allow a substantial residual concentration of the inert gas to blanket the process area without significant dissipation during the heat treating process. Oxidizable materials heat treated in artificial atmospheres generated by use of bi-phasic cryogens show no signs of scaling or staining through the process and thus do not need to undergo acid bathing prior to subsequent processing.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 2, 2001Publication date: September 27, 2001Applicant: AIR LIQUIDE AMERICA CORP.Inventor: Kenneth A. Publication number: 20010024008Abstract: In a travelling worktable apparatus including a roller guide unit to guide a travelling table. Deformation of a sample table caused in association with precision of the guide unit such as deviation in precision of rail attachment and precision of rollers is prevented while keeping rigidity of the roller guide. This keeps a fixed distance between a bar mirror unit and a sample on the sample table. For this purpose, the Y table (top table) of the prior art is subdivided into a travelling table to hold the roller guide and a sample table to mount a sample thereon. These tables are fixed by a pin which can be more easily deformed than the tables and are linked with each other by an elastic body.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 27, 2001Publication date: September 27, 2001Applicant: Hitachi, Ltd.Inventors: Masaki Mizuochi, Yoshimasa Fukushima, Masami Katsuyama, Toshinori Kobayashi

Publication number: 20010024014Abstract: A sucking hole is formed at a longitudinal groove at a leading end chuck side end of the longitudinal groove. In a clamp of the leading end chuck, a shut-off valve facing the sucking hole is provided at a clamp portion which opposes a leading end of the printing plate. When the longitudinal groove is not covered with the printing plate, a cap portion of the shut-off valve enters the longitudinal groove so as to shut the sucking hole. In this way, negative pressure is supplied only to the longitudinal groove which is covered with the printing plate, and leakage of negative pressure from the sucking holes of the longitudinal grooves not covered by the printing plate is prevented. As a result, desired suction adhesion can be obtained without need for a large-capacity negative pressure source.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 23, 2001Publication date: September 27, 2001Inventor: Takao Ozaki

Publication number: 20010024018Abstract: A metallic gasket installed between confronting surfaces of engine components is improved in heat conduction between the components so as to reduce the adverse thermal influence to the engine. The metallic gasket used between the confronting surfaces of, for example a cylinder head and a cylinder block is composed of an annular raised portion defining inside a gas hole in alignment with an associated cylinder bore, and a surrounding metallic sheet connected to the annular raised portion. Both the annular raised portion and the surrounding metallic sheet are made of aluminum material to render the heat conduction between the components efficient. Thus the improved gasket can reduce the adverse thermal influence such as thermal deformation, thermal stress, and so on, whether the components are made of different materials or same materials.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 7, 2001Publication date: September 27, 2001Inventors: Minoru Teranishi, Kiyoshi Sugimoto, Kazuya Yoshijima

Publication number: 20010024019Abstract: A gasket-squeeze construction wherein a warp-limiter member is installed in a bolt hole in which a fastening bolt fits. The warp-limiter member is made less in an amount of flex than confronting surfaces, between which the gasket is disposed and squeezed by the tightening of the fastening bolt. The warp-limiter member serves to make the sealing stress uniform around a combustion gas hole. The warp-limiter member installed in the bolt hole, because of tougher to flex than the confronting surfaces when tightening the fastening bolt, makes uniform the clamping force of the fastening bolt and the compressive stress created around the associated bolt hole, moreover dispersing uniformly the sealing stress throughout around the combustion gas hole such as a cylinder bore, thereby rendering variation in distortion in the sealing joint less to improve the sealing performance.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 7, 2001Publication date: September 27, 2001Inventors: Takuya Watanabe, Kiyoshi Sugimoto, Kazuya Yoshijima

A rocker is movably mounted to the cover for selectively engaging at least one of the stops of the notch within the cam. A first controller rotates the cam into selective engagement with the block and the rocker for defining the unlocked condition and the locked condition, respectively, of the door lock. A second controller rotates the rocker to release the rocker from one of the stops of the notch to allow further rotation of the cam from the locked condition to the double locked condition.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 4, 2001Publication date: September 27, 2001Applicant: Atoma International Corp.Inventors: Darek Barczynski, Roman Cetnar, Greogy A. Publication number: 20010024045Abstract: A power gripper for a machine or robotic tool having a housing provided with a cylinder and piston for actuating a pair of finger carriers slidably mounted on the housing to reciprocate between open and closed positions wherein the range of opening is enhanced for a gripper of a given size. This is attained by the piston rod having a rack portion meshing with an idler pinion that is in meshing relationship with a rack formed on one of the finger carriers whereby the latter is synchronized relative to the movement of the piston. The other finger carrier is pinned to the piston to move therewith. In one form of the invention, a fluid pressure acting on the opposed ends of the piston effects the drive of the piston in either direction. In another form of the invention, a fluid pressure is imparted on one end of the piston only and which piston is spring biased to effect the drive of the piston in the opposite direction.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 14, 2001Publication date: September 27, 2001Inventor: Millo Bertini

Publication number: 20010024046Abstract: A utility vehicle has a load-carrying platform, a pair of side plates, a gate, a pair of gate locking bolts each capable of engaging the side plate to hold the gate in the closed state, and a pair of handles each connected to the gate locking bolt. The gate locking bolt is axially movable in lateral directions between a locking position and a retracted position, and is biased toward the locking position by a spring. The gate locking bolt is capable of being urged toward the retracted position by the side plate when the gate is turned to be closed. The gate locking bolt is capable of being moved to the retracted position by operating the handle.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 14, 2001Publication date: September 27, 2001Applicant: KAWASAKI JUKOGYO KABUSHIKI KAISHAInventor: Fumio Mizuta

Publication number: 20010024048Abstract: A sun visor assembly having a non-expanding adhesive. The sun visor is formed from a substantially flat foundation that is folded unto itself, thereby forming two foundation halves. The non-expanding adhesive, is applied to the foundation of the sun visor, and when the two portions are pressed together, the adhesive also comes into contact with the upholstery cover which is adhered to the peripheral edges of the foundation. The non-expanding adhesive adheres the two portions of the sun visor together, allowing for a sun visor assembly which is flexible enough to bend to accommodate the exertion of pressure thereon, yet rigid enough to function as desired.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 17, 2001Publication date: September 27, 2001Inventors: James (Jud) Hobson, Glenn Snyder
