Abstract: In an exhaust gas control device-equipped internal combustion engine, particulate matter produced in conjunction with combustion of gasoline in a combustion chamber is oxidized by an exhaust gas control device provided in an exhaust passage. The engine includes air-fuel ratio control changer that changes between a feedback control toward a stoichiometric air-fuel ratio whereby an amount of oxygen in exhaust gas is reduced and a feedback control toward a lean-burn combustion side whereby the amount of oxygen in exhaust gas is increased, if the oxidation speed of particulate matter in the exhaust gas control device provided in the exhaust passage is slow, or if the amount of deposit of particulate matter is great.

Abstract: A combustion system for a gas turbine engine includes a Catalyst (CAT) combustion sub-system for generating combustion products under a lean premixed fuel/air condition in the presence of a Catalyst and a Dry-Low-Emissions (DLE) combustion sub-system, for generating combustion products under a lean premixed fuel/air condition. Gaseous and liquid fuels are used for the DLE combustion sub-system while only gaseous fuel is used for the CAT combustion system. The engine operates at start-up and under low load conditions with the DLE combustion system and switches over the combustion process to the CAT combustion sub-system under high load conditions. Thus the combustion system according to the invention combines the advantages of DLE and CAT combustion processes so that the gas turbine engine operates over an entire operating range thereof at high engine efficiency while minimizing emissions of nitrogen oxides and carbon monoxide from the engine.

Abstract: A nonwoven fabric is constructed of a highly flat glass fiber which is a glass fiber whose section is flat and has a flatness ratio of 2.0 to 10 and which has such a section that the packing fraction is at least 85%, preferably at least 90%. In this nonwoven fabric, the glass fiber section has a shape near rectangle, and hence, the glass fibers can be arranged very densely to form a thin nonwoven fabric having a high bulk density, and when it is used as a laminate material, the glass fiber content can be increased and the surface smoothness can simultaneously be enhanced and can be used appropriately as a reinforcing material for a printed wiring board. Moreover, the above flat glass fiber can be produced by use of, for example, a nozzle having such a shape that one side of the major axis walls of a nozzle chip having a flat nozzle hole is partly notched.

Abstract: A knitted sock has an inner layer 2 comprising a toe end 4 and an outer layer 3 comprising a toe end 7. The inner and outer toe ends are aligned and joined wale stitch to wale stitch to form a composite toe end, which is closed to provide a flat toe seam 10. The layered sock is manufactured complete in a single process being knit continuously from the inner toe end to the outer toe end. It comprises reciprocated heel and toe portions. The foot portion of the inner layer is knit from a yarn with properties such as a low coefficient of friction and/or antifungal/antibacterial properties. The low friction fiber is a fluoropolymer such as polytetrafluroethylene. The outer layer may comprise a cushion structure.

Abstract: A lock mechanism for use with lever handles includes a lock core and a latch mechanism that is rigidly connected to the lock core to prevent the lock core from rotating in the door. Through-bolts are not needed, allowing a small diameter rose to be used. Stops and a spring return mechanism are entirely located within the lock core, allowing the rose to be thin. The lock core defines the rest position for the lever handles at an angle slightly above horizontal. To avoid the necessity for producing different locks in left and right-hand configurations, the lock core is made substantially symmetrical about a vertical plane, instead of a horizontal plane, and the inner and outer sides of the lock mechanism can be interchanged. A heavy-duty locking piece, including a pair of locking lugs that directly engage the lock core near its inner perimeter, allow the lock to withstand abusive forces applied through the lever handle.
