Abstract: A fluid pump for pumping fluidized materials comprises a motor, a material pump, and a closed-loop pressure hydraulic system interconnecting the motor and the material pump. The closed-loop hydraulic system further comprises a hydraulic pump, a pressure regulator, an impeller, and an expandable fluid reservoir. Abstract: The fuel injection system has a feed pump (12), by which fuel is pumped out of a fuel tank (10) to the intake side of a high-pressure pump (14); the high-pressure pump (14) pumps fuel into a reservoir (16) as a function of engine operating parameters. A fuel metering device (44) is provided for adjusting the fuel quantity pumped into the reservoir (16) by the high-pressure pump (14). An electrically actuated blocking valve (46) is disposed between the feed pump (12) and the high-pressure pump (14), and by means of this valve the high-pressure pump (14) can be disconnected completely from the feed pump (12). By means of the blocking valve (46), it can still be attained that no fuel is pumped by the high-pressure pump (14) even if the fuel metering device (44) does not provide complete sealing.

Abstract: In a crushing system, an interlocked operation of operation units including a grizzly feeder, a crusher and a delivery conveyor and so on is stopped by depressing an interlock OFF switch (94). For this, after stopping the grizzly feeder, a stop command section (122B) outputs a stop command to the crusher and the delivery conveyor only when a load detector (110) once detects the load on the delivery conveyor and a determining section (122A) determines that the load is cleared out and there is no remaining crushed material. Thus, if compared with conventional crushing systems adapted to stop the operation units only after the elapse of a predetermined time period, the crushing system can reliably prevent the crushed material from remaining on the delivery conveyor so that it is no longer necessary to worry about a situation where the crushed material remaining on the delivery conveyor has to be removed.

Abstract: A system and method that guides a device to an object using periodically adaptive guidance. The guidance and control system creates a reconstructed line-of-sight (LOS) vector to avoid system destabilization associated with small angle approximations during high bore sight engagements. The guidance system adaptively estimates the periodic maneuver of evasive objects with a set of harmonically balanced Kalman filter banks. The Harmonically Balanced Kalman filter banks generate a set of probabilities that weight the effect of each individual Kalman filters on a resultant guidance command signal. The guidance command signal generated by the system acts perpendicular to the object LOS. The guidance and control system uses vectored proportional navigation guidance laws, optimal proportion navigation laws and periodically adaptive augmented guidance laws to generate a guidance command signal to supply to an autopilot.

Abstract: An aircraft 1 with a spiral inducing assembly 2 which is capable of inducing the aircraft to travel in a continuous spiralling motion without the aircraft rolling. Two fins 6 and 17 are attached to a tube 3 that is able to rotate around the encircled part of the fuselage. The fins 6, 17 are able to rotate in a pivoting manner on the rotatable tube 3 with respect to the rotatable tube 3, thereby changing their pitch relative to the longitudinal axis of the rotatable tube 3. Fin 6 is larger than fin 17. The difference in sizes between the fins makes the larger fin 6 exert a greater force on the rotatable tube 3 than the smaller fin 17 when the fins are pitched in unison. The aerodynamic imbalance between the fins thus causes the rotatable tube 3 to rotate. When pitched at an angle to the longitudinal axis in unison, both fins 6, 17 would exert a lateral force on the rotatable tube 3. Thus, as well as forcing the rotatable tube 3 to rotate, the fins 6, 17 would also push the rotatable tube sideways.

Abstract: A structure is disclosed which comprises a thermochromic layer located between a front layer and a back layer, wherein the front layer is a dielectric and is in contact with the thermochromic layer, and wherein the back layer is reflective to infrared (IR) radiation. Below the thermochromic transition temperature of the thermochromic layer, the front layer and thermochromic layer are IR-transparent, so the structure is highly reflective to IR radiation because of the presence of the reflective back layer. Consequently, the structure has a low emittance in this state. Above the thermochromic transition temperature of the thermochromic layer, the device structure becomes IR-absorbent, so the reflectance of the structure is reduced and hence its emittance is increased. The front layer index-matches with the thermochromic layer above the transition temperature of the thermochromic layer to enable radiation to enter the thermochromic layer.
