Abstract: A method of multiple dipping to make gloves with a clear wrist portion, which allows glove wearers to see through the transparent wrist portion and tell time with the gloves on, is disclosed. The method is applicable to all the common materials to make gloves, or coat gloves, via dipping: including natural rubber latex, nitrile rubber latex(carboxylated or non-carboxylated), polychloroprene latex, polyisoprene latex, polyurethane latex, polyvinyl chloride and their blends, or mixtures thereof. The invention provides procedures to make compounds, which are both transparent and opaque, as well as dipping sequences for the materials. Products, with the added feature of a transparent wrist portion, are provided without sacrificing performance and without increasing production cost.

  • Publication number: 20020133866
Abstract: This invention satisfies a long felt need to protect a typical baseball type cap from the crushing forces often associated with shipping and packaging. This invention incorporates the not previously used idea of a half-crown or full-crown insert to support the cap from underneath against crushing forces occurring during shipping which tend to make an unsupported hat have a sloppy, wrinkled and undesirable appearance. The insert is retained inside the baseball type cap by tucking it into or around the sweatband. The industry has typically used outer rigid packaging covers to protect the cap during shipping and packaging. While these covers protect the cap from crushing forces, they do not support the crown portion from underneath. An underneath supporting insert will force the cap to retain its shape for long periods of time and can be used by the retail purchaser to retain the cap's shape when not in use.

Abstract: A large area surface cleaning tool, for suctioning both dust and debris from a surface being cleaned, comprises a housing having a surface facing peripheral bottom edge defining a suctioning bottom opening. An elongate wand has an inlet disposed in suctioning relation with the suctioning bottom opening of the housing and connected in fluid communication via an airflow passageway to an outlet disposed exteriorly to the housing and in fluid communication and in debris transfer relation to a vacuum source. A first debris duct operatively mounted on one of the housing and the elongate wand for movement therewith and having a debris inlet disposed in suctioning relation exteriorly to the housing at least partially above the peripheral bottom edge of the housing to thereby accept debris too large to pass between the peripheral bottom edge and a surface being cleaned during use, and connected in fluid communication to a debris outlet disposed in debris transfer relation to the vacuum source.

Abstract: A tear-resistant flexible hinge structure is placed between a pair of substantially rigid panels so as to permit the panels to be hinged one with respect to the other, where the flexible hinge is formed from a plastics material such as polyvinyl chloride. The hinge structure is formed under heat and pressure so as to comprise at least three parallel rows of alternating flat and raised portions, in staggered relationship. This causes a structure whereby any rip or tear which starts in the formed flexible hinge cannot continue because it will encounter a discontinuity in the configuration and thickness of the material, which precludes further propagation of the rip or tear. Typically, after the hinge structure has been formed, it is configured in a semi-circular cross section, re-heated and cooled, so as to set and have a memory in its closed configuration as opposed to the originally pre-formed flat, open configuration.

Abstract: A shaft part (3A) of a second hinge member (3) is press-fitted into a support hole (23) of a first hinge member (2). By this, frictional resistance is generated between an inner peripheral surface of the support hole (23) and an outer peripheral surface of the shaft part (3A). A coiled spring (4) is disposed between the first hinge member (2) and the second hinge member (3). The coiled spring (4) biases the first and second hinge members (2, 3) such that when the first and second hinge members (2, 3) are turned in normal and reverse directions from a predetermined neutral position, the first and second hinge members (2, 3) are returned towards the neutral position side.

Abstract: A positioning hinge for a notebook computer has multiple collars each provided with an obliquely formed friction plate. The friction plate engages a side face of an extension of a bracket configured to attach securely to a body of the computer to provide the necessary friction force to hole the monitor at an angle relative to the body of the computer. With such an arrangement, the friction force can be adjusted to accommodate different weights of the monitor by reducing or increasing the number of the collars.
