  • Patent number: 6814204
Abstract: A crankshaft 2 of an internal combustion engine, which is supported with freedom to rotate around an axis of rotation 3, can be connected by a first clutch 1 to a flywheel 4, which is also supported with freedom to rotate around the axis of rotation 3. In addition, the flywheel 4 can be connected by a second clutch 5 to a transmission shaft 6, also supported with freedom to rotate around the axis of rotation 3. The flywheel 4 is provided with at least one permanent magnet and thus forms the rotor 8 of a crankshaft starter-generator. The pole fields of the permanent magnets can be moved past the stator coil of a stator 9 of the crankshaft starter-generator, this coil being mounted on a stationary component. Each of the first and the second clutches 1, 5 has its own separately operated actuating means and can be engaged and disengaged either independently of each other or in common.

  • Patent number: 6814206
Abstract: A temperature-controlled fluid friction coupling is actuated by a flow of viscous fluid flowing into or out of shearing surface gaps disposed therein. An, the actuating pin is movable in a direction parallel to a surface of a partition. A swing-type valve lever is in contact with the actuating pin near a root end of the valve lever, and a swing end of the valve lever is arranged slidably movable while in contact with a surface of the partition having a valve opening therein. In response to a deformation of the temperature sensitive element caused by a change of air temperature, the actuating pin moves in a direction parallel to the surface of the partition, and then the swing end of the valve lever moves so as to open and close the valve opening. Thus, the fluid flow from a reservoir chamber to a torque transmitting chamber is controlled.

  • Patent number: 6814207
Abstract: A friction clutch assembly that is adapted particularly for use in a powertrain for a vehicle for controlling transfer torque to traction wheels for the vehicle. The torque capacity of the clutch assembly is modified by adjusting the effective clutch engaging force. Pressure balance springs oppose a primary clutch spring engaging force. The compression distance of the pressure balance springs is controlled to achieve an effective clutch engaging force that accommodates varying operating torque requirements.

  • Patent number: 6814208
Abstract: A centrifugal clutch for motorcycles employs a cam-actuating mechanism having multiple rows of centrifugal force-responsive cam members of a selected density and size to force a series of clutch plates into clutching engagement over the shortest possible distance and least possible speed of rotation while assuring ease of positive engagement of the clutch members in response slight increases in speed of rotation. The cam-actuating mechanism can be employed with a manual override mechanism to manually control locking and release of the clutch members as well as utilizing a torque limiter to absorb shock loads without unduly increasing the size of the clutch so that it will readily fit into the space occupied by existing or standard clutch mechanisms.

  • Patent number: 6814209
Abstract: A clutch mechanism 20 is provided for a motor 10. The motor has a shaft 12, a worm 14 associated with the shaft, a gear 16 engaged by the worm, and a friction surface 27. The clutch mechanism 20 includes a pressure plate 22 mounted for movement with respect to the shaft toward and away from the friction surface 27. A spring 26 is constructed and arranged to bias the pressure plate towards the friction surface. A stop 30 is constructed and arranged to limit movement of the pressure plate in a direction away from the friction surface. Whereby, under a back drive condition of the motor when the motor is not energized and the gear is moved by an externally applied torque causing an axial force to be exerted on the worm inducing an axial and an angular movement to the shaft, the pressure plate is constructed and arranged to move towards and engage the friction surface thereby impeding rotation of the shaft.

  • Patent number: 6814211
Abstract: The present invention pertains to a slide for a gravity-fed sorting machine. An optimum gravity slide configuration comprises one or more channels, with or without dividing ribs, and a product guide. The product guide has support tabs integral to or otherwise extending from its perimeter. Those tabs allow the product guide to be supported along it perimeter by brackets while retaining certain degrees of freedom regarding its ability to move. Specifically, the tabs rest in notches in the underlying support brackets that allow the product guide to be lifted up, thus permitting a potential obstruction to pass. Additionally, the brackets themselves are adjustably mounted to the sides of the slide. That allows the product guide's height above the channel bottom or dividing ribs to be varied to provide a clearance to best accommodate the particular product being sorted.

  • Patent number: 6814221
Abstract: The present invention is directed to an apparatus and method for transfer of various objects along a multi-level conveyor in a number of pallets, which are transported between levels by two elevators simultaneously going up or down on each end of the conveyor. Since there are two elevators and several conveying levels, it is possible to change the path of movement of pallets along the conveyor, thus, providing control over the path and number of cycles the objects spend on the conveyor. Hence, such configuration allows to change position of one pallet relative to another. Present invention significantly minimizes the size of conveyor systems as well as it allows to manipulate the amount of time each pallet spends inside the system. Furthermore, since each pallet moves one step at a time different technological processes (i.e. loading/unloading, testing, measuring etc.) can be done with products when pallets are stationary.

  • Patent number: 6814222
Abstract: The invention is particularly useful for accumulation conveyors. An assembly located beneath its corresponding zone of item transporting rollers activates the item transporting rollers by lifting the accumulator's narrow belt to engage the underneath side of the item transporting rollers. Electric actuation rather than the traditional pneumatic actuation activates the assembly's vertical movement toward its corresponding zone of item transporting rollers. Whether activated or not, the assembly's rack journals a plurality of pressure rollers that remain contiguous with the narrow belt. Centering of the sideways movement of the narrow belt as the belt travels about the rack is associated with either a pivoting tracking roller journaled in the rack or a flanged pressure roller or rollers channel in the rack. A constant force takeup can be supplied to the belt.

  • Patent number: 6814223
Abstract: An edge module for a modular plastic conveyor belt providing a self-closing retention system for retaining headless hinge rods in modular plastic conveyor belts. The edge module has a chamber in an outer edge portion of the module that slidably receives a rod retention member, such as a plug. The plug slides along the chamber from a closed position occluding a hinge rod passageway through interleaved hinges of consecutive rows of belt modules to an open, unoccluding position. A spring in the chamber urges the plug back toward the closed position. The plug is moved to the open position in two ways: by the force of a hinge rod against an oblique face during insertion of the rod into a belt; or manually by a tool engaging an easily accessible indentation in the plug.

  • Patent number: 6814239
Abstract: An apparatus for producing high-purity standard particles produces nanometer-sized high-purity standard particles of monodispersive uniform structure efficiently, with the abatement of contamination and damage. The apparatus includes a particle generation chamber, a particle classification chamber and a particle collecting chamber. The particle generation chamber excites a semiconductor target with pulse laser beam under a low-pressure rare gas ambient so as to detach and eject materials from the target into the ambient gas, in which those materials are condensed and grow into high-purity particles. The particle classification chamber subjects the high-purity particles as generated to classification, and the particles collecting chamber collects high-purity standard particles as classified onto a substrate.
