Publication number: 20030043292Abstract: The image capture device detects a sudden light change event and captures images associated with the sudden light change event. Exposure values associated with the captured images are calculated. The difference between the exposure values are compared to an exposure value change criteria. If the difference is at least equal to the exposure value change criteria, the presence of a sudden light change event is determined and the most recently captured image is saved into memory. Thus, only images associated with the sudden light change event are saved, thereby more efficiently utilizing limited memory capacity. The sudden light change event is typically characterized by a relatively large, sudden and unpredictable increase in light such that the object of interest is more lighted. Also, after the onset of the sudden light change event and/or before the onset of the sudden light change event, images may be stored in memory.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 31, 2001Publication date: March 6, 2003Inventors: Norman C. Publication number: 20030043303Abstract: A system and method for correcting distortion in projected images caused by the projection of an input image by a projector lens onto a projection screen having a surface that is not orthogonal to the projection axis of the projector. Projection parameters including the focal length of the projector lens and the angles that represent the pan, tilt and roll angle of the projector are obtained. Then the projected area and the best viewable rectangular area that fits within said projected area is determined. The distortion is then characterized by using a distortion transformation which corresponds to the transformation that exists between the vertices of the best viewable rectangular area and the corresponding vertices of the projected area. Finally, the distortion transformation is inverted and applied to input image to obtain a distortion free projected image.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 12, 2002Publication date: March 6, 2003Inventors: Bonaventure Karuta, Louie Lee

Publication number: 20030043304Abstract: The invention is related two a new kind of plasma display panel control. A known principle for PDP control is based on a combination of sub-field addressing and priming. Within the priming period all the plasma cells of the panel are pre-excited by a strong voltage pulse. This treatment of the cells produces a slight background luminance which is a drawback for picture quality aspects because the achievable contrast is reduced. According to the invention it is proposed to use self-priming sub-fields (SPSF) and refreshing sub-fields (RSF) instead of this hard priming period. With these concept it is assured that the cells which ought to be black remain black. Self-priming sub-fields (SPSF) reduce or eliminate the need for priming, thus making dark areas darker, while refreshing sub-fields (RSF), can be addressed faster. In practice, the number of refreshing sub-fields (RSF) in a frame period is higher than the number of the self-priming sub-fields (SPSF).Type: ApplicationFiled: July 26, 2002Publication date: March 6, 2003Inventors: Carlos Correa, Sebastien Weitbruch, Rainer Zwing

The vias (16) electrically connect the mirrors (14) to a metal layer (12) having circuitry thereon associated with the mirrors (14). The vias (16) are positioned equidistant about a center (30) of the mirrors (14) such that spacing of the vias (16) is generally equidistant from an X axis (26) and Y axis (28) of the reflective LCD array 10. The vias (16) are positioned such that such symmetry is retained even where circuitry associated with adjacent mirrors (14) is a reflected image copy of the reference mirror (14). Where even spacing about either the X axis (26) or the Y axis (28) is not practical, the vias (16) are grouped near the center (30) of the mirror (14) along that axis such that the effect is that of there being only a single via (16) along such axis.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 22, 2001Publication date: March 6, 2003Inventor: William K. Publication number: 20030043308Abstract: A liquid crystal display device, and a method of fabricating that device, including a substrate with a thin film transistor having gate, source, and drain electrodes. A pixel electrode electrically connects to the drain electrode, and a data line electrically connects to the source electrode. A first insulating layer, a pure amorphous silicon layer, and a doped amorphous silicon layer are sequentially layered under the data line. A data pad is formed at one end of the data line. A gate line electrically connects to the gate electrode. A gate pad electrode at one end of the gate line is formed through the first insulating layer and connects to the gate line.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 19, 2002Publication date: March 6, 2003Inventors: Soon-Sung Yoo, Kyo-Ho Moon

Publication number: 20030043309Abstract: In an active matrix substrate of the IPS system, the present invention performs patterning of a protective film covering a TFT using a photosensitive resin based on an acrylic resin, and uses the acrylic resin as it is as a leveling layer after opening the protective film. Therefore, the leveling layer can be formed on the protective film without increasing the number of steps and suppressing the rubbing non-uniformity becomes possible.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 22, 2002Publication date: March 6, 2003Inventor: Shinichi Nakata

Publication number: 20030043310Abstract: Disclosed is a liquid crystal display apparatus which is reduced in an overall size and a weight of thereof. A lamp cover for protecting a lamp is disposed directly contacting a first sidewall of a bottom chassis. A light guiding plate for guiding the light from the lamp to a display unit and optical sheets for controlling a visual angle of the light are fixed in a receiving space of the bottom chassis by a guide frame which is installed at a second sidewall of the bottom chassis perpendicular to the lamp. Therefore, the size of the liquid crystal display device can be reduced by a thickness of the sidewall of a conventional mold frame. A mold frame having a low thermal conductivity does not exist between the lamp cover and the sidewall of the bottom chassis, so the heat generated from the lamp can be easily discharged.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 8, 2002Publication date: March 6, 2003Inventor: Chun-Hyun Cho

Publication number: 20030043312Abstract: A liquid crystal display device including a liquid crystal display panel, an illumination unit including a light-conducting plate having a protrusion protruded from a side surface of the light-conducting plate, and a housing having a bottom plate and a casing provided onto a bottom plate peripheral area for holding the light-conducting plate. A depression portion is formed to the casing of the housing. An inside of the bottom plate peripheral area is processed from roots of the end surfaces along the end surfaces so that a first slit which continues to the end surfaces is formed. The casing in a position separated from the end surfaces with a predetermined interval and an inside of the bottom plate peripheral area in this position are processed so that a second slit is formed.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 29, 2002Publication date: March 6, 2003Applicant: ADVANCED DISPLAY INC.Inventors: Yoshihide Nishida, Hiroyuki Nakano, Yuji Obuchi
