Abstract: A gardening shears structure in which one handgrip has a circular recess sealed by a rotary plug. The rotary plug has a knob at the top that facilitates minimal force rotation during extrication, with a spring situated inside the circular recess enabling the smooth removal of the rotary plug, and a pliant body permeated with oil is inserted into a hollow sleeve at the bottom of the rotary plug such that it is partially exposed. After flower and branch cutting, a physically-worn or hand-carried cloth serves as a means of simple cleaning and following the wiping away of sap, leaf fragments, soil, and other grimy matter on the two blades of the truncating section, the oil permeating the pliant body is applied to shield them from air exposure to prevent corrosion and lubrication, thereby achieving the objective of maintenance.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a cutting device comprised of a first blade portion having a handle and a cutting surface and a second blade portion having a handle and a cutting surface. The first and second blade portions are coupled together and intersect at a pivot point. A rivet is mounted through the pivot point attaching the first and second blade portions, where then rivet further comprises a head elevated with respect to the first blade portion. A cover for covering at least a portion of the first and second blade portions is provided. The cover has a rivet head receiving slot so that when the first and second blade portions are in a closed position and when the cover is positioned over the first and second blade portions, the rivet head frictionally engages the receiving slot so that the cover is frictionally attached to the rivet head.

Abstract: The present invention provides an apparatus and method for joining together the surfaces of wood or similar material by introducing laser light between the surfaces just before the surfaces are forced together. A preferred embodiment of the joining apparatus is a generally broad wedge-shaped blade having planar lower and upper surfaces, which converge toward each other to terminate along an intersecting edge. The blade is generally hollow with a cavity for passing optical fibers carrying laser light to a transparent window attached to the intersecting edge of the blade. Laser light passes through the window and is directed into the closed cavity that is bounded by the windowed intersecting edge of the wedge and the two surfaces of the material, which surfaces converge to the closed end of the cavity where the material is joining together.

Abstract: An instrument for cutting hair comprises first and second members extending longitudinally in a direction generally parallel to a hinge axis 19 of a hinge that connects the two members. Each member has an arm and a leg. The legs have sockets in which tools are received. The arms comprise grip portions for grasping and actuating by a user's hand. During use, the actuation of the arms moves the legs in an arcuate path of a common circle about the hinge axis 19. The legs and the tools disposed in the sockets of the legs have straight features that remain parallel to each other and to the axis 19 of the hinge during movement along the arcuate path. The instrument has a closed pinching or clamping position in which the tools meet each other in abutting relation.

Abstract: An instrument for cutting hair comprises first and second members extending longitudinally in a direction generally perpendicular to a hinge axis of a hinge that connects the two members at proximal ends thereof. Each member has an arm and a leg. The legs have sockets in which blades are received. The arms comprise grip portions for grasping and actuating by a user's hand. During use, the actuation of the arms moves the legs in an arcuate path about the hinge axis similar to jaws on a pair of tongs. The instrument has a closed pinching or clamping position in which the blades meet each other in abutting relation.

Abstract: Disclosed is a cutting wheel for a liquid crystal display panel that avoids early replacement of a cutting wheel due to the breakage of protruding blades or particle deposition in a groove as thereby extending endurance of the cutting wheel. The present invention includes blades along edges of a pair of the same-sized cutting wheels or unevenly-shaped blades of which heights are differentiated along an edge of a circular cutting wheel.

Abstract: A wheelless alignment device for a multiple-wheeled vehicle, wherein each of the wheels bears a portion of the vehicle's weight, has a rigid support member affixable to a wheel hub after its wheel has been removed. The rigid support member bears the portion of the weight of the vehicle normally borne by the removed wheel without substantial deformation, and has at least three reference surfaces that mate with corresponding reference surfaces of a sensor head frame. The reference surfaces are in spaced nonlinear relationship to each other. At least one affixation member attaches the head frame to the rigid support member at locations spaced from the registered reference surfaces, so that after registration the spatial relationship between the wheel hub and the sensor head is unchanged by variances in tightening. This arrangement produces greater accuracy in wheel alignment measurement and adjustment.

Abstract: A portable construction layout tool generates laser beams in two or more directions related by a specific angle, such as 90°. The instrument emits two fans of light in such a way as to project a pair of lines on the floor, wall or other surface on which the instrument is mounted or placed, with the intersection of the two being visible rather than being a virtual intersection hidden beneath the instrument itself, enabling easier setup. Compared to rotating-beam instruments, the disclosed device is simpler by avoiding moving parts and provides for better visibility. In a preferred embodiment the non-collimated beam from a laser diode is used, and is passed through a cylinder lens to converge the beam on the narrower axis to generate the desired fan of light to be projected as a line.

Abstract: The present invention provides for a system and method for measuring the height of a guest at a theme park, including employing an ultrasonic emitter and sensor to determine height. The park may have a plurality of different predetermined minimum height ranges or categories for certain rides and attractions, which must be met by a guest before the guest is allowed to participate. The results of the height measurement are provided on indicia and given to the guest to use at rides throughout the park. The device may be a wristband affixed to the guest, and displaying a color or symbol based on the height of the guest. The guest would be allowed to participate in an attraction provided the color code matches the minimum requirements of the attraction. This present invention may eliminate the need to check the height of the guest at each ride.

Abstract: A tool for marking a cut line on a panel, which panel is to be fitted into a gap, on a surface, between a pre-fixed panel and an adjacent edge of the surface. The tool comprises a manually-grippable base that defines a marking datum, first and second arms that are mounted on the base for linear sliding movement parallel to each other, and locking means to secure each arm to project from said datum by a preset distance. In use a panel to be marked may be laid between the pre-fixed panel and the adjacent edge, the tool's arms being slid to and locked at a required setting. The tool is then slid along said adjacent edge with the free ends of the arms in contact therewith while the marking datum is used to mark a cut line on the panel to be cut.

A checking apparatus, including at least a gauging or measuring head, includes a stationary structure and at least a support structure for the head, coupled to the stationary structure in an adjustable and removable way.

The floor coating includes components that are reactive to these two or more wavelengths such that substantial or complete curing of the floor coating may occur upon simultaneous exposure to the two or more wavelengths. Abstract: A method of treating drill cuttings containing a detectable amount of hydrocarbon-based drilling fluid comprises injecting a non-toxic additive to the cuttings and mixing the cuttings and additive to the point where the amount of hydrocarbon-based drilling fluid is less than 1% by weight. The method of treating cuttings includes the additional step of taking the mixture of cuttings and additive and disposing of the mixture directly to the soil, preferably in the immediate vicinity of the well site. A system is provided for carrying out the method, including structure for adding a quantity of an chemical additive to cuttings carrying a quantity of drilling fluid. The system further provides a controller to determine the cuttings load within the system, and controls to vary the quantity of treatment chemicals added to the cuttings according to the cuttings load.

Abstract: Plastic worms are very popular in fishing. These plastic worms are utilized in sport fishing by the attachment of a fish hook to the front of the plastic worm. This plastic worm fish hook combination has a tendency to become entangled, snagged, in debris that is present in the water being fished. In accordance with this invention an elongated flexible shroud is provided, which is positioned over the forward end of the plastic worm. The shroud is capable of securing the plastic worm inside itself. When the shroud is placed over the head of the plastic worm the snagging of the plastic worm is prevented. The shroud of this invention may be further weighted. The purpose of the added weight is to facilitate the casting buoyancy and fish ability of the plastic worm fish hook combination. The shroud may be further colored to enhance the effectiveness of the lure or indicate the weight of the shroud.

The combination functions as a action producing lure wherein the intimacy between the tail portion of the plastic lure body 104 and the rear portion of hook 101 stabilizes the position of the jig head 102 on the shank 105 along with forward motion of the combination as it is pulled through water. The base end of the slip sinker is provided with a keeper/retainer wire characterized by a keeper leg, typically embedded in the sinker body, and a keeper bend or bends extending the keeper leg, which keeper bend or bends terminates in variously configured retainer segments. The retainer segment ends of the keeper are designed to extend laterally through or into the flexible fishing lure and the eye of the hook embedded in the flexible plastic lure, to lock the slip sinker against the flexible plastic lure and prevent it from sliding on the fishing line and keep the flexible plastic lure from sliding on the hook. The retainer segments are shaped to prevent the keeper wire from exiting the hook eye when the lure is cast and retrieved.

Abstract: An emergency fuel for an internal combustion engine comprises a hydrocarbon solvent having a flash point of at least 100° F. (such as about 65-75% paraffins and about 25-35% naphthenes, or about 75-85% paraffins and about 15-25% of C7 or higher alcohols, or an aromatic solvent, or an naphthalene-depleted aromatic solvent) and a cold starting additive. The cold starting additive may be provided in an amount of less than 5,000 ppm, preferably between about 1 ppm and 150 ppm. The cold starting additive is preferably selected from peroxides, azo compounds, cyano compounds, cetane improvers, or combinations of these compounds. When the emergency fuel is added to a cold engine, including one substantially at room temperature, the engine may be easily started.
