The feeder assembly supports top cover wireframe caddies, each caddy containing top covers. A dial assembly transports each caddy into alignment with an elevator assembly that aligns the top cover with an escapement assembly that removes the top cover from the caddy. The robotic assembly has a positioning assembly supporting a pair of Z-axis end effector assemblies, the positioning assembly transporting the pair of effector assemblies to predetermined positions. A first end effector assembly picks and places the top cover adjacent the basedeck and a second end effector assembly grips and secures the top cover onto the basedeck via the top cover fasteners.

Abstract: A conductive gasket is disclosed for use in apparatus to block the exit or entry of electromagnetic interference (EMI) between adjacent metal surfaces of the apparatus. The gasket is formed at least in part by a polymeric film having an outward facing surface embossed so as to provide a plurality of peaks distributed over the surface. A metal is coated, by vapor deposition, onto the surface so as to over lie the peaks. This provides the film with a conductive surface. When located between adjacent metal surfaces, abrasion of the metal coating from the peaks over time does not adversely affect the conductive properties of the film surface. This is because the wearing away of the metal from the tops of the peaks exposes a cross section of the metal at the sides of the peaks, which remain in contact with the adjacent metal surfaces of the apparatus.

Abstract: A monolithic inkjet printhead formed using integrated circuit techniques is described. A silicon substrate has formed on its top surface a thin polysilicon layer in the area in which a trench is to be later formed in the substrate. The edges of the polysilicon layer align with the intended placement of ink feed holes leading into ink ejection chambers. Thin film layers, including a resistive layer, are formed on the top surface of the silicon substrate and over the polysilicon layer. An orifice layer is formed on the top surface of the thin film layers to define the nozzles and ink ejection chambers. A trench mask is formed on the bottom surface of the substrate. A trench is etched (using, for example, TMAH) through the exposed bottom surface of the substrate and to the polysilicon layer. The etching of the polysilicon layer exposes fast etch planes of the silicon. The TMAH then rapidly etches the silicon substrate along the etch planes, thus aligning the edges of the trench with the polysilicon.

The process includes moving both an optical transmitting device and also an optical receiving device each into at least three different rotary positions. In this way, pertinent circles can be defined by which the location of the axis of rotation of the first spindle or the center of rotation of the second spindle can be computed in relation to one another. The parallel offset of the spindles can thus be determined in the horizontal and in the vertical plane. To determine the angular offset of the two spindles, another measurement of this type must be taken in which the optical transmitting device and the receiving device are mounted interchanged with one another on the spindles.

The alignment tool includes a plurality of indicia printed thereon for guiding the placement of a desired number of index tabs. The indicia indicate by positioning of both numerals and lines where an index tab is to be placed on an indexing material, depending on the number of index tabs that are to be placed. The alignment tool may also be positioned on a sheet and removable from the sheet to align index tabs on different documents. Multiple alignment tools may also be positioned on a sheet and removable to align index tabs on documents of different sizes.

Abstract: A microparticle taggant having two or more distinguishable marker layers corresponding to a predetermined numeric code. The plurality of particles comprises a plurality of microparticle sets of at least one microparticle, each microparticle set is characterized by a specific marker layer combination different from each other microparticle set, and the combination of microparticle sets employed in said taggant collectively forms the numeric code. Each specific marker layer combination may employ two or more layers. The microparticle sets employed in the taggant may include at least one datum marker layer coded to include place information and at least two value marker layers coded to specify a value within the place, the datum marker layer(s) being readily distinguishable from the value marker layers and functioning to identify an orientation of the value marker layers.

Abstract: A device, system, and method for labeling three-dimensional objects. A sheet comprising at least one tag, each tag consisting of a thin piece of resilient, print-treated polyester, or other material, and a method of attaching the tag to a three-dimensional object, such as a glass or plastic vial, is described. The tag identifies each individual object, and permits transfer of the object throughout a series of analytical processes without losing object identity. The tag is marked by offset printing, laser engraving, or another marking process such that the marking does not become unreadable during handling and testing. Labeling of individual objects is accomplished by inserting an object through an aperture in the tag resulting in the tag being attached to the vial. Removal of the vial from the sheet causes the tag to be separated from the sheet and to remain attached to the vial. Alternatively, a sheet holder, such as a rack, could be used to hold the sheet of tags during the labeling process.

Abstract: Index tabs having a mechanism for alignment with an edge of a mounting sheet, and methods for making and using the same. Embodiments exemplary of the alignment mechanism include various stopper constructions, pocket constructions, and the like. For example, a pocket can be formed within an index tab, such that the pocket contains an opening at the bottom for receiving an edge of a mounting sheet. The edge of the mounting sheet becomes aligned with the index tab when it fully engages the top of the pocket, which acts as a stopper. After alignment is achieved, the index tab is adhered to the mounting sheet. Various shapes and materials that are beneficial in the new tab constructions are also disclosed.

Abstract: A card holder for securely linking together an identification card to a validation card so as to prevent fraudulent removal of the identification and validation cards once the latter have been inserted into the card holder. The card holder defines a generally flat and hollow casing having a casing front wall, an opposed casing rear wall, a casing top wall, an opposed casing bottom wall and a pair of casing side walls. The casing front wall has a window aperture extending therethrough. The casing bottom wall has a bottom wall slot extending therethrough. The first card is adapted to be secured within the casing so that it can be visualized through the window aperture. A carriage component defining a carriage slot is slidably mounted within the casing inner volume over the first card.

Abstract: A label holding strip is formed of extruded plastic material, with front and back panels joined integrally along the bottom region of said strip to form an upwardly opening pocket for the reception of labels. The upper portions of the panels are of a generally uniform thickness, while the bottom region of the strip, preferably in the form of a forwardly projecting lobe, is of a significantly (20% or more) greater thickness. A smooth transition region joins the thinner and thicker portions of the strip. The front and rear panels, in the lower portions, are spaced apart a distance not less that the thickness of labels intended to be inserted therein. Upper portions of one of the panels, typically the front panel, curve toward the other panel for gripping a label inserted in the pocket.
