  • Patent number: 6814010
Abstract: Knockdown furniture including a table with flat, interlocking, planar parts assembled or disassembled without tools or fasteners. Planar legs oriented in radially, spaced apart, mutually abutting relation upon erection, compressively grasp and support an elevated top. Each leg has a foot touching the ground, an integral, upwardly, outwardly diverging arm for grasping the top, a vertically upright protrusion of gradually decreasing width, and a junction region from which these parts emanate. A planar lock includes slots through which the protrusions pass when the furniture is press-fitted together. Lock notches aligned with the slots concurrently engage the arms. Each protrusion decreases in width, with the outside of each protrusion forming a ramp, and the inside forming an elongated, vertical edge. The wedging action resulting from slot-to-ramp engagement locks the legs together, with the complimentary protrusion edges firmly abutting one another and with the top compressively grasped by the arms.

  • Patent number: 6814013
Abstract: In the process for treating incineration residues from waste incineration plants, the incineration material is incinerated on a furnace grate. The incineration residues produced are quenched in a wet slag remover and conveyed out of the latter. The wet incineration residues which come out of the wet slag remover are firstly divided into two fractions by means of a screening operation, after which the main fraction is washed with water taken from the wet slag remover, and in the process adhering fine pieces are separated off. The washed pieces of the incineration residues are fed for reuse. The washing water together with the ultra fine pieces which have been taken up during the washing operation pass into the wet slag remover. The fine fraction produced during the mechanical separation operation is fed back to the incineration operation.

  • Patent number: 6814040
Abstract: A deactivation valve lifter includes a lifter body. The body defines at least one annular pin chamber therein. The lifter body has a first end configured for engaging a cam of an engine. A pin housing includes a pin housing wall and pin housing bottom. The pin housing wall includes an outer surface. The pin housing bottom defines a radially directed pin bore. The pin housing is concentrically disposed within the lifter body such that the outer surface of the pin housing wall is adjacent to at least a portion of an inner wall of the lifter body. A deactivation pin assembly is disposed within the pin bore and includes pin members. A portion of each pin member is disposed within the annular pin chamber to thereby couple the lifter body to the pin housing. An external lost motion spring is coupled to the body and pin housing.

  • Patent number: 6814042
Abstract: An air intake apparatus for supplying air to an internal combustion engine comprises a unitary hollow enclosure, a motor vehicle battery and an air compressor for compressing air supplied to the engine. The enclosure is partly divided by a partition wall into a battery compartment and a compressor compartment, access to which is provided by a pair of covers. The battery compartment houses the battery and the compressor compartment houses the air compressor. An engine air supply path leads through the enclosure from an air inlet an air outlet, the enclosure inlet and enclosure outlet defining respectively an upstream end of the air supply path and a downstream end of the air supply path. The air supply path extends through the partition wall. The battery housing encloses an upstream part of the air supply path and the compressor housing encloses a downstream part of the air supply path.

  • Patent number: 6814045
Abstract: There is provided a rotary internal combustion engine (20) comprising a plurality of rotors (21) each having a plurality of lobes (22) for intermeshing with lobes of other rotors to form successive combustion chambers. Axial seal elements (60, 61) are provided at the rotor tips and trailing tips of the rotors respectively. Circumferential axial edge seals (59) are also provided to interconnect the axial seals. The seals engage sealing plates (30) on each axial side of an engine housing (29) so as to effect the combustion chambers. Fuel inlets and ignition means are provided at suitable locations, as are exhaust means.

  • Patent number: 6814046
Abstract: A direct fuel injection engine basically comprises a combustion chamber, a piston with a cavity, a fuel injection valve, a spark plug and a control unit. The fuel injection valve is configured and arranged to directly inject a fuel stream into the combustion chamber in a substantially constant hollow circular cone shape in a stratified combustion region. The control unit is configured to ignite a first air-fuel mixture formed directly after the fuel stream is injected and prior to a majority of the fuel stream striking the cavity when the direct fuel injection engine is operating in a low-load stratified combustion region, and to ignite a second air-fuel mixture formed after a majority of the fuel stream is guided by the cavity toward an upper portion of the combustion chamber above the cavity when the direct fuel injection engine is operating in a high-load stratified combustion region.

  • Patent number: 6814047
Abstract: The present invention provides an ignition method for an internal combustion engine, an injection being alternatively performed in at least one first operating mode or in a second operating mode, and the ignition coil being charged as a function of the current operating mode. A control-pulse curve characteristic of the current operating mode is provided, and the charging of the ignition coil is performed by a control logic element in response to the control-pulse curve, using corresponding, different time characteristics of the primary current. The present invention also provides a corresponding ignition device for an internal combustion engine.

  • Patent number: 6814049
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for operating a direct-injecting gasoline internal combustion engine (1), especially of a motor vehicle, wherein the gasoline is injected directly into the combustion chamber (4) of the engine (1) and an ignition spark is ignited in the combustion chamber (4). In order to be able to reliably ignite an air/gasoline mixture with a relatively low ignition voltage notwithstanding a relatively large electrode gap of a spark plug (10) of the engine (1), it is suggested that the ignition spark be ignited in advance of the start of injection (45) and that a spark burn duration (44) be maintained up to past the end of the injection (45).

  • Patent number: 6814051
Abstract: A bore portion of a throttle body of a throttle valve is formed in double-tube structure. In the double-tube structure, a central axis of a cylindrical inner bore tube is deviated downward from a central axis of a cylindrical outer bore tube in order to prevent water from entering an air inlet port or an air outlet port of a bypass. A valve body of an ISC valve (an idling speed control valve) controls an opening degree of the bypass. A trapping concavity on a bypass side has larger internal volume than on a side opposite from the bypass. Thus, the bore portion of the throttle body can be downsized. Meanwhile, performance for preventing icing of the throttle valve can be improved.
