Publication number: 20030152691Abstract: In one embodiment, the invention is directed to aperture mask deposition techniques using aperture mask patterns formed in one or more elongated webs of flexible film. The techniques involve sequentially depositing material through mask patterns formed in the film to define layers, or portions of layers, of the circuit. A deposition substrate can also be formed from an elongated web, and the deposition substrate web can be fed through a series of deposition stations. Each deposition station may have an elongated web formed with aperture mask patterns. The elongated web of mask patterns feeds in a direction perpendicular to the deposition substrate web. In this manner, the circuit creation process can be performed in-line. Moreover, the process can be automated to reduce human error and increase throughput.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 14, 2002Publication date: August 14, 2003Applicant: 3M Innovative Properties CompanyInventors: Paul F. The decal is preferably supplied to the end user as a kit, wherein the kit comprises a base section onto which the decal image may be printed, and an adhesive section, which provides the adhesive to affix the base section to the substrate after the design has been printed onto the base section. The decal of the present invention does not require a paper layer in the finished decal product, which allows the decal of the present invention to be very thin. In one preferred embodiment, the decal has a thickness of less than about 1.5×10−3 inches.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 14, 2002Publication date: August 14, 2003Inventor: Larry E. Wittmeyer

Publication number: 20030152734Abstract: This invention provides a thin unsupported indicia containing layer for modifying the appearance of a surface. The indicia containing layer may be contained in a laminate structure that includes an adhesive coating applied to the lower surface of the indicia containing layer, at least one removable protective layer, and a release coating for facilitating the transfer of the indicia containing layer from the removable protective coating onto the surface to be modified. The invention also provides methods and systems for modifying the appearance of a surface using the indicia containing layer.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 18, 2002Publication date: August 14, 2003Inventors: James M. Publication number: 20030152735Abstract: An easily peelable laminated film includes a laminate of a peelable surface layer (B) having a peeling strength of 5 to 100 g/cm with a base layer (A) containing a thermoplastic resin. The laminated film of the invention provides an easily peelable laminated film excellent in water resistance as a base materialfor, for example, concealing seals and labels for preventing re-pasting. The easily peelable laminated film of the invention requires no specific process to start peeling.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 3, 2003Publication date: August 14, 2003Applicant: YUPO CORPORATIONInventor: Hiroshi Koike

Publication number: 20030152736Abstract: A plate mat (10) for use in serving food to prevent spillage of the food includes a mat having a substantially flat underside (U) for the mat to lay flat when placed upon a generally flat surface (T). An adhesive backing (12) is formed on the underside of the mat to securely affix the mat to a surface upon which it is placed so the mat cannot be moved about the surface. A raised area (20) extending about an upper surface of the mat and defining at least one space (22) on the upper surface of the mat in which food is placed, so to contain the food within the space and prevent it from being scattered outside the space over the surface on which the mat is placed.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 13, 2003Publication date: August 14, 2003Inventor: Edwin Bass

Publication number: 20030152737Abstract: A universal abrasive sheet is provided for a sanding or polishing machine and includes segments defined by weakened regions that allow portions of the universal abrasive sheet to be removed in order to adapt the abrasive sheet to alternative platent configurations. Each of the different configurations of the universal abrasive sheet can be provided with an individualized tip portion which can be separated from a body portion and either repositioned or replaced in order to change the working point of the tip portion when it becomes worn out.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 8, 2002Publication date: August 14, 2003Inventors: Jason C. Semi-finished product made out of a ductile material with breaking areas and a method of making same
Publication number: 20030152738Abstract: A band-shaped semi-finished product is made out of a ductile material and is configured to be separated into at least two sections. At least one pair of wedge-shaped, non-cuttingly formed longitudinal notches are formed, between the tips of which there remains a thin web of material, which can be torn easily with little force. The semi-finished product is distinguished by burr-free separated edges, defined geometry of the separating surfaces, and extremely reduced breaking-surface portions. It shows improved resistance during static and dynamic stress, in particular for alternating bending loads, in comparison to conventional, for example via the rolling-cutting technique, separated semi-finished products.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 20, 2002Publication date: August 14, 2003Inventors: Andreas Boegel, Isabell Buresch, Robert Kloeckler, Heinz-Ulrich Koboecken, Eberhard Lepin, Karl-Hermann Stahl, Hans-Juergen Stoeckl -
Publication number: 20030152739Abstract: An optical information recording medium uses a nonlinear optical thin film formed on a substrate either directly or through other layer and comprising an amorphous alloy or a mixture of the amorphous alloy and an oxide glass component, and a refractive index of this thin film reversibly changes in accordance with a change of intensity of a laser beam incident thereto.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 28, 2002Publication date: August 14, 2003Inventors: Hiroki Yamamoto, Takashi Naito

Publication number: 20030152740Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for splicing successive rolls of webmatetial to one endless web, in such way that during subsequent coating of the web, coating defects near the splices are reduced, preferably prevented. To that end at least part of the trailing edge of the splicing tape used to splice the succeeding webs, is left free of adhesive. Because of this, air, which during said coating process gets entrapped behind the splice, between the coating layer and the web, can dissipate between the adhesive-free tape edge and the underlying web surface, thus reducing or preventing the formation of air bubbles and subsequent coating defects.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 19, 2002Publication date: August 14, 2003Applicant: Fuji Photo Film B.V.Inventors: Anton van der Pluym, Fuyuhiko Mori, Gerard van Oosterbaan, Tinus van Riel
