  • Patent number: 6742898
Abstract: In a projector device, a plurality of light source each including a lamp and a reflection mirror are arranged in parallel in an opposing relation to each other with optical axes thereof being offset such that light fluxes from the light sources are compressed in the offset direction, respectively. The compressed light fluxes are reflected at right angles by orthogonal reflecting surfaces of a reflection member including reflection mirrors or reflection prisms to form a plurality of parallel emitting lights in one direction. The projector device includes a condenser portion for condensing the parallel emitting lights to a single emitting light flux. The light fluxes from the light sources are passed through a polarizer portion before the incidence on the reflection member or after the emission from the reflection member such that the light fluxes become linear polarized lights having polarizing directions coincident with polarizing directions of liquid crystal panels.

  • Patent number: 6742903
Abstract: An array of corner reflectors is used to provide a retro-reflector for a large range of incident angles. A novel orientation of the individual corner reflectors is used. This allows the interior of a first corner to remain visible while the interior of a second corner becomes visible. This may be done while maintaining a phase coherence between the contributions of the first and second corner reflectors. Phase coherence ensures constructive interference among the returns from the first and second corner reflectors. Coherence is achieved by an arrangement which places the interior vertices of the corner reflectors close to each other. One such arrangement also places the peak return from one corner reflector acting as a dihedral between the locations of the dihedral and trihedral returns of a second corner reflector. This arrangement results in a substantially uniform and strong retro-return. Phase coherence may be maintained over a desired range of elevation angles.

A cylindrical housing includes, in its upper end, an inlet for a slurry and a helical diverter for directing the slurry in a downward spiral flow path. An inlet for aqueous foam in located in said diverted and directs the foam into the incoming slurry. An annular flow restrictor is located in the lower end of the housing. Turbulence resulting from diversion of the incoming slurry from linear flow to a downward spiral flow path and from changes in spin diameter and speed through the flow restrictor uniformly mix foam with the slurry.

  • Patent number: 6742925
Abstract: The verification of accuracy of an IR thermometer is provided at any temperature in the range of −25° C. to +100° C., preferably at the room temperature. The magnetic surface of a thermo-conductive mat of the present invention is applied to any metallic surface in a room. The user waits to give the contact thermometer arranged on the mat time to reach thermal equilibrium, and then aims the beam of the IR thermometer at the black body target on the mat. The reading of the IR thermometer is then compared with the reading of a contact thermometer, which is attached to the mat adjacent to the black body target. The lightweight, portable, low-cost temperature verification mats of the present invention can be used for verification of IR thermometers in different customer environments, such as in industrial environments, and with retail equipment, or home appliances, including ovens and freezers, etc.

Abstract: A dental x-ray block to eliminate sheets of lead foil from dental x-ray film packets and to inhibit unnecessary x-ray exposure as well as backscattered reflections that can obscure x-ray images and methods of manufacturing and using the same. The dental x-ray block comprises a mouthpiece and a packet holder, which is coupled with the mouthpiece and configured to receive and engage a dental x-ray film packet. Being configured to significantly attenuate and/or absorb x-rays, an attenuation member is coupled with the dental x-ray block and is substantially in axially alignment with the dental x-ray film packet. Therefore, after the dental x-ray film packet has been exposed to a primary x-ray beam, the primary x-ray beam is significantly attenuated by the attenuation member to inhibit unnecessary x-ray exposure and secondary exposures due to backscattered reflections from obscuring x-ray images.

Abstract: A bearing for use in a water pump or similar apparatus and a method of assembling the bearing. The bearing has a stepped shaft and a counterbored raceway at the fan or pulley end which allows for use of a larger number of balls in the raceway at the fan or pulley end, and which allows for using larger balls at the impeller end. The method of assembly of the bearing includes assembling balls and a cage to form a ball and cage assembly, assembling ball and cage assembly into the outer race at its pulley end, then sliding the shaft, impeller end first, into the outer race through the pulley end such that the first inner raceway and the first balls align with the first outer raceway. The shaft is then displaced in a direction perpendicular to its axial centerline within the outer race. A second plurality of balls is inserted onto the shaft within the outer race at its second outer raceway end, and a second cage is inserted over the shaft and within the outer race to surround the second plurality of balls.
