The gear mechanism comprises a plurality of cylindrical gearwheels (9 to 12) arranged one above the other, so as to be very narrow and such that the overall dimensions of the housing (5) for the gear mechanism do not exceed the width and height dimensions of the frame (1). This novel arrangement allows integration of the drive as a whole and minimizes the amount of space required.

Abstract: An air conditioning cooling apparatus and method which includes the steps of supplying cooling air generated from a cooling apparatus into an air passageway formed below a floor; guiding the cooling air within the air passageway into an equipment assembly disposed on the floor through an opening located in the floor; communicating the cooling air introduced into the equipment assembly into a plenum and introducing the air released from within the equipment into the plenum and communicating the released air through the cooling apparatus for cooling the released air. The method permits temperature differential between the air supplied to the air passageway and the air introduced into the plenum from the equipment assembly to be 45° F. to substantially 40° F. so as to reduce the power necessary for operating on the fan of the blowing apparatus. The equipment assembly utilizes an air flow control mechanism so as to substantially evenly distribute cooling air to the equipment.

Abstract: A thermodynamic cycle is disclosed that uses compression and expansion to generate refrigeration or power in which at least some of the compression is effected by hydrostatic head of the heat-exchange medium used in the cycle. In a refrigeration cycle, the head of a heat-exchange medium in the refrigeration cycle is used to compress the heat-exchange medium. A vaporous heat-exchange medium is introduced into the upper end of a down riser that extends downwardly through a heat sink. The vaporous heat-exchange medium descends through the down riser and the head of the heat-exchange medium compresses the heat-exchange medium. The heat generated by the compression is transferred to the heat sink. The heat-exchange medium is then pumped up through a return riser and passed through a pressure expansion means and evaporator. From the evaporator the heat-exchange medium is returned to the upper end of the down riser for recycling.

The plurality of heat exchanging tubes 12 are grouped into three paths P1-P3 by partitions 16. A refrigerant introduced from a refrigerant inlet 11a provided at the lower portion of one of headers passes upwardly through the paths P1-P3 in sequence, and flows out of a refrigerant outlet 11b provided at an upper portion of one of headers. The cross-sectional area of each path decreases stepwise towards a downstream side path, and the reduction rate of the cross-sectional are of the downstream side path of the adjacent two paths to the cross-sectional area of the upstream side path thereof is set to 20%. Thereby, the cooling performance can be achieved.

Abstract: The present invention provides a method for making a stain-resistant float glass and an apparatus for carrying out such a method. In keeping with this method, SO3 is applied to the upper surface of float glass in an amount efficacious to materially reduce staining of the upper surface of the glass. Optimally, SO3 gas can be applied directly onto the upper surface of the glass. An apparatus of the invention generally includes a downwardly open hood positioned above the upper surface of the glass and having walls defining an enclosure. SO3 gas (either as such or as a reactive mixture of SO2 gas and an oxygen-containing gas) is delivered through a delivery tube to the enclosure.

Abstract: A washing machine includes a washing shaft for rotating agitating blades disposed in a dewatering tank, and the washing shaft is disposed coaxially on a hollow dewatering shaft for rotating the dewatering tank. The washing shaft is connected to the output side of a reduction mechanism, and a washing side input shaft is connected to the input side of the reduction mechanism to rotate the washing shaft by decelerating the rotation of a drive motor. A rotor of the drive motor is coupled to the lower part of the washing side input shaft. Therefore, the rotating torque of the agitating blades can be increased without increasing the torque of the drive motor. In addition, if the laundry collides against the agitating blades, the eccentricity to the washing side input shaft is suppressed, thereby the increase of the washing capacity can be handled without increasing the size of the drive motor.
