Abstract: A wrench comprises a rod, a slide control member, a casing for rotatably accommodating the slide control member, and a retaining device. The rod comprises a driving portion on an end thereof for engaging with a fastener. The slide control member is securely mounted to the rod to turn therewith. The retaining device is mounted in the casing and includes an end operably connected to the slide control member. When a rotational force applied to the casing is smaller than an engaging force between the slide control member and the end of the retaining device, the slide control member and the rod are turned to thereby turn the fastener. When a rotational force applied to the casing is greater than the engaging force between the slide control member and the end of the retaining device, the casing slides while the slide control member and the rod are not turned.

Abstract: A sheet feeding device of the present invention includes a cutter capable of being moved back and forth by hand between two reference positions outside of a sheet conveyance range. When the cutter is held in a halt at a position other than the reference positions, the sheet feeding device returns a sheet toward the upstream side by a preselected amount and then returns the cutter to one of the reference positions. Even when the cutter moved by hand for the replacement or the replenishment of a sheet is left in the sheet conveyance range, the cutter is prevented from again cutting the leading edge of the sheet when returning to the reference position. This protects the leading edge of the sheet from defective cutting.

Abstract: A pressure fluid-delivery device comprising a cylinder (1), a piston (2) and a reservoir (61) for a fluid. A V-seal (10) is mounted in an annulus between the cylinder (1) and the piston (2). An axial movement of the piston (2) forwards relative to the cylinder (1) results in a delivery of a pressure fluid from the cylinder space (40). A first leg (12), in a similar fashion to a check valve, hereby springingly attempts to seal an outlet opening (43) of a channel (30) which communicates with the reservoir (61). When the piston is moved backwards, this leg (12) can open the outlet opening (43), admitting fluid into the cylinder space (40). The seal (10) rests on a forwardly facing, radially outwardly extending surface (6) of the piston (2). The seal's (10) first leg (12) projects slantingly radially inwards and is arranged to come into abutment against an axially extending portion (3) of the piston.

Abstract: An improved method and system is provided to control the rapping process used to clean the internal collection plates and discharge electrodes of electrostatic precipitators. The system obtains the performance characteristics of a first rapper and calculates a rapper lift value. The system then obtains performance characteristic data from two or more additional rappers and calculates rapper lift values for each of the rappers. Finally, the system compares the rapper lift value of each additional rapper and adjusts its performance characteristics so that it substantially approximates the performance characteristics of the first rapper.

Abstract: A method of controlling occurrence of severe slugging in a riser (6) of a pipeline arrangement (2) comprising a riser base (8) and pipeline (4) conveying a multiphase fluid system in which the gas phase may be natural gas. The upper end of riser (6) is connected to a separator vessel (10) wherein the gas phase of the multiphase fluid system is separated from the liquid phase so that the separated gas leaves through gas outlet pipe (12) controlled by a valve (14), and the liquid leaves through an outlet pipe (16) controlled by valve (18). The valve (14) regulates the velocity of gas along the pipeline towards the riser.

Abstract: The present invention relates a method and an apparatus for removing malodor from the air. Such methods and devices are useful for example for storing and preserving food in closed compartments such as refrigerators. The method of the present invention comprises the steps of positioning first filter member inside said confined space independent from the position of a second filter member and of removing malodor molecules from the air of said confined space by adsorbing said molecules onto the surfaces of said first filter member and onto the surfaces of said second filter member. The apparatus of the present invention is characterized in that a first filter member is attachable to an air moving member and a second filter element is attachable to the air moving member.

Abstract: A process is provided for recovering oxygen-rich gas by enriching gaseous oxygen contained in crude gas by a single-tank PSA process which utilizes a single adsorption tower (1) loaded with an adsorbent. In the process, a cycle is repeated which includes an adsorption step of introducing crude gas into the adsorption tower (1), a desorbing step of desorbing unnecessary components from the adsorbent, a washing step of introducing washing gas into the adsorption tower (1) for discharging the remaining gas from the adsorption tower (1), and a pressurizing step of raising the internal pressure of the adsorption tower (1). The desorbing step includes recovering semi-enriched oxygen gas existing in the adsorption tower (1) after finishing of the adsorption for retention in a recovery tank (3). The washing step includes introducing part of the semi-enriched oxygen gas existing in the recovery tank (3) into the adsorption tower (1) as the washing gas.

Abstract: The present invention is a gas separator for separating a gas mixture into a product gas. The gas separator has an adsorbent bed including a separation chamber with first and second ports and a molecular sieve material contained in the separation chamber. A first pumping chamber is connected to the first port. A first valve regulates a flow of the gas mixture between the first port and the first pumping chamber. A first piston is located in the first pumping chamber. A second pumping chamber is connected to the second port. A second valve regulates a flow of the product gas between the second port and the second pumping chamber. A second piston is located in the second pumping chamber. A drive system coordinates operation of the first and second pistons and the first and second valves in a cycle including a pressurization stage, a gas shift stage, and a depressurization stage.

Abstract: The present invention is to provide a filter medium for a turbine in which contamination is less likely to be caused in the turbine, and an increase in pressure loss is suppressed. One form of this filter medium includes a porous polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) membrane and an air-permeable supporting member. The air-permeable supporting member has a fiber diameter of not more than 15 &mgr;m. This filter medium is used by disposing the air-permeable supporting member on an upstream side of the porous PTFE membrane with respect to air flow passing through the filter medium toward the turbine. Another form of the filter medium of the present invention includes a porous PTFE membrane, a first air-permeable supporting member, and a second air-permeable supporting member.
